Pretty damn good. It’s not complicated. It’s just yummy chicken. Wants some yummy chicken? Come over to chicken and guns! Yeah also the potatoes are amazing! I love the potatoes. There’s a toasty fire place right in front of the food cart, so you can stay nice and warm. They just fixed up cartopia so now it’s got a fully covered seating area in the middle. The chicken is a little hard to eat. You’ve got to pick it apart to find the meat. Which is to be expected when eating animals. But just FYI you may need to use your hands.

Freaking delicious. I pay an arm and a leg to get it delivered to SW Portland but it’s worth every penny. The chimichuri sauce is amazing and ugh the salad, can’t even put into words how much I LOVE their salad. Highly recommend

Terrific! The cart is super cool — very rustic. It’s simple menu, and the food is amazing. Three of us split a whole chicken, salad, potatoes and an order of wings. If they have wings(I think only on the weekends) I HIGHLY recommend them. They’re not buffalo-style, but the flavor is terrific, they were perfectly cooked, and I would have eaten a dozen if they were in front of me. The chicken itself was incredibly moist and flavorful. Loved the salad and potatoes also. The three of us ate everything. Great experience.

The menu is straightforward giving you three options of quarter, half, and whole for the chicken with your choice of original, or lite. Ordered the«quarter» for $ 9 and opted for«original», potatoes that are baked then fried(if you’re not feeling the potatoes there’s a «lite» option of salad). POTATOES. BAKED. FRIED. I’m sold, take my money! The potatoes are perfectly crisp and the chicken is very moist. Aji sauce is drizzled over the chicken and potatoes giving a light cilantro/pepper taste that melds with the flavors of the mesquite roasted chicken and lemon sea salt potatoes. If you find yourself wanting an extra side of sauce, it will cost you an additional 50¢(worth it, trust me). Portion wise, the quarter is a fairly decent amount of food for 2 people.

You know a place is good when you get home later and your shirt smells a little like wood smoke! This is the real deal. Best rotisserie chicken I’ve had in a long while, miles above those Pollo a la Brasa guys in Gresham, which is the closest wood-fired bird comparison that comes to mind. Also the potatoes and green sauce are legit in their own right. This place hit the spot, will be returning.

I wasn’t that hungry when I ordered, but if I was I woud’ve loved it. The sauce is amazing. Honestly, the original was too heavy for me. Lite sounds like a good option. Nice area too. But …not the BEST chicken I’ve ever had.(almost there)

Hmmmm! Hello chicken!!! And fireplace! I had dinner down the street last night but decided to come check this place out anyway! So glad I did! It’s in the food truck area with plenty of outdoor settings. Well it was freezing last night but still. Fireplace was a nice touch. What’s good? The bird! It’s all about the bird! You can get a quarter, half, whole and it few different ways! Original, lite and so on. I got the original!!! The bird was cooked to perfection! The green sauce was spicy and garlicky! And those crispy crunch little potatoes! Hmmmmm! I usually don’t care for potatoes or eat them but this was rather delicious. Sat and chowed some down next to a firepit in the freezing cold. It was delishhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Hmmmm. And the chicken was quite tender and juicy! Wish it wasn’t freezing cold! And wish I didn’t have dinner before this. But overall, I enjoyed it very much. I also spent as much as I did for two dishes at a restaurant down the block but this was so much better and worthwhile. Next time, I’m getting the sauce on the side though. Or try the lite version. Hmmm hmmm gooood!

I rate this place a 3.65 Located in the late night food pod on Hawthorne, Chicken and Guns is a behemoth of a cart. A shocking site for a food cart. The workers are nice and happy to answer questions. The food is good. The chimichurri and aioli were great, especially pared with the potatoes. The chicken was good but a little dry for my tastes. Well seasoned, but priced a bit high. Location is good if you’re in the area, but parking can be difficult. It’s nice that the pod has a fire pit and seating now. Would visit on occasion.

I thought this chicken was amazing!!! Their house potatoes, also sooooooo incredibly delicious. If potatoes weren’t so fattening, I could eat these all day everyday! My only downside to the minus one star is that I needed more green sauce!!! That just put everything together and I would’ve loved to have more of it!

Was super impressed by the flavor and portions of this great cart. The food was awesome, and more expensive than the other carts in the area.

Our first Portland foot stand/cart experience! Chicken and Guns is located outdoors in a little area with other food stands + big picnic tables and firepits if you wanna stay and eat(pretty much right across from Lardo). I was hesitant to try this place because I feel like chicken is usually dry when I order it, and it just didn’t seem that great. Boy was i WRONG! I got the quarter chicken with potatoes and omg. Everything was so so good! Quarter chicken was incredibly moist and grilled perfectly. It comes with chimichurri sauce drizzled all over the chicken and potatoes + a tomato salsa. Flavor is not lacking here The potatoes are CRISPY and perfectly cooked. I could eat these potatoes for dayz Comes with a good amount of both and will keep you satisfied and full! I thought it was a good portion if you come hungry. Can’t wait to try all the other food carts in this nook, but I will definitely be back for you, Chicken and Guns!

I have tried many food carts and have never been really impressed but Chicken and Guns is an exception! I think it is one of the best food carts that are out there. I tried their food on a cold rainy day. It was just perfect! Their chicken is soft and juicy and the green chutney on top goes really well with it. I also liked the smoky smell around the food cart which really elevates your appetite while you wait for the food. Oh and the potatoes are not to be sidelined. they give a tough competition to the chicken. Not to mention they also have one of the better looking carts around. Now comes the question why I didn’t give a 5 star after all this chanting! That’s because I came to this cart on two separate occasions and had two different people each time. The guy first time did a much better job than the one the second time. The chicken went from A+ to A according to me.

If you visit Portland, this place is a MUST! Their chicken and potatoes are one of the best I’ve had in my whole life. The chicken and potatoes are seasoned to near-perfection. Potatoes are crispy(not burnt) on the outside and creamy on the inside, the chicken is juicy, tender and(add all adjectives that positively describe chicken). Finally, the Aji sauce adds the perfect amount of kick to the meal. If I lived nearby, and didn’t really care about my health, I would eat here almost every day. Price is fair and service is great.

This place is delicious! Like the guy next to me said. «This place is restaurant quality on wheels» the chicken was cooked and seasoned very well, paired with crispy potatoes and I if course added then sunny side egg cuz that always makes it better ;). The aji sauce on top was the perfect touch. Stellar entrée. I love Cartopia on Hawthorne.

First time today. The chicken is something special and not just average. The $ 9 quarter size — which includes one of the better potato side dishes around — was just right for me. It’s tempting to compare this to Pollo Norte, but each shines in their own way. I do wish Guns included a third offering to compliment the chicken and potatoes, e.g. bread, tortilla(I know it’s not a Mexican venue), some kinda vegetable, etc. Moreover, offer some sort of «interesting» drink — besides pop and water — to go with the great food. The owner(?) was very nice, the bar-style seating is great. Parking can be tricky in this area, but we usually find something.

Looks beautiful, in a very well maintained, clean pod. Parking is an issue. No line this visit. It was hot as hell that day, so maybe others had the wherewithal not to eat a salt bomb in the heat. Whatever, I can’t control my cravings. Will need to try this spot again; the potatoes and the sauce are well documented here on Unilocal and worth every keystroke. Fantastic. My chicken was pretty dry, though. I could eat chicken all the time, not this though. Good flavor, dry beyond the point of finishing. Definitely worth another shot, though.

Easily the best-looking food cart with an eating bar in Cartopia! Do they serve the best-tasting Oak Fired Latin Chicken in PDX? Hellz yeah! I came here for lunch with 2 friends. We’ve ordered each a quarter chicken, me with the salad + egg(extra protein) and them with the potatoes. The amount of chicken was just perfect, but if you’re used to bigger portions, grab the half chicken. The meat was perfectly juicy and had a subtle savor of slight smoke which i really enjoy. The chimichurri sauce on my salad just nailed it, one word to describe: FRESH. So much flavor. Bottle the marinade and I’ll definitely buy. I tried my friends’ crispy potatoes and boy are they crispy. Just yum! I’ll have those next time. Overall another great addition to Cartopia: Props to Dustin Knox & Co.

Chicken is good. Crispy potatoes are good. was here on a sunny Saturday afternoon and didn’t had to wait a terrible long time for food which is great. Cartopia is a great place to hang out on a Saturday afternoon. Menu was simple and didn’t had to take too long to decide. Chicken size. Quarter 9 half 16 whole 24. Original with crispy potatoes which tasted amazing and lite with salad. 10 mins food served :) go get it!

Delightful flavors, juicy chicken and some of the most fantastic potatoes I’ve had. The Aji sauce ties it all together very well. tastes like a peruvian version of tandoori chicken with cilantro chutney. The $ 9 quarter portion is huge and more than sufficient even if you’re really hungry as I was. My only complaint/feedback: don’t put the dish on the thin paper, the aji sauce makes it all soggy and it tears apart, and you don’t really want to be eating the paper with your meal! Apart from that. legit good food.

So many times I have had my expectations raised by reviews from multiple sources, only to be dashed by reality when the actual experience falls short of the advanced Hype, Chicken and Guns met all my expectations. First off the Chicken is flat out delicious, with just the right amount of smoky flavor, the salad they serve with it was right on the money and impeccably fresh, and the Potatoes, OMFG, THEPOTATOESAREAWESOME!!! Sorry for yelling, I got carried away, really they are quite good, they take baked potatoes, cut them into chunks, season them, fry them until crispy, then drizzle them with this wickedly delicious sauce, they are salty, tangy, and tasty. I’m definitely going back!
