Back Porch Grill

This is a wonderful place to eat where you can sit outside and enjoy the view. Food is average but the scenery is what we really enjoy here.

Had lunch here while staying at Port Royal Marina. Ordered the Hungry Man Meal and believe me this is aptly named. I couldn’t finish it. It is a giant hamburger smothered in onions and mushrooms with French fries, vegetable, Texas toast and a side salad. The special for the day came with mashed potatoes so they let me substitute for the fries. It was really good. Lots of locals hang here at the bar, so we had fun talking with folks and hearing about what goes on in Port Royal and Beaufort. The restaurant is off the main road in the Villages. This is definitely worth a stop if you are in the area.

Best burger I’ve had in town.

We are on a quest to find the best burger in Beaufort. Back Porch Grill was recommended by my wife’s hair stylist. On the first day of Winter it was beautiful and warm so we decided to give ‘em a try. The restaurant patio overlooks the PR marina and the river, so we weren’t the only ones who thought about going there. They were slammed when we arrived but the server who eventually served us, greeted us and explained that they were a little backed up in the kitchen. We were not in any rush so a leisurely lunch was fine. We ordered some wine (very large pour) and worked on deciding what to eat. My wife ordered the burger (per our quest) and I had a fried fish sandwich. The food took a while to come out but we were warned. When it got to the table, it was worth the wait. We should have ordered the burger med rare instead of medium but it was juicy and very well seasoned. The fish sandwich was also good but I’ll try something different next time. That will be soon.

This place could be amazing if they could offer good food. Sadly I remember a wonderful day here with my mother when this onetime cool marina bar and grill offered a good experience. The service was really slow. Fried fried fried… not so tasty salad, or chili, or burgers… If they could put in a bit of time offering some fresh fish dishes… crap…the intercoastal waterway is RIGHT THERE… throw in a line or sumpthing!!! Its a nice spot really. Just… get…a…beer…and watch the boats.
