Golden Grill On the Bay

This place was horrible. We arrived about 7:00pm on a Friday after a hotel clerk told us this place was amazing. We walked across the street and when we got there it was a little confusing on how to get into the restaurant. Basically just a giant red door with their name on a sign above it. We walked in and waited 15 minutes to even be acknowledged. We were sat down in a booth and asked what we wanted to drink. I asked for hot tea and my boyfriend wanted a Mountain Dew. It took her about 10 minutes to just get him the Mountain Dew AFTER he reminded her but I received my tea instantly. They sat us right next to the kitchen and it just looked very unclean. Was also very unpleasant to have them shouting and dishes clanking like crazy when you just want to have a conversation with someone directly in front of you. The staff traded off a lot. There was a younger girl there with glasses that helped us the most and was very nice. The rest were very hurried and/​or didn’t say a word or shouted while at our table to the other employees. When we got our food, it was gross. It all tasted like pure salt and bland meat. The veggies in my beef and dish were drowned in a sauce. I thought it’d taste fantastic, but again the sauce just tasted like salty hamburger or something. The honey walnut chicken tasted like dry plain chicken with a hint of sugar even though the sauce was all over it. The seafood soup was okay. Pretty much a generic, bland seafood taste with large shrimp and other things in there. Everything came in huge gigantic portions even for the 2 people meal. It could probably serve 5 or more easily. For the price, it was totally NOT worth it. Stupidly expensive for how horrible the food and service was.

Called this resturant over the weekend, call for about 2 hours and kept getting busy signal… called tonight and busy again, called the bar and the oriental lady was rude, yelled at me and then hung up. Finally got through to the front and placed my order, once they showed up and left we were missing half of our order. Called to let them know and they put me on hold but I could still hear everything they were saying. They were yelling at each other and the girl on the phone was rude after that. I have always came here and it was good but we won’t be going back and will be reporting them!!!

I love this place. If you can get past the corky dj the music is pretty good. Beer is a bit on the pathetic side but it works. The view is amazing and the staff is pretty awesome. Worth taking a peak, especially in this town.

Firing Liz was a mistake. This new guy you have in here is not only a tool but he is rude and not going to last. I can hope anyway, this is my go to place and he is leaving a sour taste in my beer. BRING LIZ BACK. (I have lowered my rating)

Chinese that delivers in Port Orchard! The delivery was fast and the food was good. We ordered the sweet and sour chicken and pork. The sauce was served on the side so the chicken was perfectly crisp! The potstickers were delicious. Definitely worth it.

I came on Christmas with my mom and daughter. I’ll start by saying the food was ok, nothing amazing but I’ve had worse. That being said. The service was horrible. HORRIBLE. We were there for over 2 hours, we had to go into the kitchen twice to ask for service. They were not busy, there was no excuse at all other than them don’t want me to come again. It took us almost 15 minutes to pay them to leave the darn place!

I’d really love to find somewhere better, but Port Orchard seriously lacks in the purely Chinese food department. That said, I’ve had more good food experiences at Golden Grill than I’ve had at others. I still choose it when a friend wants to go out for Chinese.

Awful awful awful service. We ordered pineapple shrimp and sweet and sour pork to go. When we got to the car by mistake the yellow (pineapple looking) soup was poured over the pork by mistake. We’ve never eaten here before and didn’t know it came with soup. The other order was some kind of meal I’ve never seen before. When I went back inside to get my order fixed she told me before looking that it was correct, then after opening the Togo box up showing her there was no shrimp she then said she will fix that. Then I explained how the soup got poured over the pork by mistake and asked that it be remade seeing as we’d never been here before and it was an honest mistake. Being that it was only a $ 7 meal I didn’t think it was a huge deal. She then proceeded to tell me that it was my fault almost laughing at me telling me she wouldn’t do anything about it. She was extremely rude about it. I told her she has now lost my business over a silly mistake that could have been fixed. She said that’s fine with her and left. I am appalled. I know it was our mistake for pouring the soup on the chicken, but the entire situation was handled with and extreme lack of respect. To laugh in my face and be so rude about it was uncalled for. I will never eat here again and I would highly NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Absolutely horrible service. Took over half an hour to just get someone to stop by with water. Just got our tab and boxes after waiting 20 minutes since the server said she’d bring it.
Food was ok.
I won’t be back.

Food was above average we sat in the bar and the service was poor. Only two tables eating and a few drinkers but the server could not keep up. Our food came out and order was wrong but was quickly fixed. We have poopopp platter it was OK, mushu pork was good but pancakes were gross, sweet and sour shrimp was good. Waitress did not check back until we were done no soy sauce not even water offered or salt and pepper on the table. Will try again but never back to the bar. Even the Pepsi tasted weird.

Best Chinese food in town! Golden Grill on the Bay is always our first choice when craving Chinese for dinner. Huge bonus… they deliver!

The pros: very kind servers who tried their best, decent hot tea, almond chicken with good flavor, yummy gravy, but a little too much batter, and a lovely view of the water from most tables. Cons: the BBQ pork appetizer was served at an alarming slightly-​warmer-​than-​room temperature that made me unsure if they wanted to serve it cold, hot, or had just left it out. (I still ate it with their deliciously hot mustard.) The most upsetting part of the meal was that our fried rice cams out where about half of the rice was still uncooked or undercooked by quite a bit. Really a basic thing for a Chinese place to have properly cooked rice. I may try it again as I hear that’s not normal service. We’ll see…

VERY MEDIOCRE FOR AN UNFAIR PRICE.
I feel like good Chinese food is hard to come by. I was excited to try this place because I heard such great things about it.
Ordered Orange Chicken and a side of Pork Fried Rice. It was SO expensive. When it was delivered, I was shocked at how plain everything tasted. It just wasn’t worth the price tag.
I’ll keep on searching for a good Chinese restaurant!

My first time eating their food, there wasn’t too much trouble.
So… Tonight I decide to ask my husband for something together delivered for dinner. We had been on the road all day and didn’t wanna go anywhere. We decided to order 2x of fried wontons, shrimp fried rice, and «lemon chicken.»
The problem was the lemon chicken. First off, I was expecting a marinated chicken that actually tasted like lemon. My husband opens his box (he ordered it) and it is literally two big flat-​ish pieces of chicken, fried, and topped with 2 slices of lemon… And a jarred maraschino cherry… So… First off. We were
Like… What? This doesn’t even look like a lemon chicken dish. Just chicken with lemon on top. My husband ate only half. He said it was awful. It had no taste, especially no lemon taste. One piece of chicken was dry, and the other had so much batter on it that it seemed like it hadn’t been cooked thoroughly.
Best and MOST IMPORTANT part of this? Shortly after eating. My husband said he was ready for bed. We get in bed, talk, and he mentions his stomach hurts. We continue on with conversation because he didn’t seem crazy upset about it. Then suddenly he starts moaning in pain. First off my husband never ever is a baby about shit, so if it hurts, it really does hurt. He described the pain as if «someone hit you in the balls and the pain you feel in your stomach when it happens.» (I’m a woman so I can’t fully understand this so I figured id mention it for the male readers). He ran to the bathroom thinking he was gonna throw up, but he didn’t. I legit thought I was going to have to take him to the hospital. He has been in the bathroom for 30 minutes now getting it out of his system the other way. I am currently writing this review because of how ticked off I am.
I will never, Never, never, NEVER eat here again. Ever. Never ever.

I have eaten here I thousand times and it’s always great.
We always get as a family (a large family) two sweet-​and-​sour chicken, General Taos chicken, noodles, fried rice and egg drop soup. The food is always great. The five stars doesn’t necessarily reflect the food, it reflects the consistency in the quality of the food. We go there and it is always the same. I truly appreciate that in a restaurant.
The beautiful view is something we take for granted, the atmosphere seems authentic, the staff is alway friendly. Also, we’ve gone to the karaōke on the lounge side and that was lots of fun too.

Beautiful atmosphere and extremely friendly staff. The food was delicious! We ordered the dinner C. Hot & sour soup (not very sour but still delicious). Po Po platter was amazing, especially the paper wrapped chicken. For entrees we have honey walnut chicken — not overly sweet and delightfully tangy — and the sizzling beef — YUM.
Highly recommended!

Fantastic views of the bay, fast friendly service and excellent food. Came here on a weekend and was delighted to find this hidden gem.
The food here is the best «American» Chinese food I’ve had in Washington. I ordered the General Tso’s chicken and fried rice, 2 classic dishes that any Chinese restaurant should be able to perfect. Perfection indeed, the General chicken was crispy and crunchy and the sauce was sweet & spicy goodness. The fried rice was full of flavor and came in a huge generous portion.
Would definitely come here again.

My mom and dad were visiting and I would not be lying when I say we ate out for every meal, especially trying to hit up places they don’t have back home. Their last night in town, dad was craving Chinese. Admittedly our go to Chinese restaurant is Super Wok or China Sun if we are craving a little bit of this and that and therefore we’ve never been here. Until now.
Since my parents and I spent a lot of time downtown, we drove past this restaurant regularly. We decided this is where we are going.
Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted with bold signs stating they do not use msg. Well we don’t care about that I know others do so this is nice to know right off the bat. The guy standing at the cash register greeted us and immediately. A nice older woman come to our table an offer us hot tea. My parents made small talk with her and she was super friendly.
We had a hard time figuring out what to have for dinner because the options are plentiful and the prices are good. We ordering a sizzling shrimp platter, sweet and sour shrimp, and curry chicken with 3 star spice. The restaurant was not very busy while we were here and therefore we received our meal fairly quick. dinner looked, smelled, and tasted delicious. My only complaint was that my curry chicken had absolutely no spice to it. It was still one of the best Chinese curry chicken I have ever had, but I think someone forgot to make it spicy. But that’s okay, because the quantity and the quality was excellent. While my parents won’t be coming back anytime soon, I’ll be sure to come here the next time I want Chinese food.
The restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly and courteous, and both my parents and I were happy about the entire experience. Definitely a place to recommend to others for the future.

Food and service was PHENOMENAL! I’d been here about 15 years ago and recall the food being amazing. Came back to introduce my husband and daughter and they LOVED it too!
The lady who was our waitress was outstanding! She gave us ample time to look over the menu, because we were not sure what we wanted! We had enough time to digest the soup, drink some tea and conversate before the main meal even came.
She kept the table «uncluttered» as we ate, without asking, when we were done with the soup she brought a to-​go container (we did not know when we ordered a bowl of soup, we were ordering a BOWL of soup! Enough for a family sized appetizer)
One item itself would have been enough for our family of 3! But I can’t complain when we have SUPERB leftovers for later!
