I ordered their mango curry lunch plate($ 5.50): butternut squash, potatoes, mangoes, and coconut in a mild curry sauce, served over brown rice. A good-sized portion for $ 5.50. The food was OK. The presentation looked boring, not much color on the plate and nothing that really made me «happy» to eat the dish. The potatoes, squash, and mango were cooked very well. The potatoes especially fell apart wonderfully in my mouth when I bit into them. A nice, slight sweetness from the mango here. It was indeed a mild curry flavor as advertised. I would have liked bolder curry flavor and a lot more spice to liven up the taste buds. The service was pretty straightforward, nothing to write home about there.

Oh my LARGE portions! This was our first food cart we visited in Portland, and it was for breakfast. Portions were huge! Hot breakfast served all day… sigh. I had some sort of breakfast concoction with farm fresh eggs, chipole black beans, cheddar cheese(and I added avocado for $ 1). My friend had the $ 5 farm fresh eggs with chddar cheese, bacon and jam(!!!) as a sandwich. You can have yours on naan bread or gluten-free bread. There’s also gluten-free cinnamon raisin french toast. Both of our breakfast items were tasty and huge but we certainly couldn’t finish it all. Not bad for $ 6 and $ 5. Very friendly lady who served us and cooked our breakfast!

I hit this cart during another Food Cart Flash Mob, and again, another pleasant surprise. Who would have thought that a place called Buddha Bites(vegetarian is your first guess, right?) would serve a really tasty Cobb salad? This cart caught my eye while I surveyed the block with their sidewalk board reading«high protein salads», and when I saw a Cobb at the top of the list, I was hooked. The salad took a while to get, but once I got it, I could see why: they had cooked up the bacon fresh and made a warm bacon vinaigrette out of it, so that the salad was coated in warm bacony goodness. Oh mama. My only complaint was that traditionally, a Cobb salad should include avocado. This one did not, but I wasn’t too shocked, given how expensive avocados are to get this time of year in Oregon. Otherwise, awesome stuff, and I am very happy to find a cart where I can eat something that’s not just a mound of carbs with some meat on the side.

Finally tried a cart near PSU on 4th. Of the ten or so nearby, Buddha Bites had the more interesting and diverse menu. I can only handle so much grease; which unfortunately plagues many carts. I ordered the TRI-PLATE. An equal serving each of curried chicken salad, tabouli salad and apple coleslaw served on a bed of green with serving of homemade naan(I believe it was the naan– saw it on other parts of the menu and I believe that that is also what I received — and gladly; it was great.) Each were amazingly delicious and not once did I feel guilty, or, well, whatever that feeling is when you eat something that’s not good for you. Which I do a lot. But this cart offers great tasting and great feeling good for you foods. Yum! Good work!

My experiences here have been pretty hit or miss. The grilled cheese sandwich was so greasy that I felt like I was wiping butter off my face for the rest of the day. On the other hand, the quinoa tabbouleh salad is great, particularly with the additional salmon. An extra star for accepting credit cards — only cart on the block to do so.

Stopped by the other day around lunchtime and ordered a stir fry lunch special with chicken. Service was a bit slow for having so few customers but got my food within about 10 minutes of order. Inclusion of brown rice rather than steamed is a nice upside to a rather average combo of veggies, chicken and rice. In my opinion, lots of celery, not enough other stuff. Was ok overall, will probably order something else if I get the urge to stop by again.

I always come back for the quinoa tabouleh plate with tabouleh, greek salad, hummus, cucumbers, and«naan bread.» It’s full of fresh, quality ingredients which always leaves me with a refreshingly stuffed feeling.

Mint cinnamon lassi! If you read nothing else, you need to know this is amazing, possibly addicting. Not sweet, but oh so tasty and refreshing. It’s 90 out today and I could drink three in a row. Fresh mint leaves and cinnamon are a magical combination. The tri salad is a mix of curried chicken salad, quinoa tabouli, and beet coleslaw on fresh mixed greens. A very healthy feeling lunch at the carts and very filling. The toasted and buttered side of bread is mouth watering good. I found the flavor good, but more mild than my preference. The coleslaw was the best and that’s unusual for me. I also took a BLT with applewood bacon and avocado for dinner. They use the same magic bread, like cibatta and pita had a baby together. Thick slices of bacon, fresh mixed greens and tomato, ripe slices of avocado with a mayo blanket. Very enjoyable. I’d order it all again and try more of their offerings.

Buddha Bites’ brownie = heaven on Earth. Gluten-free, for those to whom it matters, and absolutely moist and delicious. And only one dollar! I bought three right away after tasting my first one. Grilled cheese with tomato and avocado on homemade naan bread = heaven in my mouth. I’ve never had such thick, dense, wonderfully flavored naan. Nor such a creative take on grilled cheese. About 4 dollars, and great value too because it’s HUGE. Greek salad(lettuce, broccoli, tomato, feta, olives) with wild-caught salmon = Heaven for my soul. Perfectly cooked & seasoned tender salmon on a bed of greens and other yummies. $ 6.50, and completely worth it. By the way, wild-caught salmon is much healthier than farm-raised, which I found out not too long ago. Less fat, chemicals, pesticides, and no dye. Also more omega-3’s. You may have to wait, especially if there’s someone in front of you in line. She makes everything fresh to order, and our order took about 10 minutes. So worth the wait though!

I’m not Buddhist, nor am I vegetarian(as I heard the Buddha was). So I thought this would be one of those tofu, sprouts, brown rice, gotta be hip kinda places, it may be; but for this carnivore it offered plenty of meat choices to satisfy my animal flesh eating cravings. I had the turkey club: large slab of tender turkey breast, strips of applewood smoked Bacon, a delicious cheese of some sort, fresh greens, thick slices of fresh tomato and an incredible sauce, all nestled in a freshly baked warm double decker sub bun. GLLLLLL(Picture Homer Simpson with his tongue hanging out) My client(Yes I took a customer to a food booth, his idea and I was glad because I love food booths) had the Chicken breast and Avacado sandwich, it looked equally as good. Besides the quality, there was plenty of quantity, I’m usually a big eater and I could not finish it, neither could my dining partner. Before we ordered we both looked over the salads, lot’s of variety there, I’ll be back to try one. There seemed to be enough variety in salads and sandwiches to suit any diet regimen, so if you are anything except perhaps a breatharian, you should be able to find something you like here. Of course if you are a breatharian, I’m sure they won’t mind if you step up on their deck and take a couple of deep breaths, no charge of course, but you could leave a tip in their jar. As I said, I’m not Buddhist, but I believe I have now become a Buddha Biteist. Or something like that.

What a find! Where else can you get fresh, delicious and healthy food at such a great price? They have made a real effort to purchase locally as well as to offer food that isn’t bound by the wheat and dairy monopoly found at other quick food carts around PSU.

Excellent quality food — the menu lists organic produce, pasture-raised meat, and other top-notch ingredients. The garlic naan, hearty beef stew, and chai were all absolutely yummy! Very friendly service, as well. I’ll definitely be back!

Not my most favorite cobb salad. I like the try for originality– apparently I got lucky and this is one of the newest food carts opened at PSU. I was surprised to see so many… and so I picked at random. Not so surprised to see a homeless man wandering aimlessly between each cart begging for money– what are you supposed to say as you’re shoving your change from your $ 20 into your backpack? I’d give some if I didn’t need it so bad. I almost wanted to say, «Sorry. the economy… you understand– right?» Anyways. I ordered a cobb salad with tempeh– figured I should try it. The salad was fresh, but lacking in the amount department. It was a little depressing to open it and see my $ 6 was like one and a half cup of salad with some remnants of blue cheese sprinkled and like 2 slices of bacon and some cold tempeh in the corner. *sigh* It also took 8 minutes to assemble the piece, which made me late to my next class… I thought the carts were supposed to be fast!
