Columbia Transmission

These guys got my transmission rebuilt and they were quick, courteous and professional. They even have me a ride to work! They didn’t give me much info about the work the preformed though.

I was referred here by a friend. My car seemed to be acting up and running at higher RPMs on the freeway than I thought was normal. I wasn’t sure if anything was really wrong but my buddy told me I should visit Bob at Columbia Transmission. I took it in and Bob scanned it, took it for a drive around the block and check the fluid level. He determined there was actually too much fluid in the transmission from the last company I had it serviced at and removed some for me. Ultimately he said the car was running great and seemed like nothing was wrong with the transmission. He did all this and did not charge me. You can bet I am referring Bob to anyone I know with transmission issues and will be taking my vehicle here for service and any future repairs I need. Excellent experience and service. Thanks Bob!

I brought my car in because I was having stalling issues. They couldn’t find anything with the transmission directly but let me know that is was probably the computer and referred me to someone who can help with that. They didn’t charge me a dime even though they had spent time test driving it in search of the problem. Very nice people, always answered my calls.

I just love this place. They fixed my car and gave me excellent service at a reasonable price.

So many nice reviews! Called twice and left messages about setting up appointment to check transmission. Why won’t anyone call back? It’s spring break– could be on vacation? Will keep trying though.

Took my boat-​hauler into Bob & company in 2011 to service all the drivetrain fluids, flush & service transmission, install oversized transmission cooler, etc. While it was with him, Bob even ran the truck around the corner to a radiator shop for the cooling system flush I wanted. Bob’s work was great and the new cooler significantly lowered the tranny’s temperture while towing a load. Kudos for that visit.
Fast forward 18 months… I noticed some transmission fluid leaking. Uh oh. Bob got me in promptly, fixed the minor problem, and had the truck back to me same day. Great folks, great service. Highly recomended!

It’s hard to say about auto repair shops, but this place seems to shine… the owner, Bob, is a stand-​up guy. After paying him to put the second new tranny in my car in four years (ugh), and after having the omigosh it’s slipping again moment some four months after the year-​long warranty on it expired, we took it in.
He said he’d stand behind his work even past the year expiration date, though fortunately it was just low on fluid. He checked, re-​filled, and found and fixed the leak, all free of charge.
Can’t say enough good things about workmanship, honesty, and a job well done. Good prices, too.

FIVE STARS!!! ON TIME and UNDER BUDGET!!! I would recommend this shop to everyone with a transmission issue in Portland! They were super nice to deal with, communicated very well and best of all did it all on time. Hard to find a shop like this anymore!

Fast and friendly.

I knew what was wrong with my car. It’s a known issue with my car, I know a little about cars, and pair that with google and I am an educated consumer. There also was a service bulletin extending my warranty to… drumroll please… last year.
The problem had been building for a few months and I have that, «It’s not that bad» kind of attitude. Until I was driving a somewhat steep and windy road home from work and only 2^nd gear will work… Shit!
I called a mechanic that didn’t work on transmissions that recommended this place. Before I had it towed I tried to work with the dealership to no avail.
I called and the man that answered the phone was genuinely nice and helpful, in a way a doctor has a bed side manner. Comforting, letting you know you are in good hands.
The car got towed in and I got a call telling me it was there, 4 hours later I got a phone quote, over 1500 less than the dealer.
My car was done in like 3 days, and by done I mean completely rebuilt transmission complete with a one year warranty! My car drives better than ever, and I am confident in the quality of the repairs.
I can’t give a business 5 stars that I involuntarily give thousands of dollars to, but I can give them four and highly recommend them to anyone that needs transmission help.

I called to set up an appointment for the boyfriend’s truck — the dude answering the phone: super friendly and helpful. Dropped off the truck when our appointment was scheduled, and it was done in the time that they said it would be done. The truck is running great — and the price was fantastic as well! Couldn’t have asked for more… awesome!
