Its hard to find parking for Dollar Tree so I parked in the Starbucks and Verizon lot. But didnt have a problem. Its a nice Dollar Tree and they add more employees as needed.

While it is not where I would expect it, This is a store that is different from anything else in the area, It is a place to get stuff you need for cheap. They pack a lot into that little shop. Lots of stuff, lots of variety. A few of my favorite things to buy here Gift bags(much easier than gift wrap) they also have tissue paper to make it look better. Cards, sometimes I want to send a card for cheep… here they are a buck. Odds and ends that always seem to change. OK most of my shopping here is for paper stuff, but for a buck, it’s a good deal! Best of all I always get in and out fast.

This Dollar Tree is a great asset to the community. Surprisingly, it manages to exist in a high-end neighborhood despite the chain’s association typically being with the very poor. No item is itself exceptional, but the value can well exceed an item priced at a dollar. All kinds of things here and there can be found. Looking around here was pleasant. I found a night light for my hallway. The staff were friendly. This is close to light rail. Savings await you.

Dolla?! Holla! My diet Dr. Pepper craving is indeed fixed for only a dollar here. I bought ALL of the cinnamon mints they had in stock. God, I love cinnamon. Foodish-wise, that’s about all I’ll buy. Whenever I’m in charge of bringing a salad to a dinner party, I buy a big, clear plastic decorative salad bowl and the serving spoon and fork. I take the salad to the host/hostess and just leave the bowl there if they let me. Only a buck, baby. I frequently buy scented candles, very frequently. I can never have enough candles. Gift wrap and seasonal goods are always a great bargain too. Stuff like cleaning supplies that cost $ 2 and $ 3 dollars at Fred Meyer across the street, can easily be substituted for the $ 1 finds at The Dollar Tree. There are oodles of odds n’ends that you can pick up at the Dollar Tree. Quality isn’t always going to be top-notch of course: I’m looking at you 1 ply toilet paper. But you weren’t really expecting all top-shelf items now were you? Review # 106 — PDXYelp 100 challenge

Dollar Tree is bare minimum and sometimes not even. It’s good especially for packaging and gift wrap, disposable goods of that nature. It’s bad for anything that is not disposable, and terrible at anything edible. I’d made the mistake of once buying some shredded mozzarella on a last minute run to finish making a pizza back at home. We bought three bags, each for a dollar. I thought, «what a steal.» Because how could you make mozzarella wrong, right? All it has to do is melt. Wrong. All three bags of mozzarella had mold in the bottom of the bag. Which we didn’t notice until we’d used some of the cheese on top. And it was before the packaged expiration date. The pizza tasted awful with the dollar store cheese. Never again will I underestimate the crapitude of the accidental, misguided grocery purchase at the Dollar Tree. Shit so nasty it should be illegal.

Oh, Dollar Tree, you complete me. All the way from bubble wrap envelopes to cleaning supplies and beyond, you keep me coming back for the adventure of never knowing what I’m going to find and then being completely surprised that it’s there(and then shaking my head, looking around, and saying inside my head, of course, «how could I have doubted you.»). And talk about truth in advertising, everything really is a dollar each. Some of the locals in the spendier apartment houses/condo developments are a little miffed that there’s a Dollar Tree near them, not hoity-toity enough for them and all, but you know how bland is it to live only in 23rd Avenue(or as some call it, «Trendy-Third Avenue») world? Mix it up, people, and learn to enjoy the combination of all the different kinds of people that come to visit Dollar Tree(and there is a true cross-section of society that visits this location, and it’s a lot of fun to watch the interactions). One of the funniest and sweetest things to watch are the little ones who come in the door with a dollar or four burning a hole in their pocket and really doing some careful and time-consuming shopping with their dollar(s). Anyhow, I thoroughly enjoy every visit at this Dollar Tree, and would encourage you to go and simply look around if nothing else, but I suspect you’ll be walking out of the store with more than you bargained for when you first entered the door.

I was in town to help out with Unilocal’s big«back to future» bash and joined my colleagues here to find some«futuristic» decorations. I’ve been to a few dollar stores in Chicago, but am always disappointed to see that not everything is actually a dollar. So I was pretty stoked to see that everything here is actually $ 1. And since there’s no sales tax in Portland(uh-mazing) it really is $ 1. I was so excited that I’ll admit I had a little bit of trouble focusing on the task at hand, especially when I discovered the few aisles of kids toys. Hundreds of kids toys… all at $ 1. My daughter was about to become one lucky baby and it was going to cost me practically nothing. A princess watch? $ 1! An elmo bath book? $ 1! An elmo coloring book(can you see we have a bit of an elmo obsessed in our house)? $ 1! Crayons $ 1! Winnie the Pooh flashcards? $ 1! The total(in case you are mathematically challenged)= $ 5!!! We did end up finding quite a bit of decorations as well… actually 90 decorations for a total of $ 90. I couldn’t stop talking about this experience all day. I visited a bunch of incredible businesses while in Portland, but I think this may have been my favorite. Can’t beat a store full of $ 1 goodies.

What can you buy for a dollar these days? Not much you say? Well at Dollar Days a buck can go a long way! Searching for party décor we walked into Dollar Days and I skeptically asked my boss, «Is everything in here really a dollar?» And to my surprise everything really was a dollar! And because we were in Portland there was no sales tax. Oh hot damn! You might think that I’m really goofy but in Honolulu there are no true dollar stores because commercial leases are so expensive. I bought a bunch of items for my children: toothbrushes, headbands, a Princess watch, rubber bands. I spent $ 12 total and I was unbelievably stoked! The toothbrushes alone would have cost that much at a drug store in Honolulu. I also purchased Mardi Gras beads and mustaches for future marketing booths I know I’d have coming up which totaled $ 44. If I had ordered these items online I would have spend well over $ 150 when you add in the shipping costs. I think if I had more time and room in my suitcase I would have loaded up with kids goody bag items for the entire year. I make 44 goody bags for every holiday for my children to take to school and I could have done some major damage at the Dollar Days store! I’ll be back on my next trip to Portland and trust me when I say that it’s my new favorite store! Unilocal 365 Challenge: #152/365(The Dollar Deals)

Its no 99 cents only store, but its a decent dollar store… Don’t park in the lot where the Starbucks/FedEx is(which is the SAME building)– I was the dollar tree for 10 minutes and I got a 34 $ ticket… made my dollar store experience pretty pricey. They apparently validate for the underground garage around the block.

You get what you pay for. And sometimes the get is good. I buy my dishwashing accoutrements from here, and they’re just as good as the higher priced versions at the retailers. I’ve also even hit up this place for some work-related supplies that I needed on the cheap. They are, as my rating goes, A-OK.

Found this store as we were walking up back to the hotel after spending all day in downtown. Thought there were tons of stuff! I couldn’t believe everything was a dollar. We ended up getting a six-pack of water, some snacks, and other things all for under $ 10. What a deal! I also ended up buying stuff to take back to my classroom for next school year. They had a good variety of teacher stuff.

Whoa! A dollar store in one of those new fancy high rises? Whoa! A dollar store that sells frozen meals? I want to live in this fancy high rise some day and eat all of my meals from their freezer. I enjoy extremes and efficiency.
