We were having a hard day and hadn’t eaten, we were tired and excited to see that there was something other than a sports bar open. We went in and ordered and got it «for here», we sat down and realized they were getting ready to close. We felt bad for not looking at the hours when we came in, we then decided we were so tired it sounded better eating back at our room across the street anyway. The staff was so nice about us coming in to eat at the last minute and even more gracious to us for asking them to wrap it up after already plating it. They were just awesome about everything. We get back to the room and were blown away with the food. Best Hawaiian I’ve had yet. I haven’t had much but this has to be the gold standard. The kalua pork was tender and juicy and had a great flavor, didn’t want to put any sauces on it. The moco loco was real ground beef, not a patty, and seasoned to perfection. Loved the Mac salad too. Will definitely be frequenting.

This is my new favorite place to eat! My favorite dish so far is the kalua pork or the shoyu chicken. One dish is big enough to feed 2 people. The staff are very friendly and helpful! This is a family friendly restaurant.

When it comes to Hawaiian food, my go-to is usually Roxy’s Island Grill but last year my parents took me to try 808 Grinds’s brick-and-mortar location(their truck used to come to my high school once a month during lunch time so I had already tried that before and liked it). I really enjoyed it! I like to order Da Combo, a teriyaki chicken and kalua pork plate lunch combo because I like both teriyaki chicken and kalua pork and am indecisive. It’s very tasty as is the rice and mac salad that comes with it. Sometimes I refrain from ordering it because of the large portion though, in which case I get just a teriyaki chicken plate. The staff at 808 Grinds are pretty friendly and helpful every time I’ve gone there. It’s always pretty quiet when I go there, probably due to its somewhat out-of-the-way location but I find the peaceful environment pleasant. The tables and facilities always look clean. All in all, the food here is tasty, the restaurant itself is well-kept, service is friendly, and I’m very happy to have found another good plate lunch place in PDX. Will definitely keep going and hopefully get to try their guava chiffon cake sometime.

Despite it’s tall sign in the parking lot, 808 is somewhat unnoticeable. I used to drive by this place everyday for a year. And then one day I decided to check it out, and man was I glad I did. It’s at the end of an old strip mall, but I found the inside to be very clean. They have awesome fried Chicken(not like American fried Chicken– think Japanese style Karaage), and Hawaiian desserts that can be purchased in individual size or party size(at a very reasonable price). They have shirts and other memorabilia that can be bought while waiting for your order. Quality food, reasonable price, friendly people working the counter. I’ll be back!

I went for the first time this week. and I have been there twice now in 3 days. The food here is fantastic: +good portions +good quality +creative +clean & vibrant flavors +friendly staff & great customer service I lived in Pearl City(Oahu) for 5 years when I was younger and this food brings me back to those days. Can’t wait for the rest of my family to check it out.

Had this for the first time today after being a LOYAL Bamboo Grove customer. Still love BG, but this was also very very good. I got the chicken combo and it was delicious. Extremely generous portions. The mac salad was much lighter than BG’s and more flavorful. I only knock off a star because the ahi poke was SOSALTY. Inedibly salty. I don’t know, I feel like it’s reasonable to compare the food at 808 to food in Hawaii, and none of the ahi poke I had in Hawaii were salty. The sauces I had in Hawaii were subtle and simple and light. Just enough basic soy sauce and sesame oil to enhance the fish, not overwhelm it. PLEASE fix the ahi poke sauce! I’m in desperate need of a good poke in Portland.

I really want to like this place. I love Hawaiian food and pretty much anything teriyaki. I stopped in to get dinner for the family, and having never been here before, I decided to order a few different items to share. Loco Moco, Shoyu Chicken, Da Combo, and Garlic Furikake Fries. I ordered the fries«light garlic» and they were pretty good. Probably would have been great if I had eaten them there instead of taking them home. Sadly, everything else was salty. Really salty. I only ate ¼ of Da Combo and tossed the rest. Even the rice was salty My husband and son ate the loco Moco patties and egg but tossed the rest. My hormonal teenage daughter took the Shoyo Chicken and stormed off to her room and I’m not gonna go in there to ask how it was. Too dangerous!

Good food, but compared to Roxy’s this is just subpar.

From the made to order spam musubi to the Huli chicken, this place rocks. I have only been to the café but plan to check out their food cart on ninth and Washington. This place never disappoints, the food and the service are first rate. Don’t overlook the desserts, they have a traditional and chocolate Haupia, also a Banana cream pie that is outstanding.

808 café in the 503! I like the name, the creativity and the originality of the Hawaiian café inside and at the tail end of the Cedar Mill shopping plaza. But the café looks more of a diner. Assumingly that was what the Hawaiian café was previously. On my debut, I bought couple of items to-go to take back to my hotel. I had the Hawaiian Beef stew, which was one of the specials from that day. For $ 8.50, I get a hefty serving of beef stew and mixture vegetable in thick and spicy gravy over rice. Like most Hawaiian plates, the portion is very generous. The beef stew was very tender and the gravy adds a kick and excitement with the white rice. If it is possible, hopefully I can obtain the recipe and make my own. This is a very homemade and comforting rice plate special. I also got a pair of Spam Musubi for $ 2.00 each. The pair was still warm by the time I got to my hotel in Downtown. I paid my meal with cash. Credit Cards are also accepted. The people working there are friendly and make me feel like I was in Hawaii. Except I need a garland and an «Aloha» greeting from these friendly peeps.

Tastes like home. We had poke, kalua pig, fired chicken and loco moco. Everything was amazing. My husband is born and raised in Hawaii, he loved every bite. The place smells amazing, just like a luau when u walk in. Service was on point. We will be making this our regular Hawaiian food joint. Ono kine grindz!

Hard to believe that I could enjoy Hawaiian more than Roxy’s. Love the menu here. Love the sauces. Love the people!

FINALLY A GOODPLACEFORHAWAIIANINBEAVERTON!!! I really wanted to like Hawaiian time :(but it jsut never worked out. I’ve tried their Spam Musubi, Trifecta, Short Ribs. Garlic Furikake Fries, and Mac Salad. So far I’ve been a fan everything. I noticed their chicken was a little dry and I wasn’t aware they didn’t give you sauce before hand. So when I ordered for take out, I didn’t get any of their awesome teriyaki sauce or sweet wasabi! They should probably add a sign or say there’s sauce over there that you should grab before headed out.

I have had the pleasure of having 808 for the first time at Intel from their food truck, and I had no idea they had an actual restaurant! The location isn’t desirable, it is in a seedier part of the Portland/Beaverton area. The inside is typical of a Hawaiian restaurant in Oregon. Not much as for décor or ambiance. But the food is great! I recommend the shoyu chicken, you cannot go wrong with that!

Whatever you get, make sure you order a slice of their Guava Chiffon Cake for dessert. It’s a certified banger and a big enough slice to feed two people! It’s light and not too sweet and tastes like guava(duh). This space is larger and better lit than Roxy’s. I might prefer Roxy’s mac salad better but both of these Hawaiian restaurants’ main entrees tastes authentic, delicious, and filling. I’ve tried the loco moco at both locations and it tastes the same. This restaurant is located in a old and run down plaza which is super random. If you miss turning into the plaza and keep going straight, you’ll end up on the 26 fwy which is a big no no. So you’ve been forewarned — do not miss the plaza entrance.

The best Hawaiian food in PDX. Just…awesome. We tried the Shoyu Chicken + 808 Fried Chicken combo, in addition to a Kaluha sandwich. The Shoyu Chicken is «slow-cooked for hours in a garlic-ginger-soy marinade.» All of it is sublime, super fresh and tasty. We’re also big fans of awesome Hawaiian mac salad and it is super good here. Multiple extra sauces are available if you want to switch things up a little. I forget what its called, but the creamy green wasabi sauce was really really good with the 808 Fried Chicken. This location has a really nice inside eating area + a small outside(mostly covered) area with 3 – 4 picnic benches– which was awesome for dining with our dog.

BF wanted to come here for lunch today since we were in the area(and we are rarely in Beaverton), and I was kind of luke-warm with the idea. He LOVES teriyaki and I like, but definitely don’t love it. Glad he talked me into it! I ordered the Kalua Pig sandwich with a side of mac salad. So freaking good! I’ve ordered the exact same thing at a couple of other places that we’ve eaten at over the last few months, and both the sandwich and mac salad were definitely better here. For starters, the sandwich was huge! Filled with succulent kalua pig and shredded cabbage — really, really good. And the mac salad was the best I’ve had in Portland — creamy and really flavorful. The service was also great — really friendly and pretty fast. There was plenty of seating inside and three picnic tables outside. We will definitely be back, 808!

Pretty standard Hawaiian menu from what I’ve seen in Maui/Kauai. Shoyu chicken was good but not great. Same with the 808 combo plate. Would probably try something different if we come back. Staff was really friendly and the place was cleaner than similar places that we ate at in Maui. Can’t decide if everything seemed mediocre because it just was… or if it has anything to do with eating it in cool overcast Oregon vs hot sunny Maui.

I have been hearing about this place and kept meaning to drop in. Today was the day. It is a bit hard to find on the far end of a strip mall in Cedar Mills. Once inside it looks fine, nothing fancy; I read the menu and ordered the two chicken combo. While I waited I looked around and took some pictures to post. I noticed about half the groups had at least one person in scrubs, Several others wore what appeared to be St V’s badges. Then in no time they called my order. The fried chicken was very good, the other was great, the women at the counter told me where to find sauces but none were needed, it came with 2 scoops of steamed rice and one of macaroni salad, the rice was perfectly cooked, I am not a fan of any mac salad so I’m not going to review it because what do I know? With a fountain drink it came to 10;50 so not to bad, especially as that chicken was the best! I do wish they had the drive through working, They seem to use it to park their food truck. and the window had kitchen stuff in front of it. It seems to be a friendly place, I heard the staff chatting with regulars and giving one young guy a hard time about dressing up. I didn’t notice any music which was fine by me. I will be back.

Every Saturday our work place buys us lunch to keep the employees at work to help with a busy day and not leave the store to get food on their own. This Saturday we chose 808 Grinds Café and we were happy with the results. We had a mix of 808 Chicken, Kalua Pork, Shoyu Chicken and Char Siu Sandwiches. I had the 808 Chicken and it was very good. It had great flavor and wasn’t soggy from being in the to go container. The 808 sauce that came with it made the dish. Thou I didn’t try the other dishes except for a bite of the Shoyu Chicken(which was good also) there were good comments thru out the team. I do wish the portions of rice and macaroni salad were a little larger. I was more impressed than I have been with Roxy’s lately. So if you are over here on this side of town then do yourself a favor and try it out.
