Nice place and employees, Carly gets a gold star for bringing the positive energy every time and Stacy makes sure everything runs smooth. Great vibes, my favorite of the elephants locations.

My review concerns the Chop Chop Salad in particular. This salad has lettuce, olives, a very small amount of smoked turkey, salami, tomatoes, green onions, cheese and a vinaigrette. Instead of lettuce leaves, the entire salad consists of lettuce ends. There are barely any lettuce leaves in this salad. The leaf ends are the parts that are tossed into the compost bin, yet the entire salad is made of lettuce leaf ends. The salami they include in the salad is rancid and it tastes horrible. The cheese doesn’t have any taste. Charging $ 8 per salad for a handful of lettuce leaf ends, rancid salami and tasteless processed cheese is a bit much.

This location is actually the smaller Flying Elephants Delicatessen. It is located on South Waterfront in the OHSU Collaborative Life Science Building. The building is right next to the Tilikum Bridge and popular«Orange Line». Lots of in and out to go customers here because there is not much seating inside. There is however some seating in the common area of the CLSB building and in the good weather months there are tables and chairs outside which is nice. There are plenty of drink choices here and quick grab and go food items such as sandwiches, soups, salads and goodies to choose from. They serve Stumptown coffee and there are lots of different hot and cold coffee drinks on the menu. I really like the breakfast sandwiches here and its nice to be able to grab quality quick food items. Parking is minimal here and its best to walk, bike here or ride the orange line. 2015-135

Not much more than you’re standard hospital cafeteria-style food. Pre-cooked entres are fast but tend to be overly salty and old. While it still costs the same, this location does not have nearly the quality or atmosphere of other Elephants locations. Due to its proximity to OHSU, this place gets busy at lunch making for a stressful, cramped environment. I would treat this Elephants like a fast-food joint, and I wouldn’t eat here unless you’re hungry, desperate, and close by.

I eat here when I’m hungry and on the go, usually when my daughter is upstairs for a dentist appt. I ordered a breakfast sandwich this morning. When I got upstairs to eat it(mind you only 10 mins later), I discovered it was only«half» a breakfast sandwich, and the bread was so rock hard that I couldn’t even eat it. I picked off off what few eggs there were. Disappointed. at least at Starbucks next door you get consistency every time.

A great deli merges with beautiful scenery at this Flying Elephants Delicatessen. As usual, some prices could be better, but other items are priced spectacularly well. There are plenty of beverages, deserts, snacks, soups and sandwiches to chose from. It is a medium size store just off the Tilikum Crossing. I went here in the middle of a crossing celebration. Here, I got Apple Soda for $ 1.75 and a Russian Tea Cookie for just 50 cents. The staff were both friendly and efficient. Water is free, while utensils and condiments are plenty. The cookie was delicious, of no surprise to me. They even handled the large crowd with skill. Try going to the Elephant’s Delicatessen at South Waterfront.

Walk by fresh prepared foods(Yum)! Step up to the counter and order. This morning the sausage, egg and Swiss cheese frittata – was egg-cellent! Along with the«best» Stumptown coffee. Lots of choices to pick and build your own breakfast, lunch or dinner – consistent with other Elephants Deli’s! The deli is located in the space-age looking Collaborative Life Sciences building(PSU /OHSU). Make sure to tour the building when you drop in for Elephant grub! Indoor /outdoor seating. Views of the Tilikum Crossing and Marquam bridge, skyscrapers, tower cranes building more skyscrapers and the aerial tram. This spot will be a real«hub-bub» bustling spot with students, medical professionals, residents, tourists, city dwellers, a few geeks and lots of Unilocalers when the MAX /streetcar /bike /pedestrian only Tilikum bridge opens in September. Get ready! For now, I enjoyed the peace and quiet of morning, taking a break from a bike ride up and down the river, gazing out the wall of Deli windows with Waterfront views! Bring on the«hub-bub!»

I love this place and would prefer to just buy take out from them rather than cook. Chicken enchilada, meatloaf, and the soups are my go-to selections. One thing that I would like is a better selection of desserts.

It’s urban. It’s chic. It’s fun. But the food falls below my expectation. The cheese pizza tastes like all other pizzas I’ve ever had. The curry lentil soup lacked flavor and rather bland. The fish tacos were alright. I added some of their hot sauce to give it a kick, but still lacked flavors. Oh well, just another generic meal. But the latte was great. Will I return? Probably if I’m in the neighborhood, but I am not eager to return anytime soon

I am just going to pick this one, because we get Sack Lunches delivered, and I am not going to ask the non-profit(where I volunteer) where they get our lunches, from. I wanted: Chicken Caesar. Grilled chicken, hardboiled egg, romaine, radicchio, parmesan, scallions & croutons with our Caesar dressing It is a lot more like Cobb Salad w/out the bacon. I must be picky, but a normal Caesar with Chicken don’t have A LOT in them, and I will eat all of my salad. This is the 1st time, I pushed my Caesar away! Maybe, I’ll just have fresh fruits, will have to try that next time! Next: the only chips they have are KETTLECHIPS. I’m old! I used to eat corn nuts everyday, 20 years ago! But no more! After breaking a tooth,(recently). .. .. even when I’m not eating anymore corn nuts or un-popped popcorn,(lesson learned), KETTLECHIPS is not the way to enjoy my lunch! Sure, I can always save it & give it to my husband, right? He’ll eat anything! But I want my chips with my lunch, dang it! The next day, I ordered the Albacore Tuna Salad DF Albacore tuna, mayo, tomato, pickles & leaf lettuce on our multigrain bread. Good points for the sandwiches and the elephant-shaped cookies! We had a conversation with my colleagues where the elephant symbol started, and the only clue I could come up, was the owners probably came from India, since India’s other symbols is an elephant.(I couldn’t find it anywhere in their website, does anyone KNOW?) Sajid Khan, a very handsome actor from India in the 60’s, had a TV show called MAYA, rode an elephant. First thought that comes to mind. LOL

I don’t know how my measly student budget is going to last me the year being in such close proximity to one of my favorite Portland establishments. This location is probably the smallest offshoot of the Elephants franchise that I’ve seen, but it will definitely serve. They have your standard pre-prepared sandwiches and salads and a hot food bar where I can spend $ 5 on a sliver of a breakfast frittata, feel kind of bad about it, and then do it all over again the next day.
