This place is fantastic. They are super friendly, quick, and very understanding of dietary restrictions and allergies. The food is fantastic, and their salsas are crack sauce. Will definitely be frequenting them.

This place was the perfect spot to get an post-workout burrito the size of my face. There are a variety of salsas to try and they are all delicious. Try the habanero salsa if you like a kick and the tomatillo salsa if you like a little less of a kick. The potato sticks add a nice crunch and there’s enough cheese so things come together but it’s not overpowering or «gooey.» The food cart is the cleanest I’ve ever seen and the owner is friendly and conscious of dietary restrictions. I will definitely return.

I almost don’t want to write this so no one else finds out about it. Portland doesn’t have many secrets left. We’ve lived here 8 years and this is the Mexican food we have been searching for. 3 items, 6 different ingredient combos. $ 8. Simple, and tasty. Black salsa was so good, and we’ll be back to try the others. Eric(Erik?) the owner, was genuinely friendly, relaxed and very quick to get out everyone’s order.

I had the Vaca Loca burrito with their Mango Habanero salsa. The burrito was filled with tasty ingredients and fresh romaine lettuce. I asked them to spice it up a bit with their mango habanero salsa… wow, this salsa is exceptional, a bit sweet yet filled with kick.

Never had a veggie burrito this complex. My mouth was surprised and delighted. Fresh, feisty, and fiercely flavorful.

Fabulous. Excellent. Delicious. Superb. The best burrito in SE Portland, and I have not tried their tacos or anything else. Get the steak, shut up an eat(to steal that great sandwich shop name).

Ok, as of the date of my review, this place has 5 stars, which makes me skeptical, but after eating, I TOTALLYGETIT. Fantastic food. Best Mexican food I have had in Portland. This place takes all of the best parts of Mexican cuisine(authentic flavors, delightfully salsas, and crispy brown tortillas) and blends them with ONLYTHEBEST American concepts. Which really comes down to texture. The added crunch to these amazing traditional flavors is definitely tongue blowing(mind blowing for your tongue). This is definitely among my favorite Mexican restaurants worldwide, and within that, for sure my favorite Mexican restaurant in Portland. Added bonus: the owner running the stand was the nicest, most welcoming person I’ve met in Portland, and my wife and I loved talking with him after our meal about how he developed his flavors. HIGHLYRECOMMEND!

Excellent addition to the neighbourhood. This guy makes excellent food at amazing prices. The chicken is my personal favourite but ask for the spicier sauce to make it a perfect combo.

Full of flavor and yes, even texture. They’ve figured something out here that is new and delicious without going too far and reinventing the wheel. Finally a legit place to get burritos on Belmont. Price for portion is more than reasonable. Come hungry or make it a second meal.

Vaca Loca burrito was amazing! Massive in size and flavor. Juicy steak complimented by the crunch of stick fries was unusual in the best way possible. Fresh ingredients and avocados on everything at no additional charge. Not your run-of-the-mill burrito and simply one of the best I’ve had in Portland. Not to mention the owner is extraordinarily friendly to boot. I highly recommend El Diablito and I’m very excited to have this cart in Sunnyside. I only wish they were open late — this would make an incredible late night bite!

I had planned to check out this recently relocated and reopened cart today for lunch but ended up having to work late. My dining partner was left to enjoy his vaca loco burrito solo. After work my phone had several texts many of which shared the sentiment«SOO good!» Lucky for me he thoughtfully grabbed me an el diablito torta to-go. The cart is tucked discreetly away in a small food cart pod in-between 2 buildings between 34th and 35th across from the Tao of Tea on Belmont. Although I am the first to agree most food tastes best when hot and fresh, my boxed lunch was so packed with flavor I had to restrain myself from devouring the entire thing in minutes. I am embarrassed to think how I might act when I eat one of these freshly prepared masterpieces at the food cart(and take my word for it, that will be in the VERY near future!) The meat in the torta was well flavored and cooked perfectly, neither dry nor mushy, and was adorned with tomato, avocado, lettuce, and those oh so delicious fried shoestring potatoes, and then pillowed between soft toasted bread, making it a pretty epic lunch-time meal. The yellow habanero sauce was the perfect must-have condiment. I can’t wait to try all of the other sauce creations! Seriously, visit this cart. Often. The flavors are taken to a whole nother level by potatoes that have been transformed into a delicious crunchy fried happy existence. You simply can’t deny the magic of this cart.

Torta Torta Torta. Very rarely do I get«blown away» by Mexican food in Portland. Today was a good day. One great one just emerged and is in SE Portland. El Diablito’s(the little devil) food is not only bursting with everything you would expect with Mexican food like wonderful spices, savory meats, fresh guacamole, fresh home made sauces all on a tortilla or in my case I had the Torta. About the Torta, well first off, the bun is vegan and he fills it with slow cooked chicken, Steak, Pork or vegetarian. The cook Erik does this really cool thing with his Burritos and Tortas, he adds shoe string potatoes on the inside that give his food texture and a layer of flavor that doesn’t weigh it down. I think by it being shoe string potatoes keeps it light and crunchy. They also put lettuce inside which again is very creative and comes together real nice, It’s pretty big and can easily be shared, I loved e v e r y bite. So, I would recommend the Tortas with the slow roasted pork. Very Very Good ! Congratulations El Diablito ! and welcome to SE Belmont. Can’t wait to return.

This cart has reopened on 34th and SE Belmont just east of Zupans in that little cart alley. I ordered the chicken burrito and it was crunchy, zesty, and very good quality. Eric is really cool and nice. Love it!

Take it from an Elite. This is no fake review– I’ve already reported the fake ones, hopefully the higher ups can see through them. I would like the recent«one star reviews» to tell me WHERE they’ve tried this food, since the address isn’t even correct on here. Unilocal is about reviewing food and atmosphere… Not your political opinions, people. I was at the actual re– Grand Opening, and the media turned it into something devious. They knew this story would be something people would take sides on– come on, sheeple… ratings! «A bunch of Latinos and children» ?! There were like 3 kids and a mix of Hispanic and Caucasians, lol! The piñata? Symbolism. Do we hate on cute rainbow pony piñatas? No! Now for the food… I’ve tried the El Diablita torta– amazing bread and filling. He obviously makes everything from scratch– even cart made salsa AND chips, yum! We also tried the pork tacos– wow! My very favorite was the Akumal(chicken) burrito, two kinds of salsas and a slight crunch. Placed along side was a beautiful roasted jalapeño, and house made chips. There are vegan options as well. This guy knows his food. I wish there was a way to shove a burrito into the mouths of the foul and obviously false reviewers. They would change their tunes real quick;) The cart is beautiful, and the new locations has a great atmosphere, in an up and coming Portland food pod. Go seek out the best Mexican food you will EVER have in the Portland area!

FIRST, the girl at the counter is super nice. When I asked if she could suggest something(usually annoying but pretty much the way to go when traveling in PDX), she did and they were the best tacos ever. Chicken, mango, avocado, green sauce, and potato sticks? WOW. The man who handed me my tacos at the window was also so sweet. He asked if I was new to the area because he knew most people in the area and I told him I was visiting. As with all of my Portland experiences, service was friendly and over-the-top spectacular!

Been coming here since it opened(when they only served tortas) and damn, these are the best tortas I’ve ever had! Get the Akumal or El Diablito, or both. Portions are very generous too. Anything can be made as a salad, burrito, or taco, so they’ve got what you want. Go here.

This is by far my new favorite food cart in Portland. It costs a bit more than other mexican food carts in PDX, but every penny spent goes directly into quality. The Akumal salad is easily the best thing since sliced bread. Infact, when sliced bread was invented they almost didn’t keep it since it didn’t live up to how amazing this salad was… but they kept it since they knew they were judging against perfection. Price: $ 7 – 8 on average. Quantity: I’ve never left anything but full and I’m a fat kid. Quality: FRIGGENAMAZING! Through the roof well done with amazing ingredients and lots of attention to flavor. This cart is on it’s A-game! It’s also stumbling distance from my work, so I go here a lot, but when we move offices I’ll walk the extra distance. It’s that good. Someday when I’m president of the country I will send Air Force One to get me a burrito and salad from here. Anyways 5 stars, and the new standard by which all $ 7 – 8 food cart meals will be judged!
