We stumbled upon this place for brunch Sunday morning when the wait at a nearby restaurant was 90 minutes and we were hungry… So glad the wait at the other place forced us to look elsewhere! We had the huevos rancheros and the special, which was a blueberry and bacon monte cristo. Both were delicious and did not disappoint! We will definitely be back!

My first time here and it is a Dawg-Gone Cryin’ shame. I guess that is what happens when you keep going to the same predictable spots again and again. On a Friday night, when those predictable spots were overstuffed with feeding frenzied folk, and those waiting to get in on the frenzy, Lompoc was jus sitting there patiently awaiting the arrival of those that had all but given up on their Friday, Thank Goodness The Week Is Over Night Out! Located on Williams Ave, which has growed up quite nicely over the last year or so, Lompoc SideBar, aka Fifth Quadrant, is a nice little spot with great tasting food and some good local brews. Check out my pics for the ingredients of each of the dishes. Each was flavorful and had some heat with ‘em! The 2013 Bourbon Barrel Aged Dark Side Porter was insanely good! Bustling with chocolatey, toffee flavors, I thought to myself, «…my kind of beer». It wasn’t super sweet, it jus kinda hinted at sweetness in an aromatic kinda way. The Lompoc Jumbo Wings were chosen in the Chipotle Wing Sauce style. Talk about Sweet Heat, if I had met the Chef I would’ve told him I was gon tell my Mama on him for burning my mouth up like that! She would’ve been ready to try them too. So, I failed to take a pic of the Street Taco ingredients, so when I say, stop reading this and run on over to try them for your self, ’cause I wouldn’t lie to you, believe me when I say those three l“il rascals have been the most flavorful trio I have ever eaten. The fries weren’t as dirty as this other joint that is known for their fries, but they were an excellent compliment to the heat of the other dishes and the porter. Did I mention pickled carrots and jicama came with the wings? Well, they did. Lompoc’s ambience was nice and calm and our waitress/bartender was pleasant, cordial even. If I had one thing to complain about, it would be that the dart board was close to the entrance and even closer to the self-serve water station. Could be dangerous if someone was a bit tipsy. But hey, this is just an observation, not a complaint So with that, I say thank you Lompoc SideBar, for patiently waiting for those of us that will eventually stray away from the predictableness of our eating habits. Either by luck or by daring, many thanks

Had an excellent work occasion at sidebar! I needed a local, area brewery to host this event and this, amazing, location surpassed all expectations! From Amy who got everything set up and in order to Cody the wonderful bartender… it was wonderful! We did a tour of the brewery with a head brewer and he could not have been more sweet and well-informed! The beer and food was awesome!

I came in on a nice quiet Thursday evening with only about 3 other folks left hanging around in this place just an hour before they closed, and I had the best damn beer I’ve ever tasted. I will definitely come back here when I’m in Portland again, this experimental menu changes weekly so you will always find something new and amazing to try! Also, the bartender was phenomenal, he gave spot on recommendations, not just for beer to try but for me as a visitor to Portland of other things I should see and do while in town and I did it all and it was amazing!

Great place to stop by for a beer, to watch whatever game is on(clearly I don’t pay attention) or get some«upscale bar food.» Menu read items with hummus, flat breads with BBQ jalapeños which the server warned me was«seriously spicy.» A couple near me got two burgers that looked AMAZING, and of course the typical steak fries were to die for(it’s quite impossible for me not to order fries wherever I go). This was our second stop of the night so I wasn’t THAT hungry, so I shared a flat bread(and it was so good I almost wished I didn’t). In addition to typical cheese and red sauce it was topped with yellow sweet squash(game changer) and sprinkled with balsamic vinaigrette-so tasty. The atmosphere is cozy but not cramped-lots of tables for self seating, as well as booths lined on the back wall and even a fireplace with leather couches in the corner. $ 2.50 a pint on Tuesdays is a steal-and their beer selection is extensive. You’ll find me here on another Tuesday evening soon for sure.

I absolutely love this place! No cover, affordable drinks and food truck in the back patio for late night munchies. They actually play good old school hip-hop and other genres as well. It’s a casual bar where you can jam out or chill with friends. I hope they never close!

Relax… you are in the trust tree! So I get to No Po, which i always a challenge since I hardly have a reason to go up there, but it was guys night and they picked here. Well, here, meaning the adjacent 5th Quadrant, the main Lompoc establishment around the corner. It was packed to the ceiling with couples and kids and loud as could be on a Friday night with not a table in sight. So, we hiked around the way and saw they had their Sidebar tasting room and it was empty. Food and drinks were great. I had the hummus plate, one of my go to foods. Brilliant selection of warm pita, fresh creamy hummus, Greek olives, marinated artichokes, tomatoes, cucumbers, and all made with care. Beers are okay. I prefer a lot of other micro brews around town, but that’s just my preference. The IPA Lompoc does changes frequently, and most are pretty spot on. I’d like to see something more in the Northwest style with lots of citrus, but to each their own. Atmosphere is sweet, and certainly the best of any Lompoc pub I’ve been to. Old barrels and photos line the walls and they have a lovely fireplace to set a quiet mood. Service here was very good. They were super slow until we came in, so employees hanging around out front smoking. Not my favorite thing, and probably where it lost a star from me, just because it doesn’t look very nice, or smell nice when you’re walking in. It didn’t detract from our evening however. Really great place and I certainly recommend going. Tip from a Unilocaler… head to The Sidebar! They have the same menu and drinks as 5th Quadrant. So if you want a more quiet atmosphere for catching up with buddies, or a great place to take a date, The Sidebar in No Po is your first and last stop!

Love this place for a relaxed drink. The beers are always delightful and often outside the box. We always seem to have the same bartender, Cody, and he’s awesome. The $ 5 happy hour is great, too. Bonus points because they have a fireplace, open up the bar to the outdoors in the summer, and nice selection of board games.

Stopped in on a Sunday evening. Was a nice quiet experience, what with the leather sofas by the opened overhead door. Enjoyed our pints and the bbq chicken flatbread was to the liking of the then present company. Would be back for another quiet Sunday pint.

I’ve lived down the street from here since September but never came in. We wandered in because tin bucket was too far for our lazy asses. The Chubby wannabe hipster with beard and glasses(CWHBG for short) was working… uh oh. My boo and I were originally going to grab bottles to go and the CWHBG asked us if we were looking for anything specific. I have apps on apps so I told him I was trying to find certain beers I already had based on my untappd ratings. He showed me where they were and introduced me to others I might like. We decided to stay and get a few pints rather than take bottles home, because he seemed fun. We sat at the bar and I ordered a few tasters and my bf ordered a pint. He checked on us often and asked us about our plans for the night. He discussed Netflix and movies with us and he didn’t even give us any spoilers. I don’t know if this is a different CWHBG but I’m pretty sure an asshole would’ve spoiled all the shows, right? We live a block away and have decided this is our new jam. Great experience. Even debating giving 5th quadrant another chance.

Tall Guy. Cody. The ONLY reason I’d go to to Sidebar. He’s awesome, overall nice guy, super knowledgeable about whatever, and a kick in the pants. Oh, I hear their beer and food is pretty awesome. There’s another reason to go.

This review is a follow-up to what reviewer CS Y. posted on 11/24/2014. Before I begin, I would like to say that I do enjoy Lompoc in general, so it sucks to write a bad review. This review is based on service, rather than the product. I think it was Saturday, December 13th. A friend and I were walking down Williams Ave. looking for a new place to go for a drink. We noticed Sidebar, and opened the door. A person who matches the description CS Y. provided in their review on 11/24/2014(a big guy with a beard and glasses) immediately approached us. He loudly exclaimed that the bar was closed for a private party, and said there was a sign on the door. I replied that I had not seen a sign on the door, and was walking out to go find another place. The guy aggressively followed us out, yelling that there was a sign on the door. He looked at the door, realized there was not a sign on it, then pointed out something else on the window next to the door. What I saw was a small piece of paper with the name of the bar in large font at the top, with a paragraph in small font below it. The dialogue from the employee went something like this: «We’re CLOSEDFOR A PRIVATEPARTY!!!» «There’s a SIGN on the DOOR!!!» … «Oh, I guess it’s not on the door, it’s right HERE!!!» He pointed to the piece of paper that was not an apparent«closed for a private party sign.» What bothers me the most is that this person treated us like we had done something wrong, when we had simply not noticed the nondescript sign. Instead of saying something respectful to us, such as: «thanks for being interested in our business, but we are closed tonight, come back another night,» he aggressively yelled at us, and made us feel shocked and angry. I have two bits of advice I’d like to share with this business: 1. when you need to close for a private party and don’t want the public walking in, make a sign that simply reads«closed for private party» in a font larger than what you’d see in a book, newspaper or essay, so that it is easy for people to see; 2. this very rude employee, who was probably the same person as reviewer CS Y. complained about, is ruining your reputation and should not be allowed to work face-to-face with your customers — remove him from service and put him into some other aspect of the company that does not require social skills, or just get rid of him altogether. I would not allow an employee of mine for 1 millisecond treat customers –with money to burn and fingers to type– with such a bad attitude.

My group had a wonderful evening recently at the New Old Lompoc’s Sidebar. They call it a barrel tasting room and bottle shop but we found it more engaging than that. The remodel is awesome. The new windows and interior opens up the ambiance significantly. I’m sure glad they kept Don Younger’s portrait(the spiritual leader of Portland’s craft beer movement) on the wall because he would have been happy with the upgrades. We especially appreciated the knowledgeable service from the staff. Cody, the bartender, knew all the beverages so well that it made the experience not only enjoyable but educational. Thanks Lompoc for bringing this jewel out of the dark.

My husband and I came here a couple of weeks ago after the remodel and are super impressed. They have bench seating and kept the cozy fireplace. We did not eat here that night but the new menu looks great. I want to try the sliders! Cody helped us pick out some tasty beer. I tried a Pinot beer and it was awesome. We watched a Duck game and thoroughly enjoyed ourself. We tried to go back last week but it was closed for a private party. We live nearby so we will be frequenting this place a lot!

I enjoyed both the cocktails I sampled here. One had jalapeño vodka, I think and I don’t remember the other but it was sweeter than the jalapeño. We also split the nachos which were gastonomically enormous, even for two people. Cozy spot with lots of wood and football. The tables are interesting though, it’s either super intimate/cramped or huge Viking tables with four feet of space between benches!

This is the single worst bar experience I have EVER had in Portland. ever. If that doesn’t warn you off enough– consider that I am a native and enjoy checking out bars all around the area. Last week on a particularly cold and yukky night I decided to research bars with fireplaces in the area. I found a local guide which featured this bar in it’s list of top 10 bars with fireplaces and arranged to meet a friend there. Where do I begin with how awful this experience was? The chubby wannabe hipster with the beard and glasses ruined me and my friend’s night as his lameness was so strong that we never were able to shake it for the rest of the night. Before I got there(unbeknownst to me) this particular jerk grilled my friend about my friends age. Now, I am no OLCC expert, but all you need to do is to ASKFORANID to establish age. If the patron refuses then you can kick them out. Instead, apparently, this staffer asked for my friend to state the age and then began lecturing about how he had the right to throw anyone out who even hesitated a moment on stating their age… of course this is totally UNNECESSARY. We live in a CIVILIZATION and we are PATRONS looking to hunker down for food and drink — totally unnecessary! When I walked in I took a seat and asked for a drink reco. The jerk then makes one and I order it. Then he asks my age(LOUDLY) and I respond by saying that I will get my ID out for him and tell him that I don’t really feel comfortable ANNOUNCING my age out loud. Instead he takes this as an opportunity to embarrass me and gets super BELLIGERANT and begins insulting me. He then grabs my ID and says«HEYEVERYONE…» threatening to shout it to the room?! I mean, are we 13 years old here? I asked him to please stop and be respectful but he kept threatening to shout my age!!! I was super embarrassed and was very clearly unhappy but it still didn’t deter him. Finally he realized that he had actual work to do, looked at my ID and walked off. When he returned with my drink he said«Just for the record, I would have pegged you for 10 years younger. You’re actually older than me — but better looking» — again, embarrassing. This waiter insulted both my friend and I and creating such a tense and awkward experience. I was so offended by his total lack of regard and insulting and rude behavior that I will make sure to tell everyone not to go there. Not to say that if it weren’t for him I would have loved the place — there were TV’s on and it felt like a strip mall bar — but I certainly wanted to give it a chance — but have since told people this story and will leave reviews everywhere I can in the hopes that I can prevent anyone else from having such a hideous evening. We ended up leaving as close to exact cash as we had, abandoned our drinks and left. I wish I’d poured mine on the table for him to clean up. I hope that whoever owns/runs this place reads this and at the VERYLEAST takes action against this person. One loser jerk totally wrecked what could have been a good experience. I will NEVER go back and will warn everyone to stay out of that place. There are too many great places in Portland to waste your time on this crap spot.

Good beer + super comfy couches next to a fireplace? Yes.Please. Often there’s beers on tap here that are special release and not on at 5th Q. Its never crowded and the bartenders are friendly and chatty. Bonus: You can order from the full 5th Q menu and tap list.

After being told it would be an almost 2 hour wait for a table at Tasty n Sons, we walked around the block for a place to drink and discovered Sidebar. This place is pretty low key and we were one of 5 people in the bar. Staff was so friendly and knowledgeable and actually let us taste the beers before ordering(which I definitely appreciated). I enjoyed the low key feel of the place because I could unwind and just enjoy myself. I didn’t want to hang out in a place where it was trying too hard to be something. It was perfect for a few great craft brews and chill vibes. Plus prices aren’t too crazy! :)
