Food was amazing! Maybe a little pricier than other places but worth it. They do flights on Wednesdays. Lots of French wines along with the standard Oregon/Washington varietal options but carefully chosen.

Came here on our second date, and come back every chance we get. Love the selection of wine and the owner knows her stuff.

Bad vibe after sitting at the bar. Server seemed irritated when we asked to taste one of the wines. Place is nicely set up– tables, couches, intimate spots. Perhaps she wad just be having a bad day.

I can’t say enough great things about Carmella’s. Great atmosphere, huge selection of wine, and the owner Maggie is the best. The space itself is very laid back, with a fireplace and a small patio facing water street. It’s perfect for drinks after work. I’ve tried quite a few wines here recommended by Maggie, and there wasn’t one I didn’t like. They also have some food options, and beer and hard liquor if you’re not in the mood for wine. Carmella’s also hosts different specials during the week — like old movie trivia and flight discounts — keep an eye on their social media to see what’s happening.

Ambience is nice and classy with a cozy fire. The wine was delicious. I ordered the meatballs for $ 10 — literally 4 meatballs, 2 slices of baguette, and some tomato sauce. That’s not a great deal!

Stopped in on a Wednesday night and sat in front of a roaring fire. Great atmosphere. The mushroom ragout with homemade gnocchi is amazing! Interesting and affordable wine list, we look forward to returning.

Carmella’s is a great wine bar off SE Waterfront Ave with private parking available for patrons. Great selection of wines to tasty light-heavy snacks. Food is good, but I wouldn’t recommend coming here just for dinner, unless you eat like a bird… I have a bottomless pit stomach-so I’m always hungry. The place has great ambience, intimate, clean and Maggie is very knowledgeable about the wine selection. I’ve been here for 4th of July(best way to enjoy the fireworks, great view), wine tasting and a night cap-all enjoyable and wonderful experiences.

Carmella’s Wine has great selection of wines and now it serves delicious dishes! The owner is a perfectionist for the taste and she hired an amazing chef. I tasted the shrimp. It was amazing. I ordered Rigatoni with Gruyère Mornay. It was also good and a lot of food! I got a dessert(I don’t remember the name) which was flavorful and not too sweet(which I like!). And the price isn’t too expensive even the quality is great. I always have a good time here. It’s nice sitting inside or outside, which has a toasty heater.

In town from SF for work for the week. Met my cousin here tonight and had an amazing time. Me and my gf stopped by here on a visit about a year ago but they now have food. I had the Caesar salad and added chicken, the beet salad and tried the prawns. Each dish was really delicious, flavorful and played very well. The food is also priced really well so you can try a few things! Gonna try and take my boss here for their lunch menu this week if time allows!

Maggie is very nice and friendly. She does it all by herself. She has plans for expansion but the wine is super expensive and limited selection. The high point is Bedford, the border collie. Otherwise, there are many better wine bars in PDX at a better value. I really wanted to like this place but disappointing for the price.

Exquisitely cute little wine bar moments from the rivers edge in downtown Portland. I really only came to use the bathroom and ended up staying all evening, eating my way through the menu, enjoying the music and the company of a very friendly border Collie!

I was psyched to see a wine bar on the Portland waterfront, but was ultimately underwhelmed by this spot. My visit was a bit… awkward. The bar was pretty empty when we came in for a happy hour with only one party in the main room. We decided to sit in the adjoining room, which offered such sparse seating options that I questioned whether the room was meant to be sat in at all. It was empty and impersonal, and we quickly moved back to the main room. While the main room offered improved atmosphere, it didn’t live up to its potential. So much of a wine bar is about atmosphere; you want to kick back and relax with a glass of wine in a cool spot. And this spot should have been cool! Situated in what appears to be a vintage warehouse of sorts, the exposed bricks and old-time vibe could lend itself to something really special. Carmella’s, as currently decorated, falls short. That took something away from the experience. The wine selection was pretty good. I enjoyed my selection well-enough, though the wine that was recommended to me was not at all what I described as wanting. My boyfriend’s choice was solid. We ordered olives to go along with the wine, and while I love olives and I love(triple-love, really) garlic, these garlicky olives will completely overwhelm anything but the heaviest red. As we ordered these olives alongside the wine, we really should have been tipped off to this. The omnipotence of the garlic olives rendered our wine practically tasteless. And while I had some obvious disappointments, I really enjoyed the woman running the show. She was sweet, personable, and fun to be around. Unfortunately, I don’t think Carmella’s can currently compete with some of the other wine bars Portland offers. But I wish Carmella’s all the best; there is so much potential there.

The cutest little wine bar! The owner brings her dog and lets him run around it play. It made our entire night! Plus wine… need I say more?

Excellent glass pour wines in a versatile and comfortable surrounding. We didn’t delve into the bottle list this time, but they have an incredible selection of old and new world. The sunset is visible from the bar or the heated patio. I long for the next rainy dark night so I can sip by their wood burning fireplace and enjoy fireside s’mores($ 8). Great for thirsty groups.

The place is well decorated, the owner Maggie is fun, and overall the wine is great! Would recommend highly. We got the spinach dip — it is non-traditional and super yummy.

Romantic place to have a great glass of wine. The very sweet lady that works here is a perfect fit. Knowledgeable, engaging and just straight up cool. What a great new wine bar, definitely one of the most romantic and thought out places in Portland. Can’t wait to go back.

I met up with my friends here for a post-fashion show party. The only downside was that they did not serve liquor, which my friend(who I rode with) will only drink. Luckily for me, they served beer, because I’d had enough wine lately and wanted to switch it up. The place is in a discreet area of town, back behind the warehouse on Water Avenue. It looks small from the front, but is actually very spacious and nice inside. There is also lots of room to mingle. The bricked room with a fireplace is also a lovely space to hold a private event for work, a birthday party or even a small wedding reception. They also have an outdoor porch area for taking your wine out on a sunny day. A beer will cost you $ 5, but they’re those fancy imported beers that run up to 8% alcohol and come in those very large wine glasses. 2 of those and I was feeling it today. I saw some gals eating a delicious plate of breads and cheese that they pared with wine. Next time, I will come hungry, because it looked delicious. Parking is free in that part of town which is always a huge plus. Really, there isn’t a reason not to try this place, unless you are my liquor-only friend. lol

Maggie is awesome. Great little space with black and white silent films in the background.
