Great place! A lot smaller than I was expecting, but they are packed with a nice selection of gis. Andy knows his stuff. With his recommendation I purchased two new gis from brands that I didn’t even think about buying prior. The fit on both ended up being top-notch. I am definitely hitting this place up first every time I need a new gi.

What a cool little store run by an awesome guy! So rare to be able to see the gear in person these days, this place is a gem.

So I’ve decided to try Jiu jitsu and have fallen in love. I’ve done a few no gi classes and needed a gi. Here’s the thing I’m old and fat and don’t even know how to tie the pants let alone what will be my best option for the price. One of my new friends at Nemesis told me about Dojo. I went in today and was greeted by Andy. Told him the extent of my knowledge and placed my decision in his hands. I tried on 4 different companies version. Andy went over all of them saying this one is to loose in the shoulder or that one doesn’t wrap around the front as nice as the other. He ran me through price options and I made my choice. Incredible service, incredible knowledge of product. Andy needs to farm himself out as a retail sales trainer. Like the rest of the Jiu Jitsu community I have met, Andy is gracious, genuine and humble. Supporting local vs online is always better but Dojo Outfitter really is a place where amazing service far outweighs just the local thing.

So Stoked to have a place like this in in the area. Back when I started training 8 years ago it seemed like the only real option to buy a gi was online and you were really rolling the dice when it came to getting a gi that fit you right. Now-a-days the grappling scene has grown and its awesome to have a shop that is fully stocked with a multitude of gi’s from a variety of manufacturers. This little store is ran by a nice young man named Andy who is also quite the practitioner himself(holding a Black belt in Judo and a Brown Belt in Jiujitsu). Andy was super helpful finding me a Gi that was in my price range and that fit me well. It was highly accommodating being able to try on different gis and seeing what fit my body type the best. Prices were very close to anything I seen on the internet and I don’t know of any other shop like this in the whole northwest that has such a good selection. The vibe was really friendly inside and next time I need any grappling gear I will be sure to return. Can’t say enough good things about this little shop.

I love how the judo scene in Portland is growing! With the 3 judo and a slew of BJJ dojos in Portland proper there’s need for an honest to god judo and jiujitsu store. Luckily for all of us, Andy has opened a compact but fully stocked store in Northwest Portland. He carries a full selection of gis from MIzuno and regional brands like Fushida; and has the expertise to make sure you have right fit for your sport. I knew what I wanted so I was in and out in a few minutes after trying on the kimono and introducing myself to him — didn’t take the time to check out all his wares like BJJ equipment but if you need something DO is the place to get in Portland. The store is collocated in the storage building between 16th and 17th on Overton; look for the red and white window decorations!
