One of my preferable watering holes in the Cully neighborhood. Always rotating taps, HUGE bottle selection, and great BBQ pork sliders. Growler fills also available, and current tap lists are on their website

Not at all what we were expecting considering this is listed as a BBQ place. It’s a bar. The food was still pretty good and the selection of drinks is remarkable. The girl working the bar was very unfriendly and impatient. She was very insistent on starting us a tab but we were just there for food yet she kept pushing to start a tab. The game room in the back is fun but a little shady. I would come back here solely to get local brews for take-out because the service and vibes is enough to make me never come back.

ATMOSPHERE: Low-budget, but not awful. There was lighting over the bar, but too dim to be of any value. Nice bar, interesting, unique. Chairs and stools all matched. Music was kind of a loud 90s mix, e.g. Social Distortion. I don’t recall seeing TVs. SERVICE: It’s an order-at-the-bar place. FOOD: I ordered a trio of sliders. Asked if they came with slaw. Yep. Added a side of potato salad. I had a sinking feeling when I saw the sliders, The buns were anemic and looked like they came out a plastic bag of economy buns purchased at Safeway. The pork was okay, but inconsistent and dry. It seemed there was nothing but meat and bread, so I disassembled one and discovered there was a bit of slaw hiding in there. Potato salad came from a Sysco bucket. Or if they made it in house it was intended to emulate the stuf that comes from a Sysco bucket. BEER: Decent variety of styles and price-points. You can probably go here with some friends and find something to please everybody. Beer in coolers appeared to lack any organization, which I’m okay with. Nothing wrong with a little browsing. No price tags, at least in the cooler I looked at. Are they flat priced? I don’t get it. PRESENTATION: A cafeteria tray was topped with a sheet of paper, and my sliders went right on the paper. I gasped, then laughed. My beer was served in propper glassware. BBQ sauce was set on the bar in a plastic squeeze bottle. PRICE/VALUE: Three sliders and a side of potato salad for $ 12 would be acceptable if they were really good. But they weren’t, so it isn’t. RESTROOMS: Actually pretty decent. Well placed, lots of tacky beer décor that totally works in a restroom, two of them, well lit. Only complaint is that paper towel dispensers must be touch-free, and these were not. OVERALL: If this place was in Estacada, I might go there for beer. Maybe. But in Portland? No.

I only drank the beer so can’t speak to the food. The atmosphere was pretty cool. Tons of outdoor seating as well. The bar tender was pleasant and helpful. I’d go back.

We were in the area searching for bbq on a Saturday evening. We went to Bottles hoping for a quick beer and bbq. Everything disappointed. FOOD Worst barbeque of my life. The only options are pulled pork slider, pork ribs, or chicken wings. And that’s on a weekend! The pork ribs were so tough and chewy we couldn’t finish them. I noticed that on other customers’ plates they’d also left half the stack of ribs uneaten. For $ 14 a plate it was a total waste — of food, appetites, and money. The«house smoked» meat is seriously mislabeled and misleading. We got the turkey sandwich but the turkey tasted and looked like deli lunch meat. It was meagerly slapped on what appeared to be Wonder Bread soaked and toasted in butter. The sides were equally horrendous. Coleslaw tasted like old cabbage mixed with miracle whip. Carolina Caviar was sickly sweet and half soup. DRINKS There are about 10 beers on tap but the variety is odd and lacking. Most are not local. It’s nice they have kombucha on tap. The bottle selection looks decent if you’re taking beers to go. AMBIANCE Open indoor/outdoor is a nice feature, and the patio is lovely. But this seems like a place that would allow smokers so I’d be concerned about bringing people who are sensitive to cigarettes here as there’s no escape. SERVICE Awful. There was only 1 person working the entire restaurant(i.e. he acted as our bartender, server, busser, chef, grillmaster, and cashier) so I will overlook the fact that he was rude and stressed out and kept giving excuses instead of finding a solution to the problem. First — what kind of bar with an outdoor patio and full kitchen only staffs it with 1 person on a nice Saturday afternoon in the summer at 4pm? That’s crazy. Second — it’s also totally disgusting. Customers do not need to see the same hands grubbing dollar bills, touching dirty glasses, and then immediately dealing with the smoker out back and then plopping food in front of us. I don’t care how fast you think you can wash your hands. That just doesn’t work. Third — That meant the food took 40 minutes to arrive. We were seated at the bar and clearly there for a meal. It was obvious the person working was more intent on getting people drinks rather than tending to the food but it was also clear that no one else was doing it either. He was muttering how backed up he was but that was after 20 minutes of waiting already. Bottles — it’s fine that you don’t have staff enough to handle us. Just TELLUS before we order so we can all avoid the chaos and bad experience! We would have gone elsewhere and wouldn’t have given this awful review or had such a bad time. In conclusion, this place should be listed as a bar exclusively, not as a bbq spot. I’d only go back if I lived nearby and needed a bottle shop and there were no other options. I might return if I were desperate for an outdoor patio and lived nearby and everything else was closed.

Pinball & Beer(bottled and tap)(yes old school pinball) you remember the game that you«put your HIP into it» Dog friendly Smoked food These are the highlights of my many visits here. Bottles is pretty original and totally worth a visit Staff seems to care about customers and at times you kinda feel like you’re at a friends house. That’s a good thing… I would love to see a front remodel, move the BBQ smokers to the back and put more outdoor seating and a new awning, this place would rock even more. Being in one of the best neighborhood in Portland there is so much upside, as well as 200 feet away from the great Jim and patty’s coffee shop. Pinball anyone? Please don’t drink and play guitar.

They’ve got a lot of stock and they carry some really quality stuff it’s hard to locate without ordering through the mail. Very customer oriented and helpful in person — not always so dependable over the phone. Sorry to see that they are fazing out many brands to replace them with their own brand… just don’t have an opinion on how well some of those new products hold up to better known brands.

This place has great beers and is usually amazing. The Attitude of the girl working tonight is ridiculous. As soon as our party of four sat down she let us know that she wasn’t supposed to be here tonight and was not happy about being here. She took half of our order and then disappeared for 10 minutes. She was nothing but attitude the entire tie we drank our beers. Without her, this place is 5 stars.

I love coming to bottles for Timbers away games. They usually have a raffle for tickets, scarves, jerseys, etc. The food is outstanding(I had the pulled pork sliders) and they serve a TON of food. The beer selection is amazing. My one complaint is that it can be a little tough to get a good spot to view the games, but it usually isn’t too crowded.

I didn’t really get to spend a ton of time here but thought the idea behind it was pretty cool. The environment was fun and they even had games and shuffleboard in the back.

This is the best place ever if you’re craving a specific beer, whether or not you know what that beer is. I seriously think they need a new sign though. I’ve missed it even with my eyes peeled.

The place is seemingly small, but then one encounters the back game room, the side room, and then the spacious patio outside. The emphasis is on great beer. And they have a fine variety in bottles or on tap. The staff are wonderful as well — extremely knowledgeable.

This is an awesome tap house! They do not have a full bar. This place offers taps of about 10 beers and usually a cider or two. They also have Kombucha Mama on tap. You can get pints here as well as growler fills. This is a spot with a lot of regulars. Everyone is super friendly and it has an awesome friendly neighborhood vibe. I like the open atmosphere. There is a bar in the front, tables with chairs, as well as a back room with some pinball. They have multiple fridges with bottles… hence the name :) You can get a number of beers and ciders that they will open on house for you or you may take it to go. Prices are reasonable. They have a few food items but I haven’t tried any of it. Some of the items include Mac and cheese, pulled pork sliders, prosciutto and cheese plate, hummus plate, spare ribs, and wings.

The former location of Jim and Patties has been switched to a great little beer spot. Friendly people good beer on tap and a huge selection of bottles. This little bar doubles as the bottle shop as well. Pick up a few rare beers to drink there or if you like grab a six pack for $ 10 to go. You can even mix and match your bottles to go six pack will still be $ 10. While they are not known as a restaurant they do some pretty damn good barbecue as well. If you stroll by before they open you will smell the smoker and it will make your mouth water. The outside seating area makes this bar a summer paradise. Plenty of seats in a lush yet private outdoor area will have to you wanting to come back for another summertime beer. If you are a gamer they got you covered especially if you are a gamer born in the 70s or 80s. They have a great little room with couches and old-school Nintendo that you can play.

I’m proud to have Bottles in my neighborhood. The stories you’ve read in the other reviews here are all true — with the names changed to protect the guilty, of course — so I won’t repeat the usual. Most important, those that work in this fine establishment are polite, friendly, and knowledgable about the seemingly thousands of beers they carry. Cheers, Bottles!

Bottles! I loved this place. It reminded me of one of my absolute FAVORITEBARS back home in LA– Sunset Beer Company! The place is lined with refrigerators full of different beers and ciders. The selection is fantastic and it would be impossible for someone to come in and not be able to find something they like. There is plenty of seating inside, but they have an absolutely BEAUTIFUL patio. That seems to be where everyone enjoys to hang out. The place is really laid back and chill. It’s a bar that is great for meeting up with friends and having casual conversation without having to yell over loud music. They also have a smoker outside for BBQ. We tried their pulled pork sliders(came with 3) and an order of their mac and cheese. Both were really good, but the main money-maker is the AMAZINGBEER selection!

Dog friendly patio, great BBQ cooked on site(BBQ pork sliders with one of my favorite sides ever, Carolina caviar!), a wide variety of bottles to chose from, friendly staff, and games a plenty(pinball and and an old school Nintendo system!) — winner, winner this place!
