Franz Bakery Outlet Store is a sophisticated place for an unsophisticated product. They have the Franz factory with tours available by appointment. Behind the famous spinning bread display, you can go into their outlet store which comes in the form of a convenience store. It contains Franz products such as sliced bread, pastries, and other products such as jams, sodas and Reeser’s. A backroom has some crazy deals, yet the whole store is insanely inexpensive. I visited the store after seeing the spinning bread when I was walking around. When I came in, I looked around at their wonderful selection. Ultimately, I settled on a pack of two cookies, their famous white bread and a Pibb Extra for $ 2.88. Finding all this was lots of fun, including seeing the historical markers at the top of the store. White bread is a little less interesting, but the factory makes it more. Save yourself some money on bread by shopping at Franz Bakery Outlet Store.

I’ve gone to the outlet on SE Stark every week for over a decade. I love Franz and their products but the people who work here(at the Stark store) should be friendlier. It’s like they are uptight and hate kids.

Great place for cheap bread, drinks and other munchies. Full loafs of bread for about $ 1 or sometimes even less.

I am a fan of any OUTLET!!! Bargain, bring it on… I have stopped here on the regular since I accidentally passed this location a couple months back. I am addicted to there garlic sourdough bread. This is a most definite for my homemade massive grilled cheese sandwich! They basically offer all their goods at a discounted cost!!! YAY! If you purchase more than $ 10.00 they often gift you with almost expiring bread of your choice(I gladly offer these load to my friendly neighborhood homeless). Thank you Franz…

Franz, you dangerous seductress you! Serious tho, the smell while biking along 12th Street alone will make you think about stopping in. That being said, the outlet store is a medium size shop but full of goodies, different types of breads. I usually go for things like their cinnamon raisin bread, which makes Really good french toeast,(think about it, spices are all ready in the bread, just dip in egg and fry it up; make your friends and family think you spent the whole day in the kitchen, just for them).

Delicious bargains are my favorite. We, Americans need to get over our obsession with old. Old bread included, because the day old bread at Franz is just as tasty(and dare I say soft) as any others I’ve tried elsewhere. Don’t get me wrong, stale bread sucks but I’m picky so take my word for it. Granted, you have to choose your selections wisely. There are a few shelves of things I would definately avoid but their most popular bread circulates quickly so I’m confident of my purchase freshness. Following the smell of Franz baking factory, we find their outlet store and grab a few loaves of our favorite Hazelnut bread for less than half of what we’ve paid at the grocery and throw them in the freezer for later. While we’re at it we usually grab a couple of their cinnamon bread loaves for a quick breakfast. Slap some peanut butter, nutella, or strawberry perserves and bam! there you go. Why would I pay $ 6 for a single loaf of quality fructose free bread when I can go a couple blocks from my house to get the same for $ 2? I wouldn’t and you shouldn’t be that eager to spend your hard earned money either. Check out Franz. *Beware of going during lunch time unless you want to get caught up in a wild mess of junior high students that mob that place all at once.

So I’m driving in southeast absolutely STARVING and racking my brain as to what I have in the fridge at home… hmmm…apples and pepper jack cheese… sounds like a grilled sandwhich to me. Then I realize that I have NO bread in the house. Boo. Fortuneately for me, I was near the Franz Bakery outlet in southeast(for some reason I refuse to go the grocery store for one item). The Bakery outlet is a small store and carb lovers delight. I am not atkins freak, but I am fairly particular about ingredients such as bleached flour, high frusctose corn syrup and preservatives that can be found in the average grocery store loaf. I was nervous that I might not find anything up to my picky standards in a small outlet like this. Imagine my surprise when I discovered many healthier options of breads. I chose a wheat free grain bread that in a normal grocery store would cost around $ 3.69…here at the outlet it was only $ 2! YIPEE! I also decided to throw some of my ingredient rules out the window for some treats(I know its bad the prices were so good!). I walked out with ginger snaps, chocolate cookies, my fancy wheat free bread and a huge bag of kettle chips(my fav!) for 8 bucks. Not bad, not bad at all. And you’ll be happy to know that my pepperjack and apple grilled sammy was oh so delicioso on the franz bread! The ginger snaps, although not my favorite vessel of sugar, were gingery and very snappy. Hold on, lemme try the chocolate cookies… mmmm, chewy, chocolately… just how I like my store bought cookies!
