I completely agree with Martha. My experience with Dr. Matz and the staff at Arborview is a PHENOMENAL one. Before going to Dr. Matz, I literally cried at an appointment with my previous dentist because I was so afraid of what they were putting in my mouth– the filling material smelled like paint thinner and the hygienist told me to put bleach in my mouth to increase the pH. I do not even clean with that stuff!
Arborview is SO different from another other dentist office I have been to. It is a breath of fresh air and exactly how every dentist office should be. Dr. Matz spent a significant amount of time asking about my health history and teaching me about what was going on in my mouth and how it relates to my overall health. He was truly interested and compassionate. It is hard to have fairly significant health issues at a young age (I am 23), but Dr. Matz reminded me that I am doing a good job and to keep pursuing the root cause. I highly recommend him and his staff!

Had to cancel my appointment super last minute due to my child being sick and I called and left a message. Called back 3 times to reschedule. Finally reached someone and was told the dentist said not to accept me as a client because I canceled without notice. I get it! It’s super inconvenient. But shit happens. And my daughter getting sick was also inconvenient. Guess this dentist doesn’t need more clients. Good luck with your intolerance dude. I really needed your help due to you being the only dentist close that deals with biological dentistry.

GO HERE NOW! The experience the other reviewer described seems really OFF for Dr. Matz’s office and staff. Now, that being said, I know there was a time a couple of years ago when a serious family emergency caused the practice to temporarily pause for a moment. But, like all small, local businesses, this is one of the things we clients, customers, and patients need to accept as a tradeoff as opposed to the outright malpractice that can come along with larger HMO-​type dental and medical practices. I know; I’ve been through that. Dr. Matz saved me from horrible dental work that had been done on me by one of these franchise –type places. That other outfit wanted to pull teeth, not practice actual dentistry. Dr. Matz, however, saw me on the night before Thanksgiving (never having met me before), relieved my immediate pain and suffering, and set up appointments to address the underlying issues of my dental problems at the time. I’ve been going to him for over 10 years ever since, along with the rest of my family. I always look forward to our appointments, knowing that I am going to be seem as a whole person, not just a mouth :-) Dr. Matz’s skill and bedside manner (or whatever it’s called in dentistry) are the best I’ve ever seen. I take medication that causes me to have more dental problems than other people, and I’ve been going to dentists faithfully all my life. This one’s a keeper.

I had a mixed experience here. The dentistry was thoughtful and skilled enough to pass muster. But when I called a year later to get my records and xrays sent to another dental office I’m now using, covered under my health insurance, this was my experience:
I called twice in a week (about a month before I needed the records sent to the new office) and never heard back. Both times I called during regular business hours, and not at lunch, the phone rang and rang, and each time I reached a machine that told me to leave a message, that they might be «helping a customer.» That was fine, it just sucked that I never, ever got a call back from either message. Records held hostage, it would seem.
Now weeks later, as my other dental appointment looms on the horizon a few days away, the new office still has not received the records. So I called today and decided to use the other number given on the machine, which happened to be the cell phone of Dr. Matz, the dentist here. I explained to him what had happened and what I needed. He told me «We’re all away from the office for a week to attend a dental conference. Call back and leave a message on the machine.» I told him I’d done that and hadn’t heard back from his office, and that I was now worried that I’d have to repurchase (and undergo) unnecessary xrays from the new office because they wouldn’t get my records in time. He told me that they’d order all new xrays anyways (not actually true), and I said that the professional course of action would have been for his office to just return my call and send my records over weeks ago when I submitted two unrequited requests within the course of a week, and to let me and my new dentist determine what xrays are necessary for me to receive.
He then RAISED HIS VOICE at me. I shit you not. I was yelled at by a dentist. He said something about «Listen MAAM, you don’t even know blach blach sdfdf…» And so I said «You don’t have to get weird about it, I just want my records.» And, white-​knuckling his blanky and a note from his mommy, he said, «You’re the one that STARTED IT!»
I said, «Whatever dude» and hung up. What else could I do? I still don’t have the records I paid to create, as Dr. Matz and his secretaries drink Mai Tais at a bar in the Ramada Inn somewhere far, far away.
