AFC Doctors Express Urgent Care

I visited this clinic on Tuesday ¹⁄₂₆. I came in for a rolled ankle. I was in and out in a short time. The Doctor that I was seen by was Dr. Lewis. She was great, and answered any questions I had. Everyone made me feel comfortable and I was well taken care of. I would definitely come back again. Plus every staff member was nice and professional.

On an icy Sunday when many urgent care offices were closed for weather or holidays and still others didn’t want to have a Medicare person on their premises even if I was willing to pay (ridiculous!) I was delighted to find this facility. I’m an out of towner who had a simple issue with a simple medication. Even with the piles of paper to sign and millions of questions asked of an unknown patient I was was insured medicated and on my way in a half hour. Quick service with smiles.

Appointment was made over the phone, setting up one through the website on my smartphone wasn’t working after several tries.
The staff were very friendly and professional. There were complimentary snacks in the lobby, though I and another patient could not manage to make the coffee pot work.
My only complaint was the wait time; it took approximately an hour from when I signed in until I was met by the Physician. The nurse put me in a examination room and I waited for a while, skimming TV. But at least she did stop by several times to tell me the Dr was held up with other patients running long.
The annual physical was straightforward and the office followed up with the results of my blood work the next day. The Dr answered all my questions and gave me tips to adjust my health for the better.
All in all, convenient location and would use again for basic PCP care.

So i went here this weekend, i saw a doctor Trentin i think it was. He was very kind, and helped me get some more IB profen for my head ache and jaw pain. I let him know my situation how my dentist prescribed me this medication for the pain, and that my doctor had prescribed me this for the pain. And that both my doctor and dentist were ping ponging me back and forth between them saying it’s more a dental issue or that it’s medical issue from both doctors and i was still in pain after icing and taking IB pro-​fen and a big anti inflammatory so i thought i would come here and get something stronger or just get some advice or i mean like anything honestly i’m really lost with all that’s happening. My wisdom teeth are growing in and making my jaw and head throb. But i was just sent away with a high dose of IB pro-​fen they told me they only treat things like this with ice and ib profen… even though i came here a month ago in agony and they prescribed me higher pain medication. At least he listened to me, more then my doctor or my dentist (and the doctor i saw at this location a couple weeks ago). But still sent me away to deal with my pain alone. Am i unable to measure my own pain? Or is the doctor here thinking i’m just lying? Second time i’ve been turned away when i’m suffering But ill say this, the doctor this time was kind at least. Never see Dr. Levin he’s rude and doesn’t care. What i’m concerned with is my well-​being, the fact that my everyday life is really crappy because i’m in pain, and Dr Trentin, he made a good point that if they put me on stronger meds that it may make it worse that i might do things that i wouldn’t normally do because of not feeling the pain. I’m grateful for Dr. Trentin and the advise i really needed to hear. So i’ll continue to deal with it until i get a answer from my Dentist.

I was treated at this location for a broken foot, and received great care. I was seen by Jennifer Barlow, P.A. and and x-​ray technician, Mr. McKey. If you’re looking for quick x-​rays and a nice staff, then this place will do you right. When seen by the P.A. I did feel like she had a penetrating way of asking questions, and that could be taken the wrong way if you’re concerned that you may be suspected of wanting pills for non-​medical reasons. I was prescribed Vicodin, even though I said I hadn’t been in pain (and I don’t plan to fill the prescription), so in my case it seems they deemed me fit for pain meds. Overall, it was a quick and seamless visit, and was exactly what I needed.

Went in wirh what I suspected was pneumonia. and was mocked by the dr and sent home with nothing other than a diagnosis of viral bronchitis. He didn’t even do an xray. I am now on my 4^th day in the hospital with a severe case of bacterial pneumonia. I doubt I would be in the hospital if he had spent more than five. minutes with me. Also, the. folks at the front desk spent more time talking to a sales rep than any patients. Would not recommend for anyone.

My 80 year father was feeling horrible and after a few days wanted to see a doctor. Of course it would have to be on a weekend at 7 pm. I frantically looked up all the urgent care in his area but nothing was open. I ended up driving half an hour to doctors express. The front staff was wonderful. My dad had misplaced his Medicare care so they helped me locate his information online. The dr who saw was very patient and never did we feel rushed even though we arrived 20 minutes before they closed.

I called and made an appointment with them. I left work to accommodate their only appointment for the day. When I got there, they were very rude and said I had a long wait. Then I noticed they put me as a «walk-​in» in the visitor queue so I was the last to be seen (The order is emergency, appt, then walk-​in). What was the point of calling and scheduling an appointment, then leaving work just so I can wait in their lobby for an hour. The location is absolutely horrible as well. I went to them because they’re the urgent care covered by my insurance but I will definitely only be going to their other locations from now on.

They were absolutely great. I arrived in a lot of pain. They did the best they could to make me as comfortable as possible and listened attentively to what was going on for me.
Ultimately they had to send me to the emergency room, but they called ahead and made sure my check in at the hospital went smoother.

The staff was friendly, helpful and informative. Very quick service for a late evening emergency.

First the girls at the front desk were very rude.
My visit was November 14^th at 4:30 pm. The «Dr.» I saw seemed clueless as to why I was visiting, cut me off while I was talking, prescribed medications that I did not need — ibuprofen 600 mg, which tears my stomach up and gives me ulcers! He didn’t even ask what I can and can’t take!
I was in so much pain, I felt like I was swallowing nails each time I swallowed or coughed which was very frequent. My mother called the next day to say I needed a stronger or different medication and they forgot to call me back! hours later they were no help, telling me I’d need to be checked out again. Yeah f’in right!
The «Dr.» Didn’t even prescribe me an antibiotic for bronchitis! Luckily I had a z-​pack (azithromycin) at home and treated myself! The «dr» was worthless and useless! I will never ever be back and I will be letting my friends and family know about my horrible experience.
The first time I visited was just as bad with a different «dr». Where do they get these people? Are they med school flunkies?
And they sent my prescriptions to the Safeway across the street when I specifically told them where I go, which isn’t there! So I went across town at 8:30 to get all my meds and they didn’t have them. My discharge papers said they were sent to my pharmacy, but when I tried to pick them up they were at that Safeway and closed by the time I got there. Idiots!

Much better.
The second time around, they seem to be getting it right.
Pros:
The doctor, Dr. Columb, was attentive and thoughtful.
They offered vaccinations, and outside support, if necessary.
Cons:
See my other review. It shouldn’t have taken two visits to get my medication right, and there should be an on call doctor returning phone calls timely.
The wait was too long for an appointment setting. If you go, plan more time off work than you were originally anticipating.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!
I called ahead of time to see what time they closed and how many people were ahead of me, they told me to come in. They’re was 2 people ahead of me. Therefore, I drove 5 miles with my 3 month old (I was trying to be seen for strep throat and strep rash on my neck) once inside I told them my situation and the male secretary said they couldn’t see me because they quite seeing people at 7:30. By now it was 7:34 on the dot. I begged him. He then asked the female secretary who then told me the same thing and to come back tomorrow, then I stated how far I drove with a 3 month old and she said «sorry Hun». Considering the fact I was told on the phone to «come on in, they would see me»… Boils my blood so I let her know that and I said you should hire better secretary’s that won’t falsify that I can be seen. She then quoted «well I didn’t hire him». Shame on you. These associates were not caring or on top of their game. Very disgusted.

I havent been therev, but I did call to ask them if they could fix my disabled friends catheter that had come out. The receptionist was very rude. I would not go there.

No stars! Horrible experience after two decent ones. Had the same experience with Dr. Tracey Columb treating me like a junkie. Also another review mentioned strep throat, and meningococcal, Columb also sent us to the ER with my 7 year old on the same line as the other review on another visit. She is no help. One of her comments «if I’m looking for more narcotics she’s not going to give them to me» left me in tears and frustration, why you may ask, because I wasn’t asking for any!!! I volunteered (key word volunteered) prescriptions that were not working for my shoulder/​joint pain. Dr. s want to do physical therapy because I am not sitting up straight. Maybe it is because my shoulder is in extreme pain! Duh. When I became frustrated of her accusing me if asking for narcotics, she offered me anxiety and sleeping pills because I seemed anxious.
Bleeping ridiculous! I will never go here again! I informed the dr. That I wasn’t anxious, nor asking for narcotics and how insulting she was that it was just frustrated she treats patients the way she does. I left feeling insulted and scared of what this awful dr. May put in my medical record.

Avoid this place. The doctor saw me for all of two minutes for an ear infection. They charged me $ 240. A week after the bill came, they started calling aggressively to collect the ball — on Saturday evenings, Sunday mornings. Terrible service in the office and afterward, too.

I brought in a 17 year old on July 5, thinking she was having another strep throat issue — hoping to get a weekend diagnosis and get her on antibiotics as quickly as possible. Yes, the waiting room was clean, comfortable, and we were seen within 30 minutes — although, the waiting room had only two patients.
She had been through the strep throat routine more than a few times, so I ran a quick errand leaving this very confident, smart and capable teenager to start the intake when they called her — texting questions and suggestions until I could return.
Although, she made it clear it might be strep, they opted for a blood test instead of the routine throat culture — ???
What gives this place a 1* rating was the ensuing stupidity of the doctor to suggest she might have meningococcal disease and needed to go to ER — «It can kill you within six hours…» He also insisted she had no fever, but my mere hand could tell she was burning up! This sick but very rational teen was brought to tears and cries of «I don’t want to die» as we drove to ER.
Thankfully, we saw an ER doctor who did pass Basic Triage 101 and Bedside Manner, who very quickly and with a veiled eye-​roll discount his «musings» and yep, a very bad throat infection WITH a fever — antibiotics, she is now fine. We always look for the lemonade — important lessons learned about the under-​belly of healthcare and why they call it medical «practice.» She will be much wiser heading off to college.
What a waste of $, valuable ER resources and worst of all — doing harm to this dear one’s psyche!

Avoid this place. I came here after a bad car accident in a lot of pain. Dr. Columb treated me like a junkie when I told her at the over the counter pain meds were not enough. She tried convincing me there is no difference between over the counter ibuprofen and prescription ibuprofen. She was really heartless and indifferent. She shouldn’t be allowed to treat patients. I recommend a different urgent care. Luckily the assistant manager arrived a helped me or it would have been a waste of time. Don’t waste your time, find an urgent care with a doctor that cares about their patients.

Waste of time and money, didn’t provide me with the service I needed.
I needed a TB test for work. The person who checked me and the nurse who did the test told me to return in two days. When I returned, I was told I needed to come back after 48 hours. So I came back the next day and was told it was over the 72 hours and the test was null and void, I would have to pay for it again.
At no point did anyone at the office tell me about a 48 – 72 hour window. When I complained that they wasted my time and money, they lied and said they had told me. No. Trust me. I am a Type A person. I would have remembered.
I went down the street to a different Urgent Care place on Sandy. The TB test was cheaper there AND they were VERY clear about the 48 – 72 hour window… not only did the receptionist and the nurse mention it to me, they wrote it down for me (without me asking) and scheduled my follow-​up appointment to be at the correct time.
Lesson learned. Avoid Doctors Express… unless you have time and money to burn.
