Loved this place when it was Cheers. Loved this place when it was Quimby’s. Sorry to see it closing due to Portland gentrification.

This bar has turned so many great employees and brought in slow don’t care attitude cooks and bar tenders… I only venture here now when Joe or Ben work other than that you might wait 20 min for a beer or get attitude from the guy that looks like a flock of seagulls

The honest truth is that this place is great during football season, and average the rest of the year. There are never so many people that you have to stand in a corner, and their food specials are awesome. They are also always understaffed and ordering and getting food can feel like an ordeal at times.

The burger was okay. Nothing special. The fries were awful. They tasted like they were dusted with flour AFTER they came out of the fryer. They use cheap booze in their drinks. It took a long time for the food to arrive even though there were only a handful of people there. We won’t go back. We went because of the 4-star rating. We were very disappointed.

Great service with above average bar fare. Comfortable relaxed atmosphere easily one of my favorites. Great homemade soups too.

Local bar ambience, all the games are on the TV, very strong drinks, too. There’s always a seat available, the food menu is limited(mostly pizzas and hamburgers), but the items are tasty. Cool low key place to hang out and get a few drinks that’s reasonably priced.

I found this place on Unilocal and it is fantastic! Allan, the bartender, is super friendly and immediately made us feel at home. We came at happy hour and he poured really strong and great drinks. Everyone here is very friendly and even as I type this review, the Blazer game and the Timbers game is on and the whole bar is into it and yet conversation is happening. I love this place and owe it to Unilocal to bring me here. I will be back.

Taking a walk a week ago, I stumbled across this bar advertising grass-fed burgers. I bookmarked it on the Unilocal app. Tonite I’m back to check it out. OK! Cool place! Ping pong, pool tables and jute box. Comfy, cozy, leather worn booths. Scratched & scuffed-up wood floors. Detective Monk would say«Looks like this place has been around awhile.» Curve-linear bar. Big screen TV’s. Way way OK! Music by the«Who» took me back to the 70’s until some«goofy chicks» asked to change it to something crappy! Not so OK! I sat at the bar and listened to the local chitchat. OK too! I enjoyed the grass fed burger with Swiss cheese and jalapeño peppers. I could barely put my hand around it, so thick — $ 8.25. The basic burger with lettuce, tomato and onion is $ 6.75. It is 1⁄3 lb., Carman Ranch — grass-fed — I’m glad I checked it out. OK then! OK! OK! Good Ten Barrel IPA($ 4.50) with an NBA game! 5 – 6 brews on tap. OK!

What can I say, the food took a while on a busy afternoon and the bartender took care of a round for me and my lady. Fun dive bar with free pool and pong.

Can’t say our experience here was very good. We were on the Brewcycle tour and Quimby’s was one of the stops. We chose to go here instead of Lucky Lab because they offered cocktails as well as beer. Being on the Brewcycle, we have exactly 25 minutes to get in, get a drink and get out to head to our next destination. Quimby’s employees know this because they have an agreement with the Brewcycle. We walked in and were the first people to hit the bar. The one and only bartender was helping other people at the time which was fine. Some girls came in behind us. He served all 3 of them before us.(ladies first, understood). Then another guy, presumably a regular, walked up and was served before us. Then, he served someone at the other end of the bar. It just kept going. Over the course of 10 – 15 minutes, he served 6 people before even acknowledging our existence and when my buddy started to speak to the bartender, he gave us a finger wag and said, «just a minute». Long story short, we left and downed a beer as fast as possible at Lucky Lab so we wouldn’t be late. We got our drinks there in about 2 minutes. I can’t speak for the quality of food or drinks as we never had the opportunity to try any. Maybe the bartender doesn’t like the Brewcycle crowd, but from a business standpoint, I would love having another company funneling business into my establishment. Needless to say, I will not be returning ever again. They better hope the regulars that were served ahead of our group keep them in business because I certainly won’t come back and if this is the standard for new customers, I wouldn’t expect other people to return either.

Stopped in for happy hour. Nice neighborhood bar feel. They have a bar size pool table, pong pong, and a juke box. I sat at the bar. The bartender was friendly enough very responsive. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and it was delicious. I would definitely go back.

$ 1.50 Raniers(HH), and Old Crow is the well whiskey, enough said right? This is our favorite neighborhood dive. It’s a great place to pull up a seat at the bar and watch a game on two bar TV’s(more around dining room), play pool, sing/watch karoake, engage in trivia nights, Taco Tuesdays, unlimited peanuts, etc. It’s a good sign when your list of freebies, or value-added items goes on and on and on right? Oh, the music is always great too, from Journey to Black Street to everything in between. Food is actually decent for a dive bar and drinks are stiff like they should be. Everyday is an excuse to drink so any night of the week will surprise you with a handful of colorful characters who end up being best friends within a couple of hours. Cheers to Quimby’s we do love this little gem.

I hadn’t been in this spot since it was Cheers and I have to admit I like the changes they made. The bar’s atmosphere has a nice relaxing feel. Prices are decent for drinks and they have a good selection. I didn’t eat but the food looked OK.
Understanding that I have only been here once I felt that the bartenders seemed slow compared to how busy they are. I would have no problem returning to this neighborhood bar.

Food wise, I think it’s best to just think of this place as a 3 star bar, where if you get really really really hungry, you don’t HAVE to leave to eat something. If you think of it like that, then 3 stars feels right. If you think of it as a place to go and eat something, you better think again — like 2 stars thinking. Spend your money on the beer /drinks and walk around the back of this place and eat at the food carts. The other day we met someone here to exchange holiday gifts and we were super freaky hungry and broke our rule and ordered a Caesar Salad add chicken and a burger — nice and plain. The burger was on the skinny side(thin & small patty) but alright and the salad was 30% bottom of the bag croutons, 60% wilted lettuce, and 10% of some really pathetic little hunks of chicken? My partner and I and guest all commented that it was like they realized they didn’t have any of the ingredients and just said, what the hell, just throw something together vs. tell me they were out of… salad? I shouldn’t bitch though, because as a bar, they have good service, cheap prices, warm seats, a sweet ass ping pong table AND they serve me.

I visited this bar for the first time over the weekend with a buddy who highly recommended it – he and I met there to watch some college football. Sat at the bar and enjoyed some great IPA drafts and good pizza(go with the small sized pizza — it’s plenty big enough for two people). The service is rather impeccable. Attentive, kind and respectful bartenders round out an overall enjoyable experience.

Take the old dive and revamp the entire interior, hire some of Yur’s and Joe’s Cellar’s best talent, add in food trucks, new and old regulars, and we have 5 stars. PS, I’m pretty sure I left my tab open since I don’t remember how I left.

Quimby’s is a decent neighborhood bar. Cheapish drinks, comfortable, with pool and ping pong to keep you entertained if you’re not lounging out on the sidewalk seating. Not a place I’d go out of my way to hit up, but I’ve been there several times with friends who live nearby. The beer snob in me would like to see better taps, but the few they have are usually at least semi-interesting.

Discovered this new place as we were leaving the PDX Block Party at The Slate. Grabbed a table and were greeted by a lovely gal who told us we could bring food in from the Cart Pod, or order from their pizza and salad menu. Only one of the Food carts was open so we ordered pizza and wine. Personal 8″ pizza’s range in price from $ 9 — $ 11 depending on topping. Super thin crust. Pretty tasty. We’ll go back once the food carts are open. Good place for meeting up with friends. Large patio area is great for summer evenings. Service friendly and attentive. Split our check with no qualms.

This was Cheers, originally an Italian restaurant built in a 1947 ethnic neighborhood. A lot changed and it became a bar, then dived. Still many fond memories of late weeknight free dance parties thrown here by the Temple of Sound. The music could be as loud as needed, no condos were here then. It’s all changed. Now a legit neighborhood bar emerges from those Cheers dive bar roots. They have a food cart pod, with potential, next door; and you can bring food into the bar. Half a dozen taps, split between all American mass mainstreams and local micros. The regular bar menu is pizza and a selection of salads. All new, they are planning karaōke, the food carts are figuring their hours. Even so, the neighbors have discovered it and it was half full on a Friday evening. Free WiFi too. Perfect spot if you need a stiff one after a playdate( ), the doggie daycare( ) or St Patrick’s( ). None of them have a full bar(some have beer and/or wine), but are all neighbors in this increasingly spiffy neighborhood. Quimby’s opens at 11, when exactly does mass get out?
