If you’re having any car overheating issues, don’t even bother going any place else in Portland. This is without a doubt the best shop in town. The staff is friendly, professional, extremely knowledgable and they still manage to be affordable and readily available.
We were visiting Portland while on a road trip from Minnesota when our car overheated. We realized the car was leaking coolant, but beyond that couldn’t diagnose the problem. We had one mechanic look at it who said it might be a bad head gasket — trying to hope for the least expensive scenario, we went to a few different shops to get a diagnosis. However, after calling 5 different places on a Monday there wasn’t a single one that was even willing to take a look at it until Wednesday. We had plans to leave Portland the next morning so we were in a troublesome situation.
Fortunately, we stumbled across City Radiator and gave them a call. Right off the bat, I got a solid impression. I told them our trouble and they said to bring it over so they can take a look. We called AAA and had the car towed over. Within a minute of bringing the car in, they took a look at it and figured out exactly what the problem was with a simple pressure test. It turned out to just be a broken tube they had said. We left the car there while they waited for the part they had to order, and stopped for lunch at Rogue Brewing nearby.
After a couple hours (mostly spent on waiting for the part to come) we came by to pick up the car and it was as good as new, and parts and labor all in all cost us far less than what we had expected — they were honest with what work was done and I couldn’t thank them enough for taking our car in when they were already fully booked to help us out with our trouble. We managed to make it back home 1500 miles away without a hitch. Thank you City Radiator! You guys are great.

I highly recommend City Radiator! I called all around town for the best deal and these guys beat their competitors by a huge margin. They were also very friendly and easy to work with. Next time I need a radiator this will be my first stop.
