I would say that 3 out of 4 plays at CoHo are outstanding. That 4th one is not horrible, it’s just that we’re so spoiled that sometimes when one does not speak to us we’re shocked. This is an intimate theater. We love that every seat in the house is a close seat.

The theater is intimate, with very tight seating throughout. This was not an issue when I went to a showing of Crooked, but it was always in the back of my mind that someone might spill some wine on me since it can feel like people are perched on your shoulder.
Having said that… there is not a bad seat in the house. Your performance will be up-​close and personal regardless of where you sit.
The price is quite fair for the amount of entertainment provided. If you are a theater buff I would certainly check it out.

Teeny tiny theater with about 50 – 60 seats (3 rows, «U» configuration). Careful not to get spittled by an excited actor. I can see myself doing my monologues here.
$ 10+$ 1.50 transaction fee for the 90 minute work-​in-​progress I saw. Not really an alternative to a major production but a nice change of pace from a movie for your passive entertainment or a spur to conversation before a nearby dinner in ABC.

Just saw Body Awareness here. What a fantastic production! Great set, comfortable theater seating with a small, intimate vibe. All tickets are general admission, so I recommend arriving early so you can get in line and choose the seat you prefer (though all have great views, some have more leg room or double arms rests… Depends on your preference).
I am knocking one star for the lack of air circulation in the theater. It was warm and almost balmily stuffy, and there were at least a dozen people fanning themselves with their playbills.

I saw one production here and I am ready for another! Small intimate theater, sit where you like. No stress no fuss, parking in that area was not difficult to find. I do like the cozy feel of smaller theaters, where you can really be up close and personal. You can get that at the Shnitzer by sitting up front… for 3 figures though. We saw Reasons to be Pretty, great acting for sure, entertaining from beginning to the end. Casey was rather easy on the eyes too :) The actors were very personable after the show. I can’t think of any negatives at all, well, maybe just that there is no food being sold other than these small cookies that tasted like grandmas, no, not my grandma, she knew how to bake, but the packaged grandmas ones. I thought they were free actually, so when they said $ 2, with my mouth full I had to find my peeps to help out lol, shute, I charge a stick of gum, I have no cash, what is cash? Anyway, short story long, just eat before you go, simple. I have their pamphlet here and appears there are some interesting productions coming up! Will update this when I see another play.

I’m a huge theater fan and the Coho fills my need for quirky little plays that don’t make my wallet sob.

Vancouver, WA
The world premier of «PS, I Love Your Daughter», a hilarious comedy by new Portland playwright Gary Corbin, tells the story of a middle-​aged man who falls for his best friend’s 30-​year-​old daughter.
Four local actors bring this play to life: Brandon Zupancic, who played the villainous lead in «Angel Street,» plays the lead role. Veteran Portland actor Michael Biesanz, most recently starring in Public Playhouse’s «Heroes» at the Coho, plays Paul. Bonnie Auguston («Fiddler on the Roof», upcoming) plays the title role, and Trevor Brady plays the dorky, hapless Derek. Erin Thomas of Coho’s «24 Hour Plays» directs.
The show opens June 17 at 8 PM, runs three nights and closes with a matinée on Father’s Day, June 20, 2010 at 2 PM.

The company gets some good acts which make a great year round season. I highly recommend going to any of their shows.

A play written by Heather Raffo, American and Iraqi; Heather’s father was born in Iraq. Heather expressed voices of women who could not speak the horrific truth.
Actress, Luisa Sermol gave a stellar performance! Excerpts from voices of Iraqi women. Lost lives, spirits died while listening to earth shattering bombs when phone lines cut to their families while worlds separated them from knowing life or death. Souls abandoned women while watching their loved ones tortured. Women’s bodies were used for pleasures of those in political control. People treated savagely. This play will leave a footprint on your life. Show times: Thu.-Sat. 8pm, sun. 2pm until June 14, 2008.
