We were visiting from out of town and were a bit hesitant due to some of the other reviews we read, but we decided to take a chance. Glad we did. The beef phở may be the best I’ve tasted in years. Mix in some fish sauce, lime, Saracha, and Housin sauce, and it is soooooo good.(Don’t forget to ask for fish sauce and extra lime) The inside of the restaurant is not especially fancy, but the Phở makes up for it. Service was very responsive and helpful.

Great phở! I had the«beef stew» which is actually just phở with bigger chunks of meat and some added carrots. I know I liked it a lot more than my wife would have if she had been with me. The problem for her(and I’m sure various others) is that some of the meat is a bit fatty and Americans have generally decided that fat is bad, disgusting, etc. But you can work around that ff this is like any other phở place — just order the meats that aren’t so fatty. Phở Thao is just across the street from the Pourhouse, which is probably the best place in Port Townsend to get beer. The Pourhouse doesn’t offer much in the way of food but they do have menus from Phở Thao and various other local restaurants. You can order a Phở Thao lunch from your table at the Pourhouse and they’ll deliver or you can order lunch at Phở Thao and ask them to take it across the street when it’s ready. I like the second option better.

I like this place. I am not a fan of VietNam’s cuisine, but my husband really likes it, so every once in awhile when I am not too hungry I graciously agree to a VietNamese restaurant. Imagine my surprise at enjoying this place! We split a Banh Mi sandwich — very good! We also shared a lemon grass shrimp plate, also very good. My husband had some Singapore noodles — but at last I had met my match: way too spicy for me. But I had eaten well, and plenty, and learned my way around the menu. I would be happy to return. Next visit I will try the spring rolls with peanut sauce and have a whole Banh Mi for myself. Prices were good, portions were ample, and service(always an issue in my beloved P. T.) was prompt and friendly. This little place is a very welcome addition to the PT restaurant scene and we will be back regularly!

First time we got the sandwiches – amazing: excellent great, abundance of amazing veggies, pork was outstanding. We went again, expecting the same experience… no. Bread still very good, but very few veggies. Returned to talk to manager and let him know of our disappointing second sandwich, who was off(yeah – he works so hard!) so decided to get phở. I love phở and it’s my new comfort food. Broth wasn’t terribly great, I had asked for no cilantro but saw cilantro stems and leaves floating away, and the fried red pepper oil was WAY too spicy for me. Overall, not a good experience. Phở was expensive($ 8.50 small bowl). Hope they can work out the kinks. I want to go back but cannot afford to keep wasting my money on inconsistent fare.

Best Phở I have had in years! Rich and fragrant broth, delicious steak and melt-in-your-mouth tendon, topped with super fresh basil. I could taste the care that went into the soup and I will definitely be a regular. Great fast service, too! They deliver to the Pourhouse pub across the street.

I had high hopes for this place when it opened a few months ago. Phở in Port Townsend! I’ve since been a handful of times to try my favorite dishes, and haven’t been very impressed. They do a great job with the phở broth, but the meat is always overdone. The vermicelli dishes are good, but are pretty skimpy on the meat, especially for the higher than average price. I know this is a small town, but $ 9 for a large phở?! Come on! The stir frys are good. The service leaves something to be desired. Hope things improve a bit, and I’ll come back again
