Dapper & Wise

Hands down one of my favorite coffee shops of all time! Of course their coffee is great, but their specials really set them apart from other local shops. My favorites are their house made chai (strong notes of ginger and pear, excellent both hot and iced), the honey-​lavender latte, and the hoppy soda. I admit I was skeptical of the hoppy soda until I finally ordered one on a hot day, and now I know what I was missing all this time! The baristas here are warm and welcoming and just all-​around funny, delightful people.
(As many have said, at peak times seating is a challenge here, but D&W has been making improvements on that. Their drinks are so good I don’t care.)

Every time I order no matter what the beverage is, i always find it to be done in the most artful, delicious and beautifully made way. Great staff!

If I could give it 4.8 I would. The -.2 is because of the coffee soda. I loved everything else! Just the coffee soda is supposed to be amazing but it’s ok. Drinkable. I loved the woodblock mocha so much!

The staff were super rad, so friendly, and I really enjoyed this well designed coffee shop.

Their coffee is great. But the seating here is a joke.
I honestly don’t get it. They have the biggest most cumbersome chairs imaginable. So three people can sit in the area of about ten feet. I don’t like working here. You can’t get a good seat.
I do recommend the coffee though.

If you are staying in the division or hawthorn neighborhood you must go here! The honey lavender latte is incredible and the dirty chai latte is outstanding! Perfectly balanced, not to sweet, and a prefect place to start your day! Staff is also very friendly. I will be back every time I come to Portland! Thank you so much!

Super good chai!!! I went on a Tuesday afternoon to study and the place was packed! Really great atmosphere and great setting to study or read in. The downside is the only milk alternative they have is almond milk, so if u are looking for soy or coconut milk this is not the place for u.

Just found this special place and have gone back 6 times since the first time. The shop is a great place to work if you are sick of working at home. It doesn’t get super noisy and the staff picks great tunes. Coffee soda is a strange treat and you ought to try it. The staff seems to really enjoy each others company. The place has an excellent energy.

I’ve never been to this place — but I got a ½lb for my wedding and it’s probably the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had. This is coming from a guy who frequents blue bottle, intelligentsia and stump town. Great work! Ya’ll got the gift of beanery!

After a lunch at Pok Pok, my brand-​new husband and I waddled out of a downpour into the discreet Dapper & Wise – I liked it because the man is dapper and I am wise. The baristas were SO DAMN NICE and excited to tell us all about what to do in merry old twee Portland that we may have liked even mediocre hot beverages.
THE DRINKS ARE DELIGHTFUL. Housemade chai has ruined me for all others. Hubster is worried about how I’ll make it through back home…
All the drinks seemed great. The place is full up on a Wednesday at three, so it’s a local fave as well. Loads of comfy seating with great street views and plenty of parking (keep in mind: three on a Wednesday).

So here’s what I’ve reconsidered since my last review: sure, the sun makes it uncomfortably warm inside the shop, but… We live in Portland. For like 9 months of the year that’s not an issue.
I’ve been spending a bit more time at Dapper & Wise, taking my coffee in-​house, and I’ve grown more comfortable with their seating arrangements. It’s still not (for me) a top-​tier workspace, but the coffee and the baristas and the baked goods are all excellent. Oh, and generally they play good music, so odds are the headphones I am wearing are purely decorative (or used to prevent weird people to talk to me.)
I like you, D&W. We should hang more often.

I’m a bit of a coffee snob. I usually only drink Peets or Dutch Bros (if I have to get it to take away). This coffee is way smoother than Peets!
I really like how they decorated the place. When I’m here, I feel like I’m in a really fancy boutique in Europe or something. The baristas are all very dapper and know a lot about coffee.
I went in the other day and the barista told me the coffee in my Mochas came from Brazil! I was like, «whoa! How do you know that?! Also, what’s Brazil?» She then explained Brazil was a country and coffee was grown there. And I was like, «whoa! Coffee is a plant???»
Anyways, my mind was thoroughly blown. It’s a really great spot to hit up to fuel your adventuring. I usually go here before I go exploring.
If your feeling insignificant and need a good place to snap an Instagram, this is the place. There are great spots to curate your candid moments. I really like how they celebrate beauty. After all, beauty is everywhere.
My only complaint is that they don’t have a drive-​thru.
If your looking for a smooth, bold, premium roast, this is your place.

This coffee place has super good coffee (although, pass on the chai, not very good). I love their almond milk honey lavender latte. Great espresso.
Good coffee is actually very hard to find in Portland. My husband and I have tried several coffee shops in Portland and all have been pretty terrible. I still can’t figure out why people like Stumptown.
If you are having a hard time finding good coffee come to Dapper & Wise. Super Good!!! The staff is sooo incredibly nice. The coffee shop on division is comfortable and beautifully designed.

On our last day in Portland, my friend and I stumbled upon this place after eating a delicious lunch at Pok Pok. I was like, «D & W, what’s that?!» So, we walked in. Super clean and cute shop! I really liked their wall decal, so I had to take a picture of my drink in front of it. The cashier was super friendly! He saw me hold a box and asked if it was from Pok Pok, LOL. I mean, I would’ve offered, but that would’ve been super weird. Anyways, I ordered the 160z (I think) of the coffee soda and my friend ordered the honey lavender latte. We needed some coffee for the drive back, which is like 10 HOURS.
I was kind of skeptical about ordering a coffee soda, but when I took a sip, I thought it was yummy! It kind of reminded me of cream soda. The coffee wasn’t too strong, it was nice and light. I tried my friend’s honey lavender latte. It was pretty good, but we didn’t taste the lavender. I wished it did have a stronger lavender taste though.
Overall, cute shop. It was a good, spontaneous choice to go here right before we hit the road!

Cute shop, lots of interesting drink options. Some overpriced, some more accurate. I got the lavendar honey latte, which they make their own syrup with, and is an Americano verison. It was delicious, but I’m coffee sensitive so I didn’t finish the whole (one shot) thing. They have a good vibe and these cute comfy chairs. The service was good. I’d come back! Ps. they have almond milk for 50 cents extra.

There are so many trendy coffee shops in Portland with modern, simple décor and great coffee. What I like about Dapper & Wise is that it’s not too busy, decent space and plenty of seating. Normally, when I go into my favourite spots, there’s a single person with their laptop at every table so nowhere to sit and enjoy your coffee and I end up taking it to-​go. My friend and I stopped by Dapper & Wise after lunch on a rainy day, the cappuccino was perfection. I love the personal, swanky red chairs that line the long wooden tables. It was a good space to catch up and talk, sometimes coffee shops could get so busy that it’s distracting. Looking forward to trying their other coffee options and sitting there with a good book.

Love this spot. Beautiful wood, leather, flowers and counter. They roast their own coffee. Which is amazing. I had a cup of the Brazil Capim Branco, so nutty and delicious. My wife had their incredible house made chai. Definitely worth giving a try.

I saw this coffee shop written up in eater pdx. Its owned by the founders of Insomina Coffee a friend had been raving about in Hillsboro which I finally tried in Canon Beach.
Its on the beloved new expansion of D-​Street. Complete with minimalistic décor with antler chandeliers, comfy leather reclines and varnished wood table tops. Its small, but a nice environment to work.
The coffee was phenomenal. I had a very strong Americano. The owner was keen and brought it too me also asking me if I’d like some water.
They brew their own coffee and sell it was well. The packaging is graphically appealing.
Here’s to more excellent coffee in Porltandia.
