I’ve golfed here multiple times over the past few years. As a lefty, I really enjoy playing this course. I can turn my driver loose and slice the ball around the dog legs. I feel as if lefties have an advantage at Horseshoe Lake. Overall, though, the course is not very challenging. Beginners would be able to enjoy themselves, as there are very few hazards to deal with(only a couple of holes with water hazards). My chief complaint and primary reason for the 3-star rating is there are literally several hundred(if not, more) beer cans/bottles littered all over the place. It looks so trashy. It’s really unfortunate. If the owner paid some kid $ 100 to spend a day going around and picking up the garbage laying all over the place, it would make a huge difference. I should specify they aren’t laying in the field of play, but were all over in the woods, along the cart path, and not too far off some of the tee boxes. On the back 9, there are several extremely steep hills that you must drive the golf cart up/down. Unfortunately, the path has eroded in some of those areas and has not been touched since I first played here several years ago. Another complaint that involves lack of maintenance is the driving range to the left of the 10th hole. There are many holes in the netting and an area where the netting is gone altogether. If you hit an errant shot to the left, it’s very easy to lose your ball because range balls have made their way onto the rough in the field of play and you have to search through dozens of balls in hopes of finding your own. It’s also possible to have your ball roll into the range or travel in on the fly, at which point you stand no chance of getting your ball back. The course itself is in pretty nice shape. There had been some wet weather a few days before, but the greens still had good speed and were almost completely dry. The hole cutter they use must not be very sharp because several holes were caving in slightly on the sides, making the hole appear small while putting. A few holes seemed awkwardly uneven compared to that region of the green. I don’t want it to seem like this course is an absolute waste of time, because it’s not. As aforementioned, it’s enjoyable to play. It’s just really unfortunate that the owner seems unwilling to invest in keeping the place clean and repair some of the areas of the course that need attention.

Had a pretty enjoyable time on the course this morning. The rates are reasonable and the other groups of golfers were quick and courteous. The course is pretty and will provide you with a good time.

Horseshoe Lake is a fun golf course! I live close by and play here frequently. The staff is friendly, the course is well-maintained, the pace of play is pretty fast, and the layout is friendly for higher handicap golfers – not too long and only two bunkers in play. Yes there is some water, but just the right amount of challenge for a fun round. I buy their annual golf card which gives you four free rounds and a reduced rate for the year. It’s reasonably priced regardless.

Horseshoe Lake is a terrific place to play golf. The fairways and greens are in great shape, everything is well-maintained, and the scenery is BEAUTIFUL! I like the variety offered, different challenges on each hole. We also had lunch here a couple times. The food was GOOD and reasonable priced. I recommend looking into a «golf card» special they have going right now. It is a really great deal!

This is one of my favorite courses. Although I’m an average golfer and find this course to be very friendly and challenging. The course is usually in excellent condition and surprisingly even in bad weather, is pretty well protected from the winds(maybe I just picked the best days of the year but doubt it). Very affordable but I would not recommend trying to walk the course, especially the back 9.

Every single time I have golfed here it is monsoon season in Port Orchard! The only time I witnessed a hole in one it was here on this course during a tournament with my wife and another couple. I have always enjoyed the course and tough jungle on the fringe of the fairways. Reasonable rates and challenging play for sure.
