Just opened today, the staff is super helpful and spent all afternoon fitting some boots. They were mislabeled (at a lower price) but when they realized the error they stuck with the deal. Excellent service and stand-​up dudes, will definitely be back!

Store is sick. Staff is awesome and when they have those little tent sales outback I love them even more. I drop by evo for my Mt Hood Fusion pass and always feel impressed by the store. All that + tax free Oregon makes this Washington state riders favorite snowboard shop. No hate Seattle, Its just that tax perk is hard to ignore. ;)

I chose this place because I felt they were the most knowledgeable about buying ski equipment and treated me well as a shopper. I was buying skis and boots for the very first time and was doing a lot of research. I felt like for expert advice REI was lacking –they were more like the Home Depot of sporting goods. then I went to another hard-​core local sports store and the guy barely paid attention to me almost like he didn’t have time to deal with me because I wasn’t a hard core skier (I’m comfortable on blues) and had too many questions. Then I went to Evo– the sales guy who helped me paid attention to me, answered all of my questions gave me tons of information to help me understand the ski equipment I was picking and make me comfortable spending over $ 1000 on new entry-​level equipment. and I have been nothing but thrilled with my equipment. they even honored a price difference when they dropped the price on the boots after I bought them. after talking to a girlfriend of mine who used to work at Evo she told me they hire experts who use and know ski equipment. I couldn’t be happier with my experience there. I will go back and I recommend you do too

I’m a former ski instructor and have always had difficulty getting boots to fit right — particularly since I have large calves. I’ve gone to a lot of custom boot fittings in my day and I have never ended up with a pair as comfortable as what I got from evo this season! I went in three times to get things right — the first time I tried on a few, liked one but wanted a stiffer version. We ordered two more boots just to make sure I was getting the one I wanted. I went back the second time to try what I ordered and neither worked. I went in the third time for a custom boot fitting — heated shell & liner molding, custom footbeds, buckle adjustments. Nick helped me along the way the whole time (2+ hours to make sure we were getting it right) and I ended up with a pair of boots with ZERO heel lift, no pinching, walking ease, no hot spots. I swear these things are slippers. Thank you for making me excited to hit the slopes again!

Nordica was slow to replace my delaminated skis under warranty. With snow on the mountain I wanted to get out ASAP. Evo refunded my original purchase without even having confirmed Nordica would replace them, got me in a nicer pair of Volkls for the same price, and refunded me money so I could buy a new wider set of ski crampons, AND mounted them for free within an hour. They could not have done more or faster, will definitely be using them again.

I’ve never written a Unilocal review before, but the fantastic service at evo motivated me to post. I recently bought a pair of ski boots at evo and received outstanding service from Chris. He spent probably an hour making sure I found the right fit, and listened carefully to my preferences (not bringing me any pink crap). I admitted to never having skied before, only snowboarded, but was treated with respect (not like some noob or outsider – it probably helped that my experienced partner was there with me, however). Turns out my ski boots were actually comfortable and I have even done some blue runs on my own now! Experiences like this boot fitting are what make customers loyal, and hopefully indicate that the company treats its employees well also. I highly recommend evo if you need ski gear. They’re not a discount retailer, but you get what you pay for!

We showed up at lunch time and realized it was going to take some time to get our daughter outfitted with a new board. Our Board Specialist () recommended a place within walking distance. We ate a delicious lunch and came back. We were given the best service… the upstairs was busy and those guys worked as a team to get us all what we needed! Oatmeal Ale from Burnside Brewery was on tap. Complimentary beer… are you kidding? NO, not kidding! Cheers to the upstairs Crew at evo!!!

Ian at Evo was amazing! My son has really wide feet, and Isn custom molded his snowboard boots to his feet. Great service! Awesome atmosphere! We won’t go anywhere else!

These guys are awesome! I went to another well know ski shop in the area, but never got treated so well as I did at evo! I have legs that are really hard to fit and Ryan worked with me for over two and a half hours to get a ski boot to fit. They created a whole new boot for me and made sure everything worked. The store is really cool and everyone is super helpful and knowledgeable. I would recommend evo to anyone looking for ski or snowboard gear.

This review is solely for the downstairs portion, specifically the ski/​snowboard jacket and pants section. I have had great experiences with skiing and snowboarding gear and accessories on their website and I hear wonderful things about the gear (and staff upstairs).
First things first. I am an full sized adult woman in my mid-​thirties. I am 5’10″ and weigh 175 pounds. I typically wear large and extra large women’s clothing — but far from obese or oddly gigantic. I’m athletic, enjoy both skiing and snowboarding, and do have hips.
I visited Evo because I was very excited to have an actual Evo store in Portland and loved an additional outdoor place to shop for my various outdoor adventures. I’m going to be getting a new snowboard sometime this season, but I went into the store looking for snowboarding pants. While I love my Arc’teryx snow pants, I was looking for a lightly insulated or a fit that accommodated a thicker base layer. Something a little less alpine fit, and I had been eyeing a few options in other brands.
Imagine my annoyance when I looked through the racks and found not a single XL snow pant, in fact I only found 3 size larges (all more «snowboard lifestyle» than mid to higher end brands). Apparently this store caters to the 5^th grade size version of myself and anyone who wears small and extra small. I know this because I was so annoyed I actually went through every single pant offering and had never seen small and xsmall so heavily stocked.
I decided to ask a woman working at the store if they actually EVER carry XL and her response was something to the effect of no, not really and that they brought it up to the company before but that they didn’t think it sells. She offered me two options — check online and order online and have it delivered to the store and they would help return whatever didn’t fit. Um. No.
Her second option was walking me over to the men’s section where she said that I should try some small and mediums in men’s sizes. What. The. Hell. That is not how it works. Men’s sizes are not the adult size versions of the clearly child size women’s pants that you sell — especially for pants. Your credibility hit zero with that comment. She handed me a couple pairs (she actually never asked what tech specs I was looking for in a pant… so the picks were extra special) and opened the dressing room for me to try them on (then promptly disappeared). I confirmed that they wouldn’t go past my knee. Women’s pants are made for hips and butt. Men’s pants are not. Since unhelpful girl disappeared I tried on a couple men’s pants, in size L and XL — again, men’s pants are not made for hips. The XL fit the hips but were gigantic everywhere else.
ALL I WANTED WERE A FEW XL WOMEN’S SNOW PANT OPTIONS.
You stock men’s XL, why not women’s? Clearly you understand that men come in all sizes. Newsflash — so do women. We also have jobs outside the home and can even vote! It’s swell!
What the hell Evo. It’s not like I’m asking you to stock gear for the plus-​sized snowboarder or XXXXL — but your overstocking of women’s XS and S and the non-​existent women’s L and XL is absurd. These are normal people sizes. Perhaps if the company people chose to regularly stock L and XL, then women who wear that size would actually come in and purchase those items rather than now have the impression that you only cater to Xsmall and small women and never come back.
Seriously disappointing. Evo you failed me.

Went in today to buy a full set of ski gear. Spent 2+ hours enjoying myself and getting lots of attention from knowledgeable and attractive staff members :). Got boots, foot beds, skis and poles from Brandon. Sean provided comedic relief. Fun crowd and beer while you wait. Will bring more business here.

I have to say, as an internet company this is really the best shop. I am from Chicago and was going to be skiing in CO for a month. I was able to order a new set of Super 7 Rossi skis and bindings for about ¹⁄₃ of what I would have paid retail. That is number one awesome, even better is that when they were arrived were still in manufacture plastic, so I was super stoked until I saw that I ordered hot pink bindings!!! OH NOOOO So stupid that I did not read the actual description and went of the picture which in hind site does look more pink than red. However I called up, spoke to customer service and they got me a set of replacements in the right color for still no more money than I originally paid. Third, due to UPS the shipment was delayed due to train derailment and I was already out in Denver due to my previous order mistake, called once again to customer service and they had shipment rerouted to my hotel on the mountain where they got what I needed the next day. I was able to go skiing for a massive 10 inch powder day! WooHoo is right. Thanks to everyone at EVO for making this happen. You guys kick A**

My new favorite place in town for snowboard gear. Chris is amazing, he helped me find the right bindings and put them on my new board 2 weeks later. Thanks guys!

This store is rad. The staff are super helpful — Chris went to so much trouble to find me a wetsuit and my girlfriend found an epic snow setup.
Highly recommend, they really went out of their way to help us.

I purchased boots, skis and bindings at Evo’s online store and had them shipped to the store on MLK. The staff was amazing. They mounted the bindings and made adjustments to my boots. Sean, Chad and Brandon were professional and knowledgable. I will be giving them more of my business

I can confirm what has been said in the 2 previous post, this is the BEST boot fitting shop in Portland (I’ve been to most of them). I ‘m kinda a gear nerd, and have worked in ski shops myself, and really look for people who actually know their stuff when I need help with new boots.
Sean at EVO totally does. They also serve free local beer on tap while they work on your boots. How great is that? And you can shop online prices/​selection on the evo website and get them shipped to you, and bring them to the store to get the liner heat molded and other work if needed. Sean spent an hour and half with me, adapting my orthodics to fit Dynafit AT boots, and heat molding the liner. He totally knows AT boots for those of you into the backcountry scene.
Free beer, super knowledgeable staff, same prices as the evo website. A winning combo in my book.

I’ve ordered from Evo online before (great selection, insane deals) and am glad they finally opened an outpost here in Portland. While they don’t have near the selection that US Outdoor Store carries, the collection here is pretty hip and they have a gallery in the back showcasing artists’ works.
Staff is friendly and laid back. If you need to stock up on anything board-​sports related (snow-​, surf-​, skate– or other) this is a decent spot to do so. They also offer some fashionable wear that matches the NW outdoors style. Not the socks-​and-​sandals kind of outdoors style, but the more refined, hip gear. Even a solid selection of Stance socks.
Major bonus for off-​street parking and solid soundtrack in the store.

Evo is an action sport store. Surf, skate, snow, bike. They started in Seattle, and do most of their business online. They have the gear, outdoor clothes for those sports, and urban streetwear.
Thankfully the neo-​flouro fad is passing. The clothing here, Fall 2014, is dark neutrals, plaid for snow. They have the requisite collection of beanies, worn in Portland year round.
Their online is vast. In-​store, you will find Rvca, Patagucci, Burton, Poler, Obey, Billabong, Coal, Roark, that type. Need a GoPro or headphones? They have.
They have a small art gallery, and they are seeking artists who are action sports participants in their spare time.
They have off-​street parking and are a great complement and minimal overlap to the other outdoor stores nearby. This neighborhood could become the new magnet for Portlanders outdoor gear shoppers who are not afraid of liquid or frozen water in their leisure athletic pursuits!
Evo started in Seattle. They have their first store there. Cool staff, friendly and excited. Second store in Portland says something.
