I’ll start with about 6 weeks ago, my first visit to Mane. I called first and spoke with Alex(fe) who was awesome on the phone and I ended up booking with her. Went in for my appt, unsure of what I wanted besides some new layers. Had never had my hair colored before(yikes!) and it was due. I later found out Alex was fairly new there and ‘in training’ but I’d have never known it. I told her I wanted something appropriate for my age but with a little jazz. She took into consideration my skin tone and face, etc and concocted a color that I and the other gals in the salon just loved. I still love it. What I did NOT love was the OWNER of this place, a male, bald, name unknown to me. He barked at this poor girl pretty much from the time she started working with me. Mind you, he knew this was my first coloring experience and while he did compliment the way the color was coming out, he relentlessly scolded Alex in the back room, so loud I could hear it clearly. Not about how she was doing my hair, but something trivial about where to put something away. She was visibly upset when she came out and I was PISSED that he chose to do this basically in front of customers instead of quietly. Him coming up to her/us and pointing out to do something a certain way was FINE, that’s training someone, but the other trivial BS and yelling was so out of line. If I hadn’t had a head full of dye I’d have walked out, literally. Thankfully, he left for the day and she went on to cut my hair, blow it dry and it turned out GREAT, for a grand total of $ 70.(I have mid length/mid back hair). Jumping back to today, I looked in the mirror this morning and could see my old color in the roots and thought Uh Oh. I wanted to drop in to say hey and to make an appt to get the roots done. I walked in to find the owner talking to another employee(chatting) and I stood there for at least a full minute looking at them having a conversation. HELLO, Customer here. @@ Finally he addressed me and I asked for Alex and he informed me she was no longer employed there. I asked if Trish was still employed there.(Trish was working the booth next to Alex and I saw someone who she colored and it was GORGEOUS, very talented and lovely woman Trish is, I want to be clear about that). So then I asked him how much it would be to color my roots and he told me around $ 70. WHAAAT ?? I’d just had a cut, color and blow for $ 706 weeks ago. He said(paraphrasing) that she didn’t charge me correctly. Well, Trish was there helping Alex check me out and they were discussing it so I find it really hard to believe that BOTH girls go the price wrong… I said, «OK, how about w/out the blow dry» and he whips out a chart and says«I’ll do it for 55 but for your length hair it should be around $ 70.» Wait, WHAT? I am admittedly NEW to the whole hair dye experience but he made it very clear they just do the roots, so, what in the HELL does the length of my hair have to do with it? When I asked him that, he just referred back to his ridiculous chart and said, «Your hair falls about this length.» I swear to God I thought I was being punked. Then he proceeds to say that last time I was there Alex took WAYYYY too long to do my hair and it should never take so long… He also said, and I quote, «Alex isn’t a hairdresser… She WANTS to be a hairdresser, but she’s not yet, and that’s why she’s not employed here anymore.» That’s about strike 6 with this guy, badmouthing someone who did an AWESOME job on my hair. THEN, even after all this I thought, ‘Yanno, I’m here, I may as well book the appt, they know my color.’ He goes to pull my card, THERE’S NOCARD… The card I filled out personally with name & ph number and Alex wrote my color solution, is GONE… They have no record of what they did to my hair. I said, «Wow, just, WOW,» and walked out, and I will never, EVER return to that ‘salon.’ I want to be clear that Trish(whom I only know by watching her do two people’s hair while I was there) was very professional and I’d not hesitate to go to her, EXCEPTFORTHEFACT that she works for a JACKASS whose establishment I will never set foot in again nor recommend to anyone. I give MANE2 stars because the original price was good(but then it got jacked and there is one nice lady(Trish) working there… I have no knowledge of any other stylists there). Be very very careful if you’re going in for more than a plain hair cut; Make sure you know the prices ahead of time because there was some definite playing with numbers. Oh and while this was all going on, the price difference, losing my records, he never ONCE said, «Don’t worry, we can rectify this, we can figure out your color, we can help make this right.» NOT A WORD. Just a stupid look on his face like he couldn’t give a rat’s behind whether I was a customer or not. Hope your arrogance is worth it, Owner, whatever your name is. :P
