9Round PDX Fitness

Fun — I had no idea I’d love hitting the bag as much as I do. :) Very strong workout — my back/​shoulders feel it in particular, which is where I need it most (since I slump at a computer so much). Convenient with no class times.
30 minutes is 10x better than 60 minutes! Trainers are pretty good — Steve, especially, motivates well. Free bottles of water for members, too.
Probably my favorite overall gym/​class experience yet.
Only complaints: wish they had a shower.

Ok, well their response, which yall can read below, is a bit mean-​spirited but does clear up some things. I hope it’s clear from my initial review that I wasn’t, and am still not, upset about any of the things they accuse me of (the $ 20, their policy, the missed class, etc.) — I am only upset about how their employee spoke to me, which is what I believe is important for potential clients to consider when choosing a business to support. I understand that their instinct is to have their trainer’s back, of course it is, but their decision to make presumptuous personal attacks towards me further demonstrates the weird, aggressive pattern I experienced. But hey, we can all get defensive and I still appreciate them taking the time to explain what happened from their perspective. Clearly their reputation is important to them and I better understand now that the staff count and circumstances may have affected his attitude. I just wish he’d told me that he was swamped in the first place so I didn’t leave that conversation bewildered by his contentious tone. Even though their goal was not to make me feel better about the situation, their response did shed some light on what I experienced… though I still believe this whole situation should have been handled with more class and respect.

We went for our free session and it was a great workout. We decided to join but wanted to put it off until I returned from a business trip. Steve told us that it was no problem to sign up that day and he would post date our membership for 5 days. That’s where we made our first mistake — trusting 9 Round to keep their word. About 6 weeks into our membership I was injured and am under doctors orders not to do any aggressive exercises, like 9 Round. I immediately called and emailed 9 Round and was told I needed to talk to Steve. He finally returned an email asking why I wanted to suspend my membership and after I gave him details he never responded again. Ten days before our 90 day membership was up I sent another email asking just to cancel and was told that we could not cancel our membership because we didn’t give 30 days notice, which is not true. I stopped by to talk to Steve but he was busy and the woman at the desk told us we needed to fill out a form and wait 30 days to cancel. First I heard about that. Of course, 9 Round kept the only copy of the form so I have no record that this ever took place. It’s clear to me that 9 Round is more interested in deceiving their customers out of recurring revenue than they are about being ethical. The trainers were nice and the workout was ok, but be warned that you will be dealing with a management team that will do everything they can to deceive you.

This workout is no joke! I have been in town with the Phantom tour and have already been twice and planning on a third time before leaving Portland. Great full body workout in 30 minutes and the bonus is that you are pushed by a trainer the whole time. Go! You won’t regret it!

Steve has kicked my ass 3 times this week while in town for Phantom of the Opera. This place is legit and a great way to get a full body workout in, full out, in 30 min. And it’s fun. Gonna go as many times as I can before the show leaves. Thx man.

Love it here. Best work out, its perfectly scaled to each person’s ability. The trainers are awesome and really helpful.

Like most people, I feel like there is not enough time in the day to do everything. What gets lost in the day is time to take care of myself. But I can squeeze in 30 minutes to work out. The time flies because 9Round makes it fun as well as being fast paced and tough.

Best 30min workout ever!!! I have been going for 3 months now and love it. The routine changes daily and they never disappoint. Great instructors there to help and inspire you the whole way… Keep up the good work.

Was in PDX for a weekend of eating adventures, so thought we should work out once… This place is on ClassPass, so dropped in real quick. I have been going to classes etc on a consistent basis and thought, only 30min? This should be a breeze…
Nope I was wrong… You move from station to station like a crossfit gym, each one is a different and intense exercise. Even your 30 sec «break» in between is doing squats or jumping jacks or whatever. These is no rest for 30 minutes. The trainer was very nice and demonstrated each station but obviously this is not a personal training session so not too much guidance otherwise. I ended with the speed bag and it was a nice relief to actually stand and rest for a while, just to realize how bad my hand eye coordination is… Haha…

The trainers here are why I come, because they are awesome. They are always positive and energetic and make me enjoy working out! This is a very small gym, but I always break a sweat following the routine. However, due to the limited open hours I can’t make it in as much as I would like, or as much as it would take to see results.

Awesome place. You can go at your own pace and everyone is super supportive. I’m easily discouraged when I work out because I feel silly but everyone here cheers each other on. Get in, get out. I love this place.

I really cannot say enough good things about 9Round in the Pearl. This is, hands down, one of the best workout programs I’ve ever done. I tend to get bored very quickly, but not here. The workouts are different each day and each ’round’ is always challenging, but don’t be intimidated! The trainers are rad and wonderfully supportive.
If you want to get yourself into better shape, get your butt in here. It works!

Just finished my workout at 9 Rounds and the people working there were great and supportive. Can’t wait to go back!!!

You can rest when you’re dead.
I love this gym. The trainers are included in your membership and the whole workout is only 30 minutes. I’ve never had better results with any gym or routine.

It really is sweat therapy! Every workout is different and intense. Never a dull moment and lots of fun. Best part is no class times, come in and get your sweat on in 30 minutes. The trainers and owner are great and really help. Highly recommend!
