Very rude to me when I called. I told him to give me a second to think. He got mad and obnoxious over the phone. I asked him simple questions, he gave me rude responses. fuck that place !

The manager literally just called me an idiot to my face. When I questioned how he can be so rude to a paying customer he said «do I not have the mental capacity to understand?» I will never spend my money in this establishment again and encourage you to take your business elsewhere. Do not let this guy insult your intelligence and take your money at the same time.

Not a dump. A clean, economical place to stay. Close to everything – multiple great restaurants, bars and coffee shops within a few blocks. Not fancy but did have a fridge and micro, ironing board and iron, basic toiletries. No hairdryer, but the desk will lend you one. Great water pressure in the shower and quiet– even on the 1^st floor. Parking and WiFi is free, felt totally secure.

This hotel was clean and well-​managed. The employees were helpful and kind. Room was basic but fine.

The GPS route *almost* scared me as it took me on a seedy tour of possible hooker-​addicts in an industrial area. It’s a basic motel, nuttin’ fancy. But given the extreme hipness factor and $$$$ all over Portlandia this is a more than acceptable and reasonable option. The ²⁴⁄₇ personell in office were extremely professional and helpful. The clientele was mass appeal and the parking (free) was monitored to keep the ajoining club patrons from taking up spaces. Room clean, bed comfortable. Coffee in office with vending machines. Should be higher score but I can’t find the ½ key.

Wonderful and friendly customer service at the front desk-​felt welcomed upon arrival. Although the rooms are lower in quality, the stay was still fine and it gets the job done. Convenient location to downtown and hard to beat nightly rates. Will definitely be staying again if ever I go back to Portland!

Giving this place a 4 since they are central to everything… not the hippest, chic or luxurious hotel I’ve ever stayed in… but it’ll do for the 1 night I stay in portland. Walking distance to breweries, shopping and DT portland. Definitely worth the price!

Perfectly clean, safe, quiet room in a great location. My family and I were worried when we read the review accusing this place of bed bugs, but there absolutely were none. The service was great; they assured us we would get a refund if the room wasn’t clean and showed it to us personally. If you’re looking for an inexpensive yet comfortable room in the middle of Portland this is it! No complaints!

Summary: If you’re willing to skimp on features for a room at an extremely reasonable price in the middle of absolutely everything, this is what you are looking for. It isn’t bad, but this is definitely not the ritz.
PRO’s:
— Extremely, extremely friendly staff (Naseem rocked, as did everyone else I dealt with)
— Room perks: tv, microwave, fridge, safe, iron /​ironing board, on site laundry room
— On a main vein with lots of interesting shops in both directions
— Very close to downtown, literally walking distance (and to a part of downtown you would want to go to)
— Everything was clean and sanitary
— The windows open!
CON’s: (Nothing major, just a matter of taste)
— I don’t think anything has been updated since the 70’s
— Stall shower that is on the small side even for a stall shower
— Not much sound proofing
— The AC doesn’t have a thermostat, just «low cool» and «high cool», so I woke up boiling a few times
— Though the rooms have safes, mine didn’t due to «maintenance». They offered to put my stuff in the main office safe, but that obviously isn’t very convenient if you’re going to be coming and going a lot.
GENERAL NOTES:
— This is *not* a «family» hotel. It’s not that it’s especially seedy, but it’s a cheap place in the middle of a lot of entertainment, so most people staying here came to town to hit the clubs. Anyone with kids will probably want a quieter place that is not in the middle of everything.
— While we did not have a car, I noticed that there is a good amount of parking, but the lot was pretty full the entire time we were there. Being in the middle of everything, I don’t know how available addition parking is in the area.
— There is an «alternative» strip club directly across the street called Union Jack’s if you want to spend (or earn) some money. I hear that the Suicide Girls (a touring national act of tattooed and pierced burlesque performers) perform there as individuals when not on the road. I only stuck my head in there for a minute, and it seemed ok, but the Kit Kat club only about two miles away is a very high end version of the same thing and is like the kind of strip club you think only exists in movies, so I’d recommend that place if «alternative» strip clubs are your thing.
— Douglas Fir is a great place to eat just a half block away. It’s affordable and has a great menu. There is also a coffee shop called Grendel’s across the street from Douglas Fir, though it’s as stripped down as a coffee shop gets so I stuck with Douglas Fir.
— I’m fairly noise-​sensitive, but found things to be basically ok on that front. That said, if you *really* like your quiet, this probably isn’t the best place. Like I mentioned, there are a lot of people coming in from late nights and not a lot of sound proofing, but there were no real problems and the front desk was so friendly and helpful that I am sure if there was an obnoxious group (past chatter on the way back to their room) that they would handle it for you.
— I read the elevator being maligned in a number of other reviews and was very interested to see how badly it was going to suck when I got here, but was disappointed to find it was just a normal elevator. I think people see the ancient buttons that don’t look like they’re any more recent than the 70’s and project the worst, but apart from old buttons, it went at the same speed as every other elevator I’ve ever been in.
— We got interconnecting rooms! I called and asked about this and was told that there weren’t any because that would be a «safety issue», and was delighted when we showed up and had connecting rooms after all. They connect with two doors, so either party can lock the door and prevent a stranger from getting in, but if you’re traveling with your neighbor this is a highly welcome feature.
— I read about the wifi being maligned in a number of the other reviews for being very slow, but it was totally fine and actually faster than my high speed connection at home. The only downside was that I had to keep entering my password through a web page network loging window every time I opened my laptop back up (as opposed to having the option to store the credentials on your wifi options like you normally can on a private network), but it isn’t a huge deal.

We stopped here on our way back from Vancouver and Seattle back to SF. After spending a night in the pretentious W Hotel in Seattle we chose a simple motel to bring us back to reality.
The guy at the checkin was very friendly and gave us a warm welcome. The parking is convenient. The rooms offer all you can expect: shower, toilet, TV, fridge and a microwave. Other than that it could need a refresh.
They offer a cool promotion with über. When I launched über I got a notification that there’s a promo code for rides going from /​to the east side motel

80ish bucks a night on a summer weekend in Portland is what brought us here. The location is easy walking distance from old town and downtown and there are plenty of good eating and drinking spots just a block away.
It was also very easy to get here driving in from out of town (literally freeway exit and you are on the road you need to be on). The service staff was nice and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable as the bathroom was a decent size.
We had a hiccup with the A/​C but it was user error and not faulty equipment.
With all the nightlife, you would expect some exterior noise, but we never even heard our neighbors on a sold out Saturday night.
This isn’t a «resort» or 4 star place, but it is clean, decent, and quiet with a great location. I would definitely stay here again next time I’m in the area.

You get what you pay for, simple as that.
I was tired from my flight, needed a room for the night and booked the first hotel that popped up under $ 100. The slender man with glasses who checked in in was excellent. He was polite, concise, and helpful.
The overall quality of the room was decent. Everything was outdated, but everything worked except the wall socket next to the bed behind the nightstand. The bed wasn’t comfortable, but it was a bed at least, and there was a small work desk which came in handy. I repeat, you get what you pay for.
Cons:
To the portly man who showed me directions to the nearest bus stop for the MAX, I found you extremely uncomfortable to talk to. Never comment on a perfume/​cologne preference of a person and insist on knowing their name. It makes guests like me who are traveling alone extremely uncomfortable and disgusted. Hence switching hotels to avoid another unnecessary conversation. To put it bluntly, I wanted to know how to get from point A to point B, not to be hit on or wiffed. Work on your interaction skills, that is no way to treat a guest.

If you are like us and you use your hotel room as a home base rather than as a hangout, this place is worth a try if you can get a good deal. We paid about $ 70/​night. The room was clean, the bed was decent, the front desk staff were friendly, and the parking was FREE, which is a huge plus for us because we tend to visit many breweries when we’re in Portland and are happy to tuck our car away at the hotel and travel on foot for the duration of our stay. Burnside Brewing and Grendel’s Coffee are right down the street. For finer dining, you have Le Pigeon and The Farm just across the street. Old Town and the Pearl District are a quick 1 – 1.5 mile walk across the Burnside Bridge. Overall, the place worked for US.
That being said, I would not pay more than $ 75 for a room here and wouldn’t advise anyone else to either.

This hotel is «fine». My boyfriend and I stayed here last weekend because of the proximity to what we were doing – an on-​foot brewery tour. This location is within 1 mile of six (!) breweries.
OLD building, which I love because it’s solidly built (ie: you won’t hear your neighbors/​people walking above you/​etc.) Some reviews mention noise from the strip club across the street; we didn’t have this issue, as we were in the back building away from this. However, this building does back up onto a fairly busy street. As always, ear plugs and/​or a fan worked great.
Perks: in-​room microwave and fridge. Iron, too, for those of you who do such a thing. FREE parking, though some reviews said that the lot was full. We had no trouble.
Cons: No hairdryer or in-​room coffee. Coffee at the front desk, which received bad reviews. We never tried it. We had SPECTACULAR coffee at Grendel’s, which is just a block to the west.
Also, this place could use some trim work – there is NOTHING fancy about it. But if you’re looking for a hot shower (with decent water pressure) and a comfortable bed, for a decent price – and you’re not too concerned about aesthetics – you’ll be fine.

If you have ever watched Breaking Bad, this motel is kinda like what Jesse lives in for a while. Ratty, musty, dirty. If that is your jam, then please stay here.
The rooms are atrocious. First off, there are no lights in the entire room. Only lamps. At one point I had a breaker flip and a lamp go out. I called management and asked for someone to fix it, the guy said it was probably just a burnt out light and he would fix it the next day. I tried to explain that I switched bulbs with another lamp but he hung up on me. Sure enough, the next day the lamp was still broken. Worst service ever.
Another highlight is the elevator. I seriously think that you could break the record for slowest ascent in that elevator. For real. This elevator is the kind that gives people irrational fears of elevators. Only in this elevator, your fear is totally rational.
The WiFi is horrible. Really slow, and I was worried that someone was stealing my personal information.
In summary, if you live for musty, moldy smells, The Eastside Lodge is for you. If you want to be robbed, the Eastside Lodge is a good place to start. And finally, if you ever want to show your kids what it was line to have dial-​up Internet, The Eastside Lodge is for you.

I love this place. My room was spotless and the sheets and bedding were white and comfy. The front desk staff was friendly and eager that I enjoyed myself.
I used to stay at the Jupiter when I see shows at the Doug Fir. But I get a much better night’s sleep here and the price is a lot better. And there’s actually off-​street parking… for free!
I just booked another night for this Saturday.

I’ll start with the pros of this hotel: front desk staff is extremely friendly, room has extra amenities like fridge, microwave, and safe. There are good restaurants and shops across the street and down the block, and it’s close to downtown although it’s a bit of a walk (you have to cross the bridge). The bed and pillows are comfy!
Cons: when we first checked in, the man at the front desk told us not to use the elevator because someone got stuck in there. our room had a strange odor (urin?), the inside is pretty drab and appears to be very old, badly needs refurbishing. Although everything was clean. Wifi is slow.
All in all, it was good for the price-​I would have preferred to be closer to the downtown area but most hotels are just too pricy, so Eastside Lodge worked for us.

It is what it is & that’s all I gotta say about it. Whenever I need a hotel I always look for the cheapest decent room so I can have extra money to explore & take in the town. After reading the reviews for Eastside Lodge it was everything I expected. A cheap place to sleep off the day & nights activities. As mentioned previously, the room itself was clean but can use a makeover but that’s what makes it so cheap. I’m sure the motel would be twice as expensive otherwise. The neighborhood it’s in was cool too & is within walking distance to several key spots in Portland. Because of this we were able to walk much of Portland instead of driving.
This is definitely no Hilton or Radisson, but it works & if I’m ever in Portland again I will definitely look at this motel first.

I’ll start off by saying that the only reason they’re getting 2 stars instead of 1 is because the people who work there are so nice.
I was told that the lodge had been remodeled, apparently they forgot the 3^rd floor. The floor was almost sticky, but also felt like there had been sand sprinkled in some places. There was such small walking space between the bed and the bathroom. The a/​c unit was amazing, but only pointed up, or into the other bed.
The curtain, I don’t know what was on it, but it was gross.
For the price, I would not stay there again. Even if all the employees were so kind.

This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had at a motel. The blankets had brown and yellow stains on them and beer bottle caps and cans were found underneath the bed. We parked our car there for only 8 hours overnight, and yet in the morning we see that someone had bent one of our side mirrors, left a 4-​inch scratch on the door, and released the air pressure from our front left tire by removing the cap and bending the nozzle.
We were originally supposed to stay for two nights, but had to cancel the second night due to safety and vandalism concerns. We also did not want to risk more damages to our car. I absolutely do NOT recommend this place.
