Nice, unassuming place to chill and grab some lunch and bubble tea. Not a big fan of the bento. You can get better teriyaki elsewhere and cheaper. The chocolate chip cookies are really yummy and while the boba is not the best in Portland, it is better than most. Definitely the best Thai bubble tea you’ll find in the downtown area.

The fried rice with Chinese sausage and shrimp was very good and the portion is generous. The matcha slushy with boba was delicious as was the honeydew. Their customer service was wonderful and were patient as I read their menu. As a legally blind person they treated me well and when I am in Portland again I will definitely come here to eat.

I come here maybe once a month for lunch. I work a few blocks away so it’s easy to get to. I usually order the Chicken Teriyaki Bento. Not really sure what makes it «Bento» though. You get rice, broccoli and chicken with some teriyaki sauce. I do add more teriyaki sauce as it does not come with much. I have also ordered sandwiches and their Udon soup. All selections that I have had are good, not the best but good, especially for the price. Friendly service and fast.

Honey’s is one of the best places to get bento. They have a variety to choose from, plus they serve smoothies, sandwiches and pastries. My favorite item to get is the chicken teriyaki bento with broccoli and rice. The food is always fresh and the portions are more than enough for the reasonable price. The staff is friendly and the service is quick. It is definitely one of my favorite spots to get lunch in downtown Portland.

YES! MILKTEA! FINALLY! I was craving some milk tea, which is really just not something you should bring with you when you go to a town that is not predominantly Asian. I grabbed myself two, which were perfectly priced and were exactly what I needed. Not amazing, of course — just about the same quality as I’d get from Quickly — but the people here are kind. If I had stayed in Portland longer, I probably would have found myself here more often than not. It’s the one place that wasn’t overly pretending-to-be-Asian, mainly because the owners were actually Asian but probably not the Asian you’d expect, which meant that it looked like an Asian café in the fact that a lot of old printed out signs of new specials from months ago are still hung up on the wall. That was weirdly comforting to me. If I lived nearby for whatever reason, I’d probably just be here all the time for the comfort aspect and the fact that they had decently priced, decently flavored milk tea, and an excellent assortment of bentos from the menu.

The thing that sets Honey’s Café apart is the down-to-earth manner in which you are greeted as you walk through the door and prepare to order from their menu of Chinese and Japanese items. I did not feel rushed to make my order and ended up ordering one of their breakfast sandwiches(croissant, egg, sausage, and swiss cheese). It was made fresh to order and very tasty. The restaurant is nice and clean. I did ask for some ketchup, and it was in a bottle turned upside down to get that last drop out. I think the nice young woman at the counter was embarrassed by this, but I was not. I think many of us identify with trying to save money and use things up(just like our parents taught us), and I told her I did the very same thing at home, and we had a nice laugh together. It was the easygoing and home-like quality of this interaction that made me feel like this would be a great neighborhood haunt and a place I would always feel welcome. The location is great, right in between PSU and PAM, and one can feel perfectly comfortable sitting, eating, and watching the world drift by before setting out to see what the day holds in store. Prices are very reasonable, so I look forward to trying some of the Japanese and Chinese dishes soon.

This is one of my places to hide away from campus. It is a little off campus but definitely worth walking to when I had time between classes. Salmon bento with taro bubble tea is my go to order. The service was quick and always friendly even when lines were going out the door. The best part was food tasted fresh! I feel like sometimes bento can taste like it’s been sitting. But it’s never like that here.

I finally went to honeys for lunch… I got the salmon bento for lunch. It was simply prepared but fresh and tasty, and for a great price. The bubble tea isn’t what I’m used to from Taiwan or New York, but still not bad

Great little place on the corner. Nice fusion of American and Asian food. Got honeydew boba and a sub. Solid flavor and a clean place that gives off a hole in the wall vibe without being shabby. Would absolutely come back.

Friendly service. I loved the won ton soup – it tasted home-made – fresh and delicious. Good coffee, as well, so I’m a happy camper.

Popped in here for to warm up after a rainy day visit to the art museum next door. Ordered a hot thai tea and the featured bowl of miso soup, good pricing and friendly service. I liked how small but organized the little restaurant was, and they have a lot of diversity on their menu– wish I’d read a little more before making my selection, as the won ton soup sounded even better. Received drink and soup quite quickly. Tea was very hot and needed to cool until I could enjoy it, but the lightly spiced, sweet taste was spot on and just what I needed to perk me up. Wish the hot version was served more places. Soup was served with a plastic version of the traditional Asian bowl-spoon, which I loved and took with me. Now I want to buy them in bulk to use at home. In any case, the simple miso really hit the spot– not as much seaweed as in other versions, but that was more than compensated with the plentiful amount of tofu(see pictures).

I’ve been going to Honeys for about 20 years now. Back when it was up on Broadway. Absolute love the food. The owner and her daughter are so kind and considerate they still know my regular order even when I don’t come in for years. Yeah, sometimes the odor of cleaning products can be smelled but I’d rather know the place is spotless than wonder about how long that chicken has been stored or whether or not the walk in has four, six or eight legged tenants. If ONLY they were open until 5. I’d probably be there at least once a week if they were. Until then, it’s only once or twice a year.

Came here before leaving on the train, very quick and delicious! Ordered something not on the menu(egg fried rice) with no problem! Definitely recommend!

Honey’s is a wonderful little treasure in the ground floor of the Saint James apartment building. It’s usually got a nice little crowd of people inside, and for good reason. The food is nice and fresh and tasty, and the place is always sparkling clean. They serve a nice little variety of sandwiches, noodles, and bento; my favorite is definitely the salmon bento which comes with rice, fish, steamed vegetables, sweet sauce, and capers. You can get hot tea or coffee, or pick a chilled soft drink from the refrigerators. Some people have complained about the smell of cleaning products, which I have never really noticed.

They primarily cater to the business crowd, so they open early and close at 4. First and foremost a coffee shop, they also sell bento for lunch-seekers at good prices. And very fortunately, the service is amazing. I ordered the chicken yakisoba(more on this in a second) and I had my food within 3 minutes, steaming hot off the grill. Unfortunately, however, the flavor of the soba was lacking. Where was the seasoning? There were plenty of vegetables and lots of chicken, but good service does not excuse bland food.

Time for an update on Honey’s we were in the hood yesterday and stopped by to get some dinner to go. I think it has been 2 years since we last made it here during the week. The first thing that hit me when we walked in was the SMELL, my god how anyone can stand to eat with that smell, it was very strong smelled like Lysol or something equally disgusting. I managed to get past it long enough to place my order. I am dropping a star because that smell was fucking terrible with a capitol T. I must say that the homemade Pork Potstickers were amazingly good and their Fried Rice is my all time favorite, so authentic with peas and Chinese sausage, YUM

Who knew this little inconspicuous mom and pop shop could make such tasty food. I have gone to Honey’s about 5 times now since it is right near my Streetcar stop and each time I have enjoyed my meal or coffee. The Good 1. Convenient location 2. Staff is very friendly 3. Nice Bento Menu 4. Coffee is good 5. Excellent Prices 6. Fast service(lunch time can be a little busy though) When I first started going here, I just got coffee. Then I decided to try a lunch. I like their chicken teriyaki bento. The flavor of the chicken is good and the broccoli tastes nice and fresh, not all wilted out like some I have had at other café’s. The sauce is nice too, ask for extra. The fried rice is probably my favorite(has shrimp, chinese sausage, veggies, and tasty scallions), affordable and flavorful. I wish I had tried this place sooner, it would have saved me a lot of $$ in bad meals from food carts. YAYHONEY’s and YAY small businesses. It’s nice to not have to feed the Starbucks machine.
