I have lived in an HPM-managed building(The Chapman) for over three years now. I think the management, in general, is very responsive and kind. It is still reasonably priced for the neighborhood. My rent has been raised several times in the three years, but never by more than $ 50 in one time. which I really appreciate. I have heard horror stories about rent raises $ 300 or more in one swoop. The kitchen sink and toilet in my apartment are super old, and very hard to get clean. But, it does have it’s vintage charm. I recommend the management company to friends who are on the hunt.

Boosting stars? I’m skeptical of Steve S’s one and only review. Minimal detail, signed up specifically to review HPM — doubtful. Nice try corporate. Update: REGULARWATERSHUTOFFS! 3 – 4 times a month this company does an entire building, entire DAY water shut-off at Brown. They always have an excuse — maintenance or scheduled test etc but I believe it’s to save on $$$ because the building is so old the piping isn’t partitioned and therefore they cannot charge individual water usage to residents. Same take-away message: terrible company, terrible management.

I’m so glad this management company exists. As someone who didn’t know anything about Portland when relocating– Julie at HPM helped me out a ton. Unlike other management company’s in town, they don’t pressure you into signing a lease immediately. Julie went out of her way to get pictures of the specific unit I was interested in and even gave me pointers on the area of town the building’s in. HMP offers month-to-month leases, online rent-pay by credit/debit card and a waiting list for those who are interesting in moving to a bigger/smaller unit. In particular, The Winona on NW Johnson St. is a darling place. My unit was clean when I moved-in and all was in good condition. I’ve got quiet neighbors and enough room to live comfortably in my studio which about about 450 sf. Sure, rents a little high– but, really that’s just the NW. I can’t blame it on Heritage. If all of their properties are like the one I live in– I would, hands-down, recommend this company anytime.

Yay! First reviewer! I gotta say, after having to deal with Capital Property Management(there was mold literally growing all across my living room and kitchen walls, which they knew was a problem but covered it up, among other things), Heritage Property Management was a breath of fresh air. I absolutely LOVE Monica. She was like a second mom to me. One of the kindest people I’ve ever met. I lived on her property for about 2 years(maybe more) off Hawthorne. The maintenance was usually really swift about things, and she even fed my fish while I was away. I know this review is supposed to be about the company, but the people ARE what make the company, right? People are always pleasantly surprised when I gush about my landlord and use«love» in the same sentence. I kid you not, I not only miss my old apartment to death, but I miss being able to call, email, and/or walk downstairs and just have a cup of coffee and chat to her. I never worried about anything happening to my place or my car while I was there(even though something happened that was out of anyone’s control, but Monica remedied as best as she could). It’s difficult to meet honest landlords, property management companies, etc… so if you’re looking to rent a place, use Heritage Property Management. I guarantee you will not regret it!
