Chase Bank

There really isn’t enough time or space to write how much I hate this bank. But I’ve found that in Portland all the banks seem to suck so I’ve stopped changing banks. Yet another Mickey Mouse Operation.
One of many problems I’ve had is getting no help here and then told to call the 800 number which literally one time I was on the phone almost three hours being transferred back and forth between the folks at chase debit and chase credit card, and after that long wait no one was able to help me.

Like most banks, large and impersonal. The employees are always nice though, and prompt.

They’ve pushed me over the edge. Not that it wasn’t time to review Chase for their wrongdoings before, but for some reason 64″ bullet proof glass (or 4″ or whatever) pushed me over the edge. I understand the need for safety, but I also understand the need for customer service (something they’ve lacked for a very long time). When you have to yell at the teller (and I wasn’t the only one) because they can’t hear you through it — mind you, there was no thought put in to how you’re actually going to talk to each other when they installed this sometime over the last couple weeks — it makes it a bit difficult to get your banking done.
When Chase had Washington Mutual land in their laps, I was actually happy. I thought Washington Mutual didn’t know how to run their banks; they focused on being pals rather than managing your money, they focused on customer service even though they didn’t have any idea how to do that either. I figured Chase would act like a real bank and I was ecstatic when they took away those stupid teller islands and I thought it would be great to have more ATMs nationwide. I quickly was proven wrong and shown how a real bank does (or doesn’t do) customer service. I changed to First Tech and have been happy there ever since. However, I’m still cursed with having to go to this Chase branch twice a week to do business banking. Aside from a couple people, the tellers there are now rude. The manager is slimy. The service is just plain awful.
They still get a two star because the actual process of having a checking account with Chase seems to function pretty well. It doesn’t make up for their customer service any more than that, though.

My review is mostly about this branch’s notaries. I’ve had a few things signed by their notary Peter, and each time he treated me as if I were a mentally retarded rat covered in feces. On the other hand, Danielle Gende, also a notary there, is quite pleasant. Try for Danielle; avoid Peter.
