I’m Romanian and the dishes here are legit and taste like home. One of the best food carts in Portland. Giant portions for the price. If you don’t know what to get, go for the Mici and ask for cole slaw or potato salad instead of fries, so you don’t go into a coma.

Such a great spot! The woman who started the cart is from Romania and will gladly share details about her menu items and their origins. We got mici, which was moist and packed with flavor. We had to wait about 10 minutes for our food to be ready, but there are chairs nearby. You could also wander around and grab a coffee if you so desire. But if you’re nearby, she might give you sample! She had some leftover schnitzel that she gave us because we were sitting outside. I’d definitely go back!

We were so impressed by the taste of the food we tried. Micii we ate were exactly like the traditional one. We definitely recommend to try this place, and to interact with the owners.

I went to the Delicios food truck for the first time on 10th and Alder streets which promises a «Taste of Transylvania». I had their chicken schnitzel sandwich and wow, wow, wow, wow! I could barely hold this monster with one hand! Nothing more needs to be said, the picture speaks for itself!

Better feng shui yr stomach before you come here. Because once you arrive at this food truck, got some China-style smiley dude ad shit on the truck, das when you know it’s gon be good. Came here with my friend who happened to be Romanian, his grandma made this kinda shit at home. Got a point of comparison b! The biggest problem with this food truck is that once you get there, you ain’t figuring out what you gon order in 1 or 2 minutes. nah, you b standin there philosophizing yr life away figuring out how to change the world with deze menu items shit. and the lady at the truck is so nice like why you gotta do dis to me, i just want mah grub. The chicken sandwich/wrap here each features 1 lb of chicken. ONE. POUND. $ 7.50. think four quarter pounders at McD. 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 1, or alternatively, 4 * 0.25 = 1. ONEPOUND. okay? HOKAY. Don’t get sick yet, yr taste buds will thank you. MEETTHEMEAT. From the menu: chicken Schnitzel wrap: spinach wrap, romaine lettuce, Romanian cabbage salad, tomatoes, provolone all natural cheese, chicken schnitzel and sauce. The chicken schnitzel wrap features a green wrap. Green means go. listen to yo elementary school teachers, you learn all the most important shit back then. So bite into it to find breaded chicken, creamy saowce, and a separate compartment of crunchy vegetables that resemble coleslaw. dat shit cray. turn yr taste buds to 11 and pound it down just like it will pound da bottom of yr stomach after each explosion of flavor in yo mouf. moral of the story is… dis place blow ya realistic standards than ya have wild unrealistic expectations of a lowlife later. let’s fuck up some commas now that we can’t move after eating this legend. … 5 outta 5

I’m eating my way through this food cart pod, and Taste of Transylvania’s turn came up. With a friend I was able to sample two of their dishes(whose names I’ve promptly forgotten in my food coma). The first was a cabbage leaf stuffed with ground chicken and rice, served with two mountains of creamy polenta covered with sour cream and feta. All flavors were delicious, but could have used some contrasting acidity or texture, like a crispy bread or some crunchy veggies. We also had the cart-made caseless beef and pork sausage. These things were as big as my fist and served with French fries. The brown mustard they provided was a nice counter-balance, and the flavors were very good. I’m fairly certain that fries are not traditional Romanian fare, but they come on the side of many of the dishes here and are un-spectacular. I frequently get asked by people what cart they can try for something unique, and this definitely fits the bill. The only drawback is that you won’t be able to sample multiple carts if you order here. The food is HEAVY.

I am originally from Romania. I grew up in Transylvania. The food here is every bit the same like my mother and my grandmother made it. I am so glad to have found them and I hope many people would try the food — it is what you get when you visit my native country. And I also have to mention the service — hospitable, friendly people. They give you the best and they deserve to hear that they are doing a great job. Thank you for feeding me!

Holy hell, what did I get myself in to here? ‘Taste’ of Transylvania? To me ‘taste’ implies a small sample. But the food here is quite the opposite of small. The schnitzel sandwich at around $ 7 clocks in at 1lb of food. That’s absurd. The wrap is just as massive as well. And it’s pretty damn tasty. Think pounded, breaded and fried chicken wrapped up with crisp lettuce, tomatoes, provolone and sauce. It’s tasty and gigantic. Service here is friendly and smiley, and the menu looks incredibly intriguing. Tomato-matzoh soup, jaegerschnitzel, and more. It’s stuff you don’t see everyday, and seems to be made with care. I look forward to returning.

I’ve never had schnitzel before, let alone Romanian ones, so this made Delicios stand out from all the other food trucks. The service is friendly, though timely, as the food is made to order. If you’re in a hurry, this place is not for you. That said, the food is worth the wait. I had the chicken schnitzel, which is insanely delicious, but quite possibly the biggest sandwich I’ve ever had in life. It’s about as large as a football, with not one, but TWO huge cutlets, and all the trimmings– including cole slaw and house dressing. Mmmmm… Clearly, this sandwich was meant for sharing, but I tried to down it all like a champ. Only got halfway through in a couple of sittings. Couldn’t finish the whole thing(and was flying back home that evening), so I gave the rest to a friend. I slightly regret that… and miss my schnitzel dearly. That said, $ 7 is a small price to pay for this experience with Romanian schnitzel.

Delicios — Taste of Transylvania, a Romanian food cart, does not have much variety, but it certainly has authenticity. They have chimney cakes, schnitzel sandwiches, wraps and meals with fries and mici, which is a Romanian pork. Although they have a small table attached to the cart, the proximity to a step and the huge chair might make it risky for some to eat on it. I decided to order the chicken schnitzel sandwich and a Sprite. The sandwich was $ 7 and the Sprite was $ 1, for a total of $ 8. It took about five minutes to receive my order, as it wasn’t usual lunchtime. After I got the sandwich, I took it to nearby O’Bryant Square. The square can have some inadequacies like the rough edgy seating, but someone could take their food from a cart to something like Director Park or Pioneer Square, or somewhere else that should be nearby. The sandwich was well-executed. As I ate it, the schnitzel had a great crunch and the sauce made it quite savory in a dairy, tangy way. Each bite was great and the bread with sesame made it quite irresistable. It was big too. This might just be one of Portland’s best sandwiches. Ultimately, Delicos is highly worthy of recommendation. They provide a great tasting experience for a low cost. Bringing food from place to place is certainly not going to work at all times, but for a quick food experience, Delicios is wonderful.

I came to the portland food carts with my 3 friends and we all agreed to split up and get something different so when I saw«transylvanian food,» I was like«WOAHGOTTATRYTHIS.» I got the chicken schnitzel after the(boss?) lady suggested it and I have no regrets! The batter is really light so it’s not overly greasy or heavy and the sandwich is HUGE! I eat a lot(I can eat a whole pizza+ dessert in one sitting) and I couldn’t even finish this sandwich! And for the size, its such a deal at only $ 7! WAIT! Back to the part where my friends and I split up to get different dishes, I walked with my sandwich around the food carts and EVERYBODY kept staring at my sandwich and asking where I got it! Somebody even took a photo of it… So if you want a huge, chicken schnitzel sandwich that willmake you feel like a celebrity, come here!

When there is a line of six or seven people speaking Romanian in front of me, I’m guessing that the food must be good and must be authentic. Rule of thumb, whenever people of a certain nationality are frequenting a restaurant of food from their own homeland, it’s probably good food. Taste of Transylvania is one of the many, many food pods at SW9th and Alder. So many choice and todays choice was Romanian food. I’m so limited when it comes to Romania. Nadia, Dracula, and the song that is as old as my father. So not a whole lot going on for me there. But I’m always up for some good food. I’ve looked at this cart before, just never really attempted to try it out. I waited too long. Small menu, but the star is the chicken schnitzel. Sandwich or wrap, you will not leave hungry. $ 7.00 will get you either one and it is so worth it. The looks that I got walking down the street with this honking big sandwich. It is bigger than advertised. Fresh baked bread, two large pieces of chicken, cabbage salad, tomatoes, lettuce and a sweet, mayo based sauce. I didn’t eat again for seven hours(and I was working in a restaurant for several of those hours). It’s definitely worth a look. They have these spiral desserts that they only make on Saturdays, and they look like they are a reason to head downtown on the weekends. Enjoy.

They sold out of chicken schnitzel sandwich before 1:00 pm. The owner told us that they hand make their bread so it sells out pretty quickly. We were disappointed because handmade bread sounded so good! After browsing all the other food carts, we returned to this one and got the chicken schnitzel meal and a chimney cake. Pretty good stuff. Not as seasoned as much as I am used to. The chicken schnitzel meal came with chicken schnitzel, fries, coleslaw-like salad, and two dipping sauces. The chimney cake was pretty good too. There were only two options available and we got the one with caramelized sugar.

I can’t even find the words to describe the chicken schnitzel sandwich. I mean, it’s big, comically so. It’s fun to walk down the street cradling it like a newborn. The contents include two schnitzel patties, a special sauce, romaine lettuce, tomatoes and a slaw. You will need to unhinge your jaw. And you might need some backup. It’s really good though. I ended up deconstructing it to make it a more human-sized meal. the fresh-baked bun is unbelievably good. I might have to go back and try their chimney cakes. That could be a fun thing to take to a potluck! Texas has nothing on Transylvania!

I love everything about this food truck. It appears to be relatively new, given the small # of reviews(and the fact that no one I knew recommended it when I asked about food trucks). Now I can’t comment on the authenticity since I’ve never had Translyvanian food, but who cares? Delicious is delicious! The fried chicken schnitzel sammie lives up to the hype and is a great deal for the price. The bread is to die for and the high quality chicken is tender and fried to perfection. I’m a huge fan of the thousand island-ish dressing they use too. It’s made to order so be prepared to wait, but it’s totally worth it!!! I bought a couple of the chimney cakes as well and even though they are prepackaged, they tasted fresh and fluffy. I highly recommend them! Last but not least, the service here is great. It’s a family-owned operation and it’s clear they put a lot of love and care into their food. In a way, eating here is like eating at someone’s home.

Really delicious, ridiculously massive chicken schnitzel sandwich. Too massive, really — that’s why I’m knocking down a star. Really, there is nobody who needs two chicken cutlets on their sandwich that takes two hands and an unhinged jaw to eat. As Kyle F. mentioned, it is impossible to squeeze this sandwich down enough to get a full bite — you’ll just make a mess with all that sauce and tomatoes. I would prefer a smaller, $ 5 version of this sandwich. Maybe if I was sharing it, it would have been fine, but let’s face it – one person probably won’t finish this in one sitting. What’s left doesn’t reheat well, and is rather disappointing in comparison to the first half that was hot and fresh. Very friendly service, and I reiterate that the sandwich(the first half of it) was absolutely terrific. The inevitable leftovers, not so much.

Stopped by for an early dinner the other day. I tried the schnitzel and fries, which came with ketchup and another sauce, tasted homemade, akin to thousand-island only maybe a little more flavorful. While the food of course was great, what really blew me away was the service. As we were waiting, the owner offered us chimney cake bits. Vaguely reminscent of pan dulce or churros, these Transylvanian goodies were sugary and hot from the oven. We definitely want to come back and try the other menu items, not only because our meal was amazing, but because the smell from the cart was so good. The little beef sausages they cooked up for the customer ahead made me question my choice. Everything just looks so great. I really wish the owners success with their food cart. I imagine it won’t be long before we see a Delcio’s café if they keep up at this rate!

After reading several rave reviews about this place, the panda hopped on board and decided to try it out. The schnitzel sandwich is the #1 seller. The owner wasn’t kidding when she said the portion was huge. Huge pretzel bun, lettuce, a lot of schnitzel, slaw, 1000 Island, cheese, and panda happiness. As promised, the schnitzel was not greasy. The meat itself was juicy and delicious. The height of the sandwich makes it all but impossible to get your mouth around it unless you can unhinge your jaw. The panda resorted to the ol’ divide-and-conquer deconstruction method. Well worth the $ 7 price tag. The chimney cake($ 5) is a popular sweet treat made fresh in the cart every day. I first had something like this at the Oregon State Fair a year or so ago. The original has a wonderful glaze, and there is a cinnamon-sugar one also for sale. A great food cart indeed!

This was my first foray into Romanian food, but if the chicken schnitzel sandwich I had here is authentic Romanian cuisine, I’m a fan. Thankfully, the menu was limited to about 10 – 12 items, so I didn’t have to agonize over my decision too much. We were grabbing our meal on the run, so I didn’t want something that required a fork or a spoon — so chicken schnitzel sandwich seemed to fit the bill perfectly. Except for this sandwich was a monster. The schnitzel itself was an extremely generous portion, breaded, and fried to perfection — crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Cheese, tomatoes, fresh crunchy slaw, and some sort of sauce that I could not identify the ingredients, but just know it was yummy. Holding all of these sandwich fillings together required a pretty substantial roll(also good) — so our $ 7 sandwich was ample to feed the two of us. It was cold and drizzly, so we sought shelter under Delicios’ small awning while eating our sandwich. The owners are a mom and son team, and very friendly. Unfortunately, we were too stuffed to eat dessert, but if we make it back again, I intend to try the chimney cake. Good stuff!
