I had beautiful, elegant, dark gothic style bouquets. H&B was professional and provided many options-they explained a lot to me as I didn’t know much about flowers. The bouquets lasted several days after the wedding and dried perfectly. It pulled our colors and theme together.

I ordered center pieces and my bridal flowers through them, and had many detailed consultations. On the day of, the flowers did not arrive until it was almost time for me to walk down the isle, and were the wrong color. We had a themed wedding based around Doctor Who, including Tardis blue, but the flowers we received were purple.

This is not my favorite flower shop. Last year I ordered Valentine’s Day flowers online for $ 60 and they were smaller and less attractive than in the picture. This year I spent $ 80 and they were dead after 3 days. The prices are just crazy for what you get. The staff was nice enough, so 2 stars, but I’d recommend going elsewhere.

Just went in today for a wedding consultation with Shira. She was very nice and accommodating to making sure we were sticking to lower costs on flowers. I walked in today having NO idea what our budget was because I’ve never really had to deal with placing large orders for flowers before… but Shira explained which flowers were most inexpensive versus ones which will cost a bit more and she was also able to customize bouquets and floral arrangements that fit within our budget. I am a bit of an bridezilla just because I want things to be what I am paying for them to be, especially because my fiancé and I are spending so much money on this wedding. She was patient to show us beautiful flowers that not only went with our theme colors, but also fit within our budget. She drew up a quote and emailed it over to me today, the same day we went in for our appointment. Wonderful, easy, stress free consultation. I really have no doubt they will hold up to being excellent on our wedding day in May. A++.

The flowers are gorgeous, but really, what flowers aren’t pretty? I appreciated the friendly service on the day we came in. Bought two mini lemon cyprus plants. The one I kept was great for the first month but seemed to develop a weird mold soon after purchasing it. I was worried about what it may have brought into my house so I had to toss it. Good rule of thumb, trust the flower shops and nurseries you purchase plants from. If the business isn’t taking care when choosing the products they sell to you, there’s no telling what bacteria, unpleasant nasties or bugs you may be bringing into your home.

you know, i see some pretty lousy reviews for Harmon’s & Barton’s from my fellow Unilocalers. but i have to say, i just don’t get it. i stopped in for a very basic order. they folks working helped me out quickly and i left with a beautiful, reasonably priced bouquet. i have no reason not to return the next time i’m in need of a bunch of flowers!

I ordered flowers for my Mom’s birthday and requested they not be in a vase, but just a bouquet of fresh spring flowers! Wowowowowowow! To all the brides out there — a simple statement — however much your fiancé tells you he cares about the flowers, it is a flat out lie. Guys simply don’t care, but because we love you so much we pretend to care about what types of arrangements we’ll have and what the colors are. If you are a groom and happen to be reading this a) congratulations on your DEEP involvement in your wedding planning and b) please go the next review and save yourself the time you will waste on this place watching football or doing other manly things. Now that I have that out of the way let me make a blanket statement about this business… I feel bad for all of the little seedlings and flowers and such that have to be produced by this place, because this business is just flat out awful. I seriously don’t know how they are in business — we badly wanted to use them, but they are completely inept, or just simply don’t care. I realize that there are«bridezillas» out there that may make it hard on vendors sometimes — but we were anything but that in the process as ridiculous as it ended up getting. Here was our experience: Drove up to Portland to meet with Rhonda and had a great hour long meeting(foreshadowing: waste of an hour) talking about what we, rather, my fiancé wanted for our wedding. Rhonda was great in person, very nice and had some great ideas. She said she would send a proposal by Tuesday of the following week. Two weeks later(which was still quite ok with us at this point) we got a proposal that was totally wrong, not what we talked about at all, and had the wrong wedding date. It took an additional 2 weeks for Rhonda to send us the right proposal, which albeit a bit long was still ok. We wanted to add a few things to it, which you would think wouldn’t be a problem, but this is when the process derailed. We went 3 weeks without a response. Voicemails and emails completely ignored. When we finally got a response it was that we would have to put a retainer down for them to provide another quote. What? In what business world does it make sense to put a retainer down on something when you don’t have all the details? But ok, probably a bad decision on our end, but we left Rhonda a voicemail and sent an email confirming we were ok with putting a retainer down to move forward. Another full 2 weeks later, and no response again — so we are literally spending $ 1k more on flowers to NOT work with them given the abhorrent lack of customer service, which unfortunately is not in bloom here.

Truly, a disappointing experience on Valentine’s Day. Son ordered flowers for me, and they never were delivered. This was even after a call from Harmon’s asking if I would be home! Never came the following day. I called and asked them not to bother and to credit my son the amount they had charged him. Something is terribly amiss with this business and will never use them again!

I tried unsuccessfully to get quotes from this business and they had really unfortunate customer service. They never got back to me when they said they would, I never actually received a quote from them and while I understand that the wedding business and season is really hectic and my wedding was off season(in December), I still felt like I could have received some answers faster. I had heard such good things about this place, but I was really disappointed.

Great job on an arrangement of spring flowers for my grandmother, who is staying in a hospital in Portland. As I don’t live in Maine, I had no idea where to turn for flowers and none of the florists on Unilocal seemed to have good reviews, so I want to make sure Harmons and Bartons gets one! I wanted something simple and not cheesy(i.e. no balloons, teddy bears, or baby’s breath), and they put together a lovely bouquet of daffodils and yellow tulips in a basic but classic glass vase. My grandmother loved it and sent me a picture and it’s exactly what I had in mind. Also, the person I spoke to on the phone when I placed my order was helpful and personable and the same-day delivery was quick and seamless. I would definitely call on H & B again. Thanks!
