Nice place to spill over while you are waiting for the ridiculous wait at Toro Bravo. However… save your money. ORDERDRINKSHERE so you have money left over for the Toro Bravo food tab. Trust me. Get your buzz on while you wait. This place is a cool little hole in the ground. Food buzzint out of the kitchen seemed good too.

10.50 for a sandwich the size of the palm of my hand. No fucking thank you! Bunk sandwiches, get over yourself!

Decent service, and good food. They did run out of some requests and list it on their board. They aren’t too aware of allergies but double checked none the less so I could find something given my allergies. Over all I’d come before every concert.

I’m from Seattle and I have to say this place really reminds me of an area called Capitol Hill. Exactly what I was missing, super appreciate atmosphere. Drinks well priced, great sandwiches-one of two bars I’ve ever been to, that actually delivers good sandwiches. I am definitely coming back, especially when nostalgia hits.

Ice cold roast beef… when taking it back they say that’s how they serve it. Hot bun, warm caramelized onions, cold, unmelted shredded cheese and ice cold roast beef. Bullshit, that’s how you serve it. No wonder no one is in here today.

The conversation at Bunk can, if you like, begin and end with the Cubano. I can hear the Miami purists crying«what the hell do they know about Cubano sandwiches in Portland?» Uh… Well, I’ll tell you what Bunk knows: everything and more. It’s a lot like the situation we have with Apizza Scholls. No, we don’t live in New York or New Haven. But, if you take your regional snobbery out of the equation and try the damned thing, you’ll probably think«damn, this is amazing.» So yes, the Cubano is the king of Portland sandwiches, as you’ve no doubt heard. In the heavyweight sandwich matchup of Lardo vs. Bunk, it’s really picking nits. II’ll take Lardo’s Cold Fried Chicken Sandwich if you’re offering it, but Bunk’s meatball offering spikes the ball in Lardo’s end zone and finishes off with an ornate touchdown dance. Top to bottom, I prefer Lardo because they have slightly more creative offerings,(as well as one of Portland’s best burgers). But that’s only if you force me to pick. Sometimes the only thing that will slay my hunger is a Bunk Cubano. Bunk is great. They’re taking their game over to New York City, and I hope they do well.

I’ve had their sandwiches at another location and they are impressive and tasty. The bunk bar has similar sandwiches as they do at their other bunk sandwiches locations. The drinks are similar too. I enjoy the tequila and beer combo cocktails. It’s unique, and dark inside. There is outdoor seating at this location as well. Wonder Ballroom is in the same building.

Great vibe, really good roast beef sandwich and IPA, free guest wifi, and a convenient electrical outlet tucked in the back where I could get some work done on the laptop all after noon. Thank you!

Stopped by here on our way home one evening. Friendly service but the food was medium quality bar fare. I had a chicken salad and expected to have a salad with chicken on it and got a large salad with a very large scoop of chicken salad in it. I don’t think there was any dressing. Just tasted like some lemon was squeezed over it. My partner got mole tator tots that I couldn’t eat. Maybe after a pitcher of beer they would’ve tasted good.

Mole tots are my hangover cure. So delightful! The mushroom sandwich is too. My friends all say the meatball sub is the best.

I’m going to have to come back here to give it a legit review. We stopped in briefly while waiting at table down the street. We ordered beer and tots. Both were very good but then our table opened up faster than expected so we had to rush out. We will be back…

Service was poor and rude. Didn’t say hello or goodbye, acted as if a martini is some foreign drink not to be ordered at a bar. Fyi a dirty martini contains olive juice. Uninviting.

Tried their turkey sandwich and slaw and pickles the sandwich felt awfully salty which was odd and probably wouldn’t eat it again because of that taste alone. The pickles were homemade small pickles taste good but probably not a good value for the price. The slaw was the best item and no complaints about it in fact it was very good. I’ll probably give these folks another shot and try a different sandwich next time.

Super tasty! Enjoyed the pork belly sandwich, mole tots and tomato soup. Matt Brown(bloody beer) with chili lime salt was nice and spicy-delicious! Service was quick and friendly.

Came here with my family from out of town and they loved it! My sister doesn’t love everything, so I figured that was a good sign. We had the mole tots which were incredible. The tots alone were great — had a hefty amount of crunch, good potato-to-crunchy-outside ratio and enough mole to cover all without making it soggy. My husband had the cubano which he said was great. I tried some of the pulled pork and it was pleasantly sweet while still being decidedly a savory dish. This location was really fun. It was dark and intimate yet casual. Totally recommend. My sister had the egg and cheese on hard roll with bacon, per my recommendation, and it did not disappoint!

Unique menu, good drinks(but overpriced IMHO) $ 7 for 10oz margarita. «Bus your own table.» My food was really good, flavorful. The environment is very casual. There was a decent mix of music playing while I had lunch.

The Wonder ballroom venue is an amazing venue for shows. You know what else is awesome? You can get to the show super early, snag a good parking spot and enjoy a few hours around the area but especially here. Why? You can move around and mingle easily, enjoy a few games of pinball and most of all nosh on some of the best tator tots you will ever have for a whopping four bucks. People are friendly, there’s great seating and did I mention the TOTS?

Bunk Bar, come over here and give me a big hug. You’re pulled pork sandwich, it slays me. Does it make my pants uncomfortably tight — Yes, but who gives a hoot. The apple slaw on top is the perfect addition. What’s pulled pork without slaw? And you bunk bar — you do slaw right. On some level I have to own up to the ill fitting pants issues because I can’t come and not get tator tots. For that I blame myself… or you for making them so good? Yea, let’s keep blaming you. If you take anything away from this review it should be PULLEDPORKSANDWICHALWAYSANDFOREVER. I understand there is more on the menu so I’ll go on. On a particular rainy day, you know the one, I went in for a bowl of tomato soup and a tillamook grilled cheese. The women at the bar overcharged me and even when we brought it to her attention didn’t offer to give us our money back — just kind of shrugged. As it was just a dollar I took it as my tax to the sandwich gods. Later when she half assly created my moscow mule I wasnt as willing to write this off to the alcohol gods(I’ve given them enough!) but hey, you win some you lose some. Overall the staff is wonderful and friendly with this one exception. Back to the grilled cheese — Holy Cheezus in heaven! I’ve met many-o-grilled cheeses in my life but this one is a strong contender. No lack of cheese here, it muffin tops over the bread and onto the paper. The soup is great, I’ve also had the potato jalapeño soup which is a knock out. It’s a special so keep your eyes pealed and seize the chance should it become available! Recently I tried the chicken salad with bacon and avocado which gave the pulled pork a run for it’s money. Tuna is also a winner… but not«THE» winner! I really haven’t met too much here I haven’t loved. Other then my lazy made drink but other drinks have been stellar. I’ll take this time to mention the full bar featuring a drink called the«side pipe». Who doesn’t love a good side pipe? Cheezus knows I do! I’ll purposely leave out telling you what this drink entails so your mind can wonder. A word about the space. My friend calls it «cozy» but I’ll remind you that one mans cozy is anothers claustrophobic. For me it’s a bit on the cramped side which is exacerbated during busy times such as before a show. This place is after all below the Wonder Ballroom, it’s bound to get packed. I’ve gone a few times at lunch and there is plenty of space! There is not a ton of natural light either which is a stark contrast to the SE location. If I really wanted to bring friends and enjoy a nice bunk bar get together I would high tail to the other location where there is more space and natural light to be had. All and all this location works just fine and has the same great food I’ve grown to love. They also have pinball and show sports on the TV’s. In Short: Still my favorite sandwich in town.

I am not a sandwich person. Therefore Bunk is not optimized to impress me. The Cuban here achieves the, um, disoptimized? Whatever, it’s pretty freaking good. I was gonna get the chicken salad if they could give the GF the avocado(yuck!) but she already had that idea. Next time chicken salad you are mine! Maybe it’s sandwich shops that kinda suck. The original Bunk did nothing for me but Bunk Bar is pretty sweet and not just cuz I can get all likkered up! We came after the lunch rush and the bartender was friendly and Johnny on the spot while taking care his side work. Okay, I’ll be a fan.
