Overall — Dr. Case is great! His billing staff leave a lot to be desired. I’m not going back because of numerous mistakes on my bills, but he is a quality dentist — but being quoted my insurance will cover a bill, then 4 months later getting a bill for over $ 600 is not good business practice when I could have easily waited till the following year to get the crown completed so insurance WOULD cover it. real bummer!
So I chipped a crown in April of ’15 and I was looking to have it replaced. My experiences at Family Dental health were great! Dr. Case said I could do the crown in 2015 or wait until 2016 depending on what my insurance said. The billing lady said go ahead and do it now since it was covered now.
I paid the copay in advance, and the usually nice receptionist/​billing woman was kind of rude but I just brushed it off to ‘everyone has a bad day!’ and went on with it.
The next visit was my cleaning. The hygienist was nice, cleaning very fast. Again when I checked out the receptionist was just so fake and seemed condescending but I didn’t care, my interaction was minimal with her.
Then finally I got my crown. Dr. Case and his assistant were great! Again with the billing lady. She is a scourge to the practice! She is awkward and made me feel like I was walking out with out paying. Weird! When I did pay my bill, she said it was «paid in full.»
Fast forward to ¹¹⁄₁₅. I get a bill for $ 600 with no itemized detail of what its for. I call the office to see what is this for? Receptionist billing lady answers the phone and lectures me that I’m responsible for anything insurance doesn’t pay. Went over with her my understanding of ‘paid in full.” She again lectures me about owing the $ 600.
At this point, I’d rather just pay it then argue with her. She is fake, rude, and ruined my experience.

One of the best dentists I ever had and I have had a quite a few (5?) over the years due to moves. H gave clear explanations of the work and my options. He and his staff were very competent during the work. My wife and daughter also are very happy with the care. We had other Dentists we really liked, but he is the best.
If we hadn’t moved so far away, I’d drive back just for Dr. Case.

I have been trying to find an awesome dentist for a long time, and I am happy to say that this is it! I had my cleaning yesterday, and the staff was wonderful. Dr. Case is extremely thorough, taking care to answer any questions you have. My dental hygienist, Mindy was lovely and personable, also very thorough with my cleaning. My time wasn’t rushed, nor was I left waiting forever. Overall my experience was the best I could have expected. I only have good things to say.

I came here on a recommendation from my husband. He has been going to Dr. Case for 4 years. After giving birth to my Daughter, it was no longer easy to go to my old dentist.
I am so glad that he told me to start going to Family Dental Health.
Dr. Case is very detailed and through. I have NEVER had a dentist as meticulous as he is. I felt very comfortable there from my very first visit.
Mindy is the hygienist I usually see and she rocks. She always give me information about what types of products I should use, because everyone has different types of saliva. She answers any questions I have and when I leave I always have a huge smile on my face due to how clean my gums & teeth are and feel.
Everyone is very welcoming & friendly. I recommend Family Dental Health to all of my friends. Do not hesitate to go to Family Dental Health if you are searching for a new dentist. They are the BEST!

Friendly staff, high tech equipment, Dr. Case is awesome! The place is super clean & most importantly, I had zero pain & felt comfortable the whole time. It had been five years since I visited a dentist, needless to say, I was nervous. I left his office feeling good & looking forward to coming back regularly for cleanings.

(If you don’t want to read this whole thing, here is the summary– I do recommend going there for a first opinion, especially if you have one of those coupons, but go back with caution if you’re paying out of pocket).
I’ve waited a while to post this since I was rather upset the last time I visited, but some things need to be pointed out, so you’re not surprised if you, too, have no insurance.
The first time I came in, everything was very nice. Receptionists were friendly, Dr. Case was friendly, the teeth cleaning was the best– ever.
The second time, the cleaning was faster and not as gentle. Dr Case was fine. But the surprise was that although I scheduled just a cleaning, and had asked for the price in advance, I was told there was another charge — for the exam, about $ 60. I explained that this was never mentioned, and if I had known that, I would have gone somewhere else. The receptionist tried to explain that this is a normal charge to make sure my teeth were fine and dandy. Dr. Case came out and we discussed it. He asked what would be fair, and I said it would be fair to tell me this about this fee in advance and since it wasn’t mentioned to waive it. Which he did.
I returned a third time because I felt Dr. Case was doing a good job, even if maybe his staff wasn’t. He had recommended my only major filling be replaced the last two times because of x-​Ray results after my first visit. He also recommended a second filling which I said I’d take care of when I traveled overseas. He did a good job I thought fixing the filling. And it might be a great fix. Fast. Painless. Sturdy. It felt a little bit like there was something still on the molar after I left but I figured it was just the new shape of the tooth. Everything seemed fine though. No pain. The filling was expensive though. $ 268.
I went overseas and the dentist told me not to fill the second recommended filling I had saved to do there, because he said it would be invasive, and was very small. Flossing and good brushing should mitigate it for a while. He also said that the chart that I brought from Portland wasn’t accurate because I didn’t have a full set of teeth (small mouth). Not sure who was erring here, but decided to leave the tooth alone.
4^th visit: Fast forward a few more months. At airport. Tooth chips right along line of filling– where that weird new shape had been before. I scheduled an appointment and was not happy. Told the receptionist my new filling just broke off and it seems to be his fault. After inspection, was told the tooth chipped, and that this was not uncommon to happen along a new filling. Hmmm. Not uncommon? Then, shouldn’t he have done it differently? He said to just leave it alone until I wanted to put a crown on it. Or I might still need a root canal one day because the filling was not guaranteed. Flashback: I had started to question changing the filling on that third visit, because I’d had it for over 10 years without any pain. He said it was good that I did change it though because it was decaying in there. I believe him, but didn’t see it so you never know.
Ok. So I go to pay and all is well as it could be I guess. But the receptionist is not nice anymore. She gives me the bill, which is about 10– 15% higher than I was told it would be for a check up. She explains it away and I say she should have told me it would be higher, that they should always tell people without insurance what costs will be. Then she starts getting visibly irritated and snappy. She says my next appointment is scheduled and these are the costs which were nicely outlined– finally. It was going to be over $ 250 for x-​rays and a check up. I said I would be getting a cleaning overseas and that I don’t get X-​rays every year. «So you want to cancel the appointment?» Yes, I said. She was visibly upset with me. I didn’t feel happy when I left.
I don’t know why doctors — or their staff– think it’s ok to tell people the price AFTER they visit and to change the price AFTER a visit. If I did that in my work, I’d have zero clients.
I hesitate to return to this office, not because of Dr. Chase, but because of this fact (the mysterious fees), and because of his receptionist. Especially after they read this. But someone has to say it, I feel.
If you read this whole thing, I do recommend going there, especially if you have one of those coupons, but go back with caution if you’re paying out of pocket. And I’d get a second opinion for any recommended procedure from any doctor if it is invasive in any way.

Dr. Case and his staff are wonderful! After being told by my former dentist — once too often — that he ‘could make me really hot’ if I’d let him veneer my teeth, it was a wonderfully refreshing change to have Dr. Case offer options in my treatment plan.
We tell our friends and, in fact, everyone, how much we like Dr. Case and his staff. Truly a great find!

Hands down, this was the easiest filling I’ve ever experienced. Dr. Case is thorough, efficient, personable and professional. Truly appreciated in a dentist.

I’ve been coming here for 6 years and recommend Dr. Case to everyone I know looking for a great dentist. The cool thing is that we are about the same age, so I hope I will have him until we both hit retirement age! The hygienists are friendly and welcoming. This place makes you WANT to go to the dentist! :)

Instead of being lectured about not going to the dentist regularly I was given an examination, explanation, and options. Dr. Case is a nice guy and his employees are also very friendly. This office is conveniently located across the street from my work and it’s a good thing. I’m really glad I went here, even though I don’t have insurance, it was better than my other option (for so many reasons)… the free clinic!

Is it just me, or have you noticed how nearly every dental office is full of super-​friendly, super-​sweet and super-​charming employees? I want to know, what are they putting in that water? Are they «testing» the laughing gas in-​between clients?
I don’t know, but FDH is no different. Every person helping me– from the secretary to the x-​ray lady to the tooth cleaner to the dentist himself were really nice. I felt at home, despite all of that poking and prodding and scraping and bleeding (word to the wise: 6-​month checkups really are worth it).
And, is it just me, or are most dentists older parental types? Well, Dr. Case at FDH is not! I was kinda shocked, he seriously looks 30. Not a bad thing, not at all… :)
