I don’t often write reviews and I’m pretty easy to please. But, I was thoroughly disappointed here. We arrived on a Saturday and they were out of many many beers. Anything I wanted to try was gone. I was ok at that point. So, we continued on. We ordered our food. I ordered the Cali, my friend the ABLT, and my other friend ordered the Mac and Cheese. Shortly after our order, the server came back and informed us that the cook«didn’t get around to making it» after stating that she«thought they would.» I’m not entirely sure what that means, but it seemed a bit ridiculous. At this point I was confused. My friend ordered a regular burger with fries and we moved on. My cola was never refilled. This might not be a real issue, but I was never informed on whether or not they had free refills. The burgers arrived shortly thereafter. My burger did not have avocado, as the menu advertised that the Cali did. So, our server went and got a sad portion of avocado in a ramekin and dropped it off on the table. It was slightly discolored and a very unappetizing shade of green. At this point, I was just hungry. We had just finished a long drive and were famished. I finished by burger. My friend got her hamburger and did not finish it. The meat was bland and not spiced, the fries were inconsistent. One friend had soggy fries, one friend had crunchy fries. I was a little sad that there were no oyster crackers for the clam chowder, but that isn’t really a fair critique. Though, I would suggest ordering some for soups. We got our checks and I decided to pay for my friend who didn’t finish since it was my idea to eat out when we could have stayed in. The server asked why she did not finish and said she would take half off for her burger. I politely thanked her and waited. My friend went to the bathroom that did not work(didn’t flush). We got our receipts and I noticed that we were charged the full portion of my friend’s unfinished burger that we were told would be half off. Listen, if you can’t take half off, I totally understand. But, please let me know before charging me, especially after telling me you could do so. It’s really off-putting to any customer when dealing with transactions to mischarge them. I wish it would have been better, especially with all the good reviews we read beforehand. I hope this was just a bad night for County Cork and not the norm. I used to work in the service industry and have had my share of mistakes. But, this was pretty unbelievable. :/

Upon entering the establishment, i set my hopes high. Boy was I let down. The Waitress approached our table, and began with a rap sheet of what beers they were out of… Ok ill just order water and my friends ordered cola. I ordered the ABLT, my friend got the cali burger, and another tried ordering the Mac and cheese. I say trying because she informs us «oh the chef didnt get around to making mac and cheese» … On a Saturday night and the place was empty. Surely time wasnt a factor in whether they could make the mac and cheese or not. She switched to a regular burger and we moved on. Upon receiving our order, the cali burger came without the avocado, the other burger was bland and tasteless, and the ABLT was alright, but one of the reasons i order it is because it cant be screwed up too bad. My friends never had their colas refilled, my water was refilled once, and the toilet didnt work. My friend didnt finish the burger and the server interrogated my friend over why. Do you need to know why?! Its probably because it sucked(hint. It did). To be constructive, the restaurant manager or whoever takes care of orders needs to make sure the bar is stocked with proper amounts of beer for a Saturday night. Put spice on your meat. And please check our drinks so they may be refilled in a timely manner. Oh they also promised to take ½ off then check, then decided later they couldnt do it and charged us full price. The fact this establishment has 4 stars boggles my mind. Guess we came and the worst time.

I met a friend here for beer and dinner on a Sunday night. Having read the reviews, it seemed like we were going to have a decent culinary experience. Despite my belief that I can separate the wheat from the chaff when it comes to Unilocal reviews, I was very wrong with this venue. Nice selection of beer, though virtually no information about them on the menu. My friend asked for a taste of one, and received it. My question was answered promptly. We both enjoyed our beer selections. The problem is the food. I gave the fish and chips a try. The large basket of chips/fries, seemingly hand-cut, were nicely crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. The fish, however, were quite small pieces, though with five of them, the serving was fine. What wasn’t fine was the fact that 1) all five pieces were overcooked, dry and stringy, and 2) the batter, while crisp, was also super greasy. One doesn’t order F&C if one is afraid of oil, but the fish should still be properly drained. Tip for the kitchen: Your frying oil needs to be hotter to cook the outside properly without overcooking the interior; also, hotter oil reduces uptake of grease into the batter. My friend ordered the Shepherd’s Pie. He asked specifically if it came with a lot of gravy, and was told, «Yes, there is a lot of gravy right in the pie.» Awesome! That is, until he got the pie, and found it to be quite dry. Much of my heritage is Irish, and I would be ashamed of that heritage if this food were truly representative of Irish cuisine. Yes, I’m still annoyed as I write this.

Recently moved to the neighborhood but hadn’t made it into this until yesterday, partially because I didn’t think they had much for vegetarians. I was pleasantly surprised to find this wasn’t the case. Options include grilled cheese and both a house made lentil and black bean burger(sides include salad or steak fries among others), ploughman’s platter(large portion of carrots, apples, celery, cheese, egg, pickles, soda bread, and more), and mac and cheese. Kids menu, which they can color, includes peanut butter and jelly with a choice of fries or apples and carrots for a side. There is no play area, but we went when it wasn’t busy and let the kids play in the dart nook. Beer selection and service was good. We’ll be going again for sure.

Lotsa great drinks and super cute interior, good music and their staff is just so nice! Once they treated Us to an amazing creamy bread pudding with caramel, outstandingly! Beet salad is also very tempting, do visit this family friendly pub!

The bangers and mash were pretty darn tasty, the bangers being my favorite part. My boyfriend just stated, «the clam chowder was good». There was live music playing when we went and the beer selection was pretty great. I’d been meaning to go here a long while — I don’t know if I’d come back for the food, but I wouldn’t mind grabbing a beer here again!

I’ve only been here once, but immediately liked it. Great service in spite of how steadily busy it was becoming. Great beer selection. Best onion rings I’ve had in a LOOOONG time.

I’m going to have to come back here and give it another shot. The food was good, live music was all right, service was slow. Seems like it could be a pretty cool place though.

Sometimes the service is patchy and the food is pretty good. Good atmosphere and usually kinda crowded. Nice place for a pint.

I honestly don’t know how people can say that this place is anything above a couple stars. Yeah, it has that pub feel… bunch of wood tables and dart boards, but the food is aboslutely horrendous. Luke warm clam chowder with skin on it from being microwaved and quite honestly, the WORST fish and chips I have ever had. How do you make fried fish so hard? I mentioned to a friend. dude I ate at the county cork yesterday and he cut me off and said«whoa, sorry to hear that, their food is gross» Ummm, yeah

I really like this place! It has that Irish pub charm, and a good selection of tasty food and beers both local and domestic. I had a great Cobb salad and my hubs had the fish and chips. The salad was big and full of tasty Cobb toppings, with quality salad greens. The fish and chips were really good too, not the best in the whole wide world(the fish was a little spongy. Not flakey like we’d like) but we’d eat them again for sure. The tarter sauce and fries were awesome. Great service, atmosphere, food, and portion sizes, all in all a great experience. Oh and they have darts to play while you’re there too. Good stuff.

Ten years ago I worked next door, and frequented The County Cork out of connivence. After I quit that job I drifted away, and haven’t been back. Until last month that is when I was racking my brain trying to think of the best fish and chips I had eaten in Portland. That was when it came to me like a sweetly forgotten dream: THECORK!!! How had I not been back in so many years??? Was it still around? After a quick check on Unilocal I saw that indeed it was still operative. I loaded up my family(that mostly didn’t exist back then) and hauled them down to freemont and 14th. It was like a time warp! Everything was just as I remembered, but slightly BETTER. The burger now comes on a fancy brioche bun and they have a sweet happy hour menu. I love you County Cork!!!

I wish we could go with a half star rating system because I’d give this place 3.5 stars. I wasn’t blown away but it was enjoyable. I’m not a huge fan of the atmosphere in most Irish pubs because they can be a little divey at times. This place is no exception. It’s a dimly lit place with a couple dart boards and it’s conveniently located on 14th and Fremont. I met my cousin and his friend here for a beer before we grabbed a bite to eat since it’s only a few blocks from my place. They have a pretty good tap selection here. I guess they get Pliny The Elder on draft sometimes which is a plus. Make sure to follow their Twitter/Facebook to find out when they tap it. We didn’t eat here but If you’re in the Fremont area near 15th I’d recommend popping in for a drink or two It’s not classy by any means but I heard they have good food. That came from the mouth of one of the bartenders though. I promise my reviews will get more thorough. I’m tired and I think I need a nap.

I was a little disappointed; we can on a Friday night and there was no live music. The bread pudding was really good but other than that the service was just okay, lighting was super dim, music was not on point… just didn’t meet my expectations. Beer selection was good though.

great beer selection. i had an exceptional scotch egg there. roomy, quaint public house. service is good. not dark and dank like some UK oriented pubs. look for nitro taps, imperial pints poured proper. sometimes a kid friendly pub is a bit of a buzz kill with a crying infant.

Cute little place that we visited on a day trip to PDX. I was Jones’ing for some Fish and Chips action… A little disappointed… They looked and tasted like frozen sticks… Pretty sad… I have been to several other Irish Houses and they typically had Smithwicks hand dipped & battered F&C which were far superior. The premade and frozen batter did not retain the malt vinegar that we vigorously splashed upon our glistening sticks of cod… The«spicy» fries were meh, at best… The BLTA and rings were killer though… If I find myself on Fremont again, I might try it again, but it won’t be for the F&C. Oh yeah, the barmaid was quite pleasant and attentive too. Another reason why we would come back…

A nice little restaurant/pub that has decent food, good craft brews on tap, a good looking happy hour menu, and friendly service. I tried the bacon blue cheese burger with onion rings and an Arrogant Bastard Ale. The food quality was above average and tasted good, and the onion rings were decent. I loved the Arrogant Bastard Ale. The waitresses was very nice and the prices were very reasonable. I would definitely come back.

So… let’s get this out of the way… I’ve spent time in Cork… basically running every morning and drinking every afternoon and evening, so here is what’s missing from County Cork to be truly an Irish pub: No stools at the bar — never! Loads of Munster flags(Corks own Rugby team) More photos of Michael Collins Beamish(a great Irish stout seldom seen in the states) But let’s celebrate what this nearly authentic pub restaurant does have: The seating is cramped but ample Great full bar… nice draft election and they do have Murphy’s stout Really super friendly and accommodating staff Dart Boards!!! Decent sampling of traditional Irish«cuisine». Good Murphy’s Stew and Banger n Mash Add in some new American pub faces like grilled cheese and burgers And you rarely need to spend $ 10(or about € 13 to keep it real) I love Ireland the people and the pubs… and I ran the university every morning which literally looked like Hogwarts… when I’m at the CCPH… I’m back… Slante!!!
