Great local spot for the freshest seafood! Excellent pricing too. We went back 3 times in a week to enjoy crab legs, oysters and delicious fish and chips!

This restaurant has a great view and all the makings of a terrific ambiance. The food is mediocre at best. Very disappointing caprice salad. My husband ordered a clam strip sandwich anticipating actual strips, but to no avail. He received bits of clams on a bun, a roll would have been ideal. He wound up throwing away the bread and eating the bits of fried clams. Maybe we ordered the wrong items on the menu. Come for the location and bar, seek food elsewhere.

5 star view and location, 2 star food, 1 star service. The bartenders were very nice and attentive but the waitresses seemed to avoid the tables — our waitress in particular was extremely short with conversation and bitchy. We asked one question about the menu and she seemed annoyed. The food was not worth the money at all. Crab cakes looked like burnt pancakes, hardly had any meat. The clam chowder was average at best. The croutons were stale in the salads and the only thing decent was fried seafood which you could get anywhere. The most satisfying part about the food was feeding the left overs to the catfish over the dock. I honestly saw nothing special about this place, and the only reason I’d come back is to socialize and get a drink at the bar

The Boondocks was such a great find. Sitting right up against the dock there’s Pelicans and catfish an arms length away. I had the Mahi Mahi grilled sandwich. That was one really great piece of fish. Thick and juicy. Every bite I took the fish easily broke off and succumbed to my taste buds. Succulent. Bottom line this was a great place to go after spending a day on the beach.

I like to thanks Karen for pointing this restaurant in our way. Who can deny if the restaurant name after you. We got to try it before anything else. We were not disappointed. This restaurant is actually the second stop of the night. We arrive around 7:38. The hostess indicates we have a 45 minutes wait. Luckily it only take 20 minutes wait. The sunset behind the mangrove is beautiful. Sun set behind the boat and the far horizon. Our waitress is great. She got our orders in within a few minutes. The food came out quick. I begin my second round with strawberry daiquiri. It was good frozen drink. It is refreshing. We have three appetizers and a soup. The soup is the award winning New England clam chowder. The soup is creamy and the clam is in good chunk. They deserve to be awarded. The three appetizers are the steam spicy shrimp, clam in wine sauce, and jalapeño krab popper. The clams is cook with garlic, olive oil, white wine and herb. This is the best dish of the night. The jalapeño krab popper is wrap in spicy jalapeño but accompany a jelly sauce that neutralize the spiciness. It turn out to be a great dish. We enjoy every bit of our time here. Service is great and the sunset is perfect.

This is a neat eatery right on the docks. Great place to visit for lunch. The service was professional and welcoming. They have outdoor seatings so it is pet friendly. Free iced tea refills. The portions are large and the prices are reasonable. Fish tasted very fresh. The New England clam chowder was really good. The chowder was thick with chunks of clams and not too salty. I would definitely visit this little gem again.

I have not been there in a while. I have always been satisfied with my food and service, and some of the items are very good. Especially the garlic bread, and if you like cheese garlic bread(which I don’t), you will probably love it here. Limited beer selection, and the draft beer is not up to par. Open air which is great for me. You can sit at the bar, which is on the water and watch the pelicans and boats leaving and entering the marina. Down home friendly atmosphere and clientele.

What a terrific find. Location is perfect and the view is awesome. Oysters were fabulous. Had the blackened mahi, which was perfectly cooked. Best coleslaw. Super nice and fast service. Orange Creamsicle cake was to die for!

Boyfriend and I got the Captain’s platter and the mussels in garlic and wine to share. Platter was great-blackened fish, half steamed oysters, steamed clams, tasty shrimp and snow crab. All very good and Thank you for not frying everything like most platters! The French fries took care of any need for fried. I am worried about the fish who devour the leftover fries every guest was tossing into the water. The sheen of oil on the surface made me wonder about their cholesterol. Now the mussels were watery and the garlic powder/granules just doesn’t cut it. Rethink that recipe. Service fantastic. I liked having a pitcher of iced tea set at my table. It saved everyone time and effort. I’ll go back to boondocks

Really like this place. Great selection of tasty dishes and«team service»(not just one server, but literally everyone takes care of you). The one thing that might turn you off from dining here(for some) is the fact that it’s all«outside»…like, no AC. You’re warned. The upside is that there’s usually a nice breeze from the water.

Absolutely nothing fancy at all. Which is why I liked it. Tucked into a neighborhood off of the intercoastal(I think) this channelside shed hits all the points to be a local dive with food pretty on par to go with it. I went during the off season, so it was pretty well closed up, but its obvious that on a nice day the walls are rolled up and it’s open air. A note about the food… it’s good, but doubtfully fresh-made or fresh caught. Try the grouper cheesesteak, blackend though… pretty awesome and unique. Also, where else can you find $ 2 beers on the water. I’ll definitely be back.

Seating was an issue so we scooped up the last seats at the bar. The bartenders were personable and lightening fast. The blackened fish sandwich was perfect in every way. Clam chowder was a meal in itself, almost too thick, but oozed with flavor and big clam pieces. The locals hang here, and we found out why! Great stop on our vacation to the Daytona area.

This restaurant was great for my family. Picnic tables easily sat 6 and with restaurant being predominately outdoors I didn’t have to worry about my kids being too loud as the noise dissipated. Mahi Mahi Dinner was delicious and perfectly blackened.

I’m sitting in the Orlando airport after a brief weekend trip to Daytona to visit family. It’s been a long time since my last review here so I’m going to take a few minutes here to review a couple places we visited here on our trip. Boondocks is just as advertised. Super casual and cozy. I love the weathered look of this place and the fact that it’s hugged up right next to the Halifax river. We were here for biker week, so plenty of interesting characters were dining here when my family and I arrived. The clam chowder is fantastic. Maybe some of the best I’ve ever had. I ordered the captains platter and it did not disappoint except for the shrimp, which I had to peel and they were also served in a celery salty tasting red sauce that had hints of Lawry’s and an overwhelming amount of salt. The crab legs, oysters, clams and whitefish though were excellent. A perfect welcoming to Florida with the freshness in the seafood here! Tip to newcomers… I am still a child and joined the rest of the kids out near the docks, where there are a TON of frenzy feeding catfish just waiting to devour any leftover fries or other food that you can’t finish and don’t want to take home!!! So fun!

Boondocks is a local restaurant on the bay side by the docks. It is a small place but popular. We got there early 5:30 and were told we would have a 15 – 20 min wait. That did not happen. They have picnic tables inside and it just seemed that seating 2 was difficult. The bar area is open seating so we so after 45 minutes we figured out we better get in where we could fit in. That’s what the locals were doing. We order drinks $ 2 for a draft Yueingling beer and $ 6 for a good long island tea! When’s the last time you have seen that at a decent restaurant? Ordered the seafood platter for entrée and boiled shrimp spicy. The platter was was good and priced fairly, the shrimp were wonderful, cooked just right! Come to find out the use a seasoning called JO’s rather than Old Bay. It made a noticeable difference we preferred. Looked it up on line and it is made in Maryland as well but is a small operation. No retail sales just online. In fact we got a second order with a few beers. Boondocks is a cool locally owned little dockside restaurant worth going. They just need to figure out seating. NOTE: by the time we left it had thinned out so coming early was not an advantage. Conflicts with the early retirement crowd we were told by wait staff. Seating is the only reason for my 3 stars.

We drive 50 minutes to come here every two weeks or so. My fiancé and I are never disappointed. We always start our meal with a dozen oysters, which are always superb, followed by a new dish every time we visit. Never a bad meal! Never a bad drink! Please, don’t ever change to cater to the snooty snoots who may complain about lack of frills. The laid back feel and excellent food is what keeps us coming back.

Very good seafood restaurant with a view of the Halifax river. The fried fish Reuben was just ok. The clam chowder was amazing. Service was good.

Atmosphere: Right by the water though it was windy when I went so they had the tarps down, but I was okay with that! Small place with a handful of individual and group bench seating. Crowded when I went on a Monday around 5pm. Plenty of parking! Servers: Prompt, friendly, and many of them tending to you. Super nice and always asking if you need anything else. Food: I ordered the captain’s platter(roughly $ 25). It came with 3 raw oysters(I requested for raw), 4 steamed little clams, a decent sized grilled fish, a cluster of snow crab, 6 – 7 butter/old bay seasoned shrimp, and a side of yellow rice. The oysters were okay, no salty flavor but they were pretty plump, fresh, and juicy. I was hoping for some ocean taste. The little clams were good — can’t complain about steamed clams! The fish was grilled to perfection with great seasoning. The shrimp was cooked well, but I didn’t like the butter or old bay seasoning(I prefer mine steamed with some lemon). The rice was typical so nothing special about it. I also ordered a dozen oysters on the side for $ 11.95. I had ordered it with my platter so if I had tasted them from the platter beforehand, I probably wouldn’t order these as they were very plain. Overall: Nice atmosphere, great service, reasonably priced-mediocre food. I’d come back to try other seafood!

Feeding your leftovers to the slew of catfish in the marina is a LOT of fun — and it reduces stinky waste. These fish will annihilate anything and the kids find it wildly hilarious! The service was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable — one of the fish of the day for my grilled fish and shrimp entrée was a Basso. I had never had it, nor had I heard of it and I was very concerned that since it was a bottom feeder it would taste dirty as most bottom-feeders do, especially in the catfish family. Waitress reassured me it wouldn’t — and it didn’t, thankfully. Fish was cooked perfectly and the shrimp, though a little too salty for me, was cooked well and they were large shrimp. The chili cheese fries were pretty awesome drunken post-beach day munchies! The menu is not EXTENSIVE but if you’re looking for good seafood and a nice little, covered, marina side eatery tucked back in a residential area — it was really nice! Would definitely visit again. Save your leftovers and walk them out to the deck and feed the catfish! THEYWILLEATANYTHING!
