Service, food and the place is great! Definitely a bit pricey! I wouldn’t recommend Hot Suppa if you are on a low budget for breakfast.

SOOOOOOOOOOGOOD! Their specialty here is southern comfort food and they do it well! My husband and I really wanted to check this place out after reading all of the great reviews so we were willing to deal with the 35 – 40 minute wait for a table. Lucky for us, something at the bar came up and we were seated within 20 minutes. First let me tell you the Bloody Mary’s are LEGIT! Probably one of the best I’ve ever had, seriously. Nice and spicy, original garnish and the perfect amount of alcohol. Heaven in a glass. We literally tried everything everyone recommended in their reviews and we were not disappointed! My husband had the corn beef hash, hash browns and fried green tomatoes and I had the eggs benedict with fried green tomatoes and grits. I enjoyed every single bite. Grits were cooked and seasoned to perfection, and the fried green tomatoes were out of this world… we literally clean both of our plates! A bit pricey for breakfast IMO, but definitely worth a visit!

As someone said in a review of this place, I wish I could live inside this place! Though it is most famous for it’s breakfast/brunch the name says it all with suppa! It’s true, the breakfasts are divine, from the hash browns to the hash to the eggs benedict, it is all well made, beautiful and most importantly, delicious. But it is the dinners that stand out in my mind. That and the $ 1 oyster specials during happy hour. I hesitate to mention this as it might get more crowded but it is just too good a deal to pass up. We went on a couple wine tasting tours that stopped there and we were given a small bite to go with the wine. The first time we went we had the monkfish and it was among the best I’ve had and monkfish is among my favorite seafoods. There is always a special and that is usually what I will go for. They are meticulous in their attention to detail in their food and it really shows, each item is crafted perfectly. So grab a seat if you are lucky, or sit at the bar; you really can’t go wrong at this place.

LOVE this place. The food is so great, and the bloody mary unbelievable. Get there early or be prepared to wait, the place is tiny. Food doesn’t get any better than this. Awesome, just awesome.

Good food of you eat meat and dairy. Not many option otherwise. Service is OK. Not much seat of so the wait can be long for brunch.

This place is so good, I recommend shopping off the board for your meal, their specials are usually awesome. I had a halibut over cheddar grits special that I still daydream about. Make sure you get the fried green tomatoes too. Fantastic place for brunch too as long as you aren’t bringing an entourage with you.

This is the second time that we go here while our time in Portland, ME. I rely heavily on the reviews posted by our Unilocalers to guide my food choices. The first time I went — I had the Taco Burrito Breakfast. It was delicious. I know flavors — coming from the diverse palled of cultural foodie upbringing. This time around, I had an omelette with a a spinach in a garlic sauce. The hash is so yummy here. Really fresh. My friend had the chicken and waffle. I got to try it, another super yummy choice. Honestly, everything we had was pretty amazing. The wait can be long sometimes — but totally worth it. You should check it out for sure. Staff was also super pleasant.

This is based upon my family’s experience, as I was unable to stay & eat as our represented 40-minute wait — on a Wednesday mid-morning — turned into an hour and there were still two groups ahead of us to be seated. That said, they stated the food was awesome. Maybe I’ll block off half a day for brunch soon.

Yup, just yup. Really amazing classic food. Craig got the grilled cheese and tomato soup and it hit the spot! So, so tasty! I had the fried green tomato BLT and my goodness, it was so much better than I expected. Obviously, I thought it would be good otherwise I wouldn’t have ordered it, but man it was good. Limited experience because we didn’t get apps, desserts, or drinks. Sorry, lame day for us! But it was awesome, head in, fo sho!

Super popular and for good reason. They’ve creative drinks and eats. Think local hangout and hangover breakfast mentality with a tad creativity on menu. Maple lemonade is what sold me!

My wife picked out the lunch spot today with promises of fried chicken, po boys, and other southern food. Their menu wasn’t exactly what I had in mind, but we weren’t disappointed. I had a double cheeseburger that came with pickles and grilled onion. I didn’t even need condiments which is incredibly rare for me. Burger was perfectly cooked and juicy on a soft roll. We split some fries that were also very good. My wife had a tuna sandwich that was lightly seasoned with lemon juice and capers, she thought it was OK but wasn’t raving about it. She did have a nice and spicy Bloody Mary while I went with a Harpoon IPA. Overall, a very good lunch, and reasonably priced.

Epic breakfast. Went with the classic breakfast sandwich and was NOT disappointed If you love hash browns… This is the spot for you! Make sure you do the add ons! I put on the grilled onions, cheese and tomatoes and seemed to be more focused on my HB’s than my main course! I cannot wait to go back!!!

The eggs benedict here is the best I have ever had. I got it with the pulled pork and a side of hash browns. Everything was perfectly cooked and they did something a little different with seasoning the hash browns that made them taste phenomenal in my opinion. I physically could not stop eating it was that good, and I am pretty sure I was full about half way through. Part of me wishes I could stomach the the idea of drinking tomato juice to try their raved about bloody marys, but I will just let other reviewers tell you all about them. Also, being from the relative south(nobody in the south considers my part of Florida southern) their maple sweet tea comes the closest I have found to actually being sweet which was a nice treat. I was fortunate to not have to wait to be seated, but I would in order to eat here again.

I hate waiting just to get a table, but this place is an exception to my rule. This place is fantastic. Great Bloody Marys, fantastic breakfast, and a good deal with oysters when it comes time for happy hour. The food and drink creations are amazing. The Corn Beef Hash is my go-to here, although the Fried Green Tomatoes Benedict is a close 2nd. They also have many different daily specials, so each day is a new treat. Hot Suppa! also does a great job with Grits… definitely worth a try here. The wide selection of hot sauces is also a treat. And during happy hour, I had a delicious Bourbon drink. I can’t recall the name, but it’s amazing. They blend two different bourbons and add more to this great creation. And after having spent a summer in Kentucky, I can say this drink is spot on with any Bourbon drink you will find in Bourbon County. This place specializes in great southern cooking. Rumor has it these guys traveled all around the South, gathering recipes for this fine establishment. After my summer in Kentucky, and 5 years in Tennessee as a little kid, I’d say this food is spot on with fine southern cooking. This is a must-go spot in Portland. It’s always worth the wait. PS, this is one of the only few places in Maine you’ll fine biscuits and gravy and real sweet tea… extremely common in the South but very rare here…

Say out back. Only a few tables. Was sunny as anything but the umbrellas held strong. Food was awesome, drinks were delicious, wait was way shorter than they told us, which is always a bonus. If you’re looking for breakfast in Portland, look no further.

Just call me Kathy Bates because I LOVE me some fried green tomatoes! Something about that wonderful crispy/juicy texture and savory/tangy flavor just gets me every time. Lucky for me Hot Suppa seems to agree. My gal Steff D swears by the eggs Benedict with a FGT addition but on my trip there I wasn’t so much in the Benedict mood so I just got an order on the side. It was by far the most memorable part of my breakfast! One glance at the menu and I could tell that this is a wonderful place to go when you’re open to indulging. We’re talking huge Bloody Marys chock full of veggie goodies, loaded hash browns, waffles, biscuits smothered in gravy — you get the idea. But not to worry if you’re feeling like something lighter. They also have things like local porridge, oatmeal, and granola. The place was packed to the brim even on a snowy weekday morning, and I know a place has to be good if the good people of Maine are willing to head out of their cozy caves in the dead of winter. I can’t wait to go back sometime soon!

Second time in Maine and second time back to Hot Suppa. After two brunches and a dinner here I can safely say this place is awesome. The atmosphere here is very chill and just makes you feel at home, and the walls are full of local featured artists. The eggs benedict are delicious and if you add the pulled pork, you guessed it, doubly delicious, and it comes with a side of grits and cut up fruit I don’t remember the details of our dinner or brunch here during our first trip to Maine, but I remember it was good enough to make us want to come back here for more. A must stop if visiting Portland.

Oh Sweet Baby JuJu this place is amazing!!! We went here today for brunch for my Hubby’s birthday. We didn’t realize how small the restaurant is but we were still met with only a short wait of about 25 min. My hubby ordered the biscuits and gravy with sunny side eggs. He said it was really good and the biscuits were so tasty and moist. I started with a cup of the Creamy Tomato soup. It was one of the best soups I have had. It wasn’t too acidic or too creamy; the balance was perfect. For my meal I ordered the Fried Green Tomato Eggs Benedict with hasbrowns(I added caramelized onions). It was BYFAR-HANDSDOWN-THEBEST breakfast I have ever had!!! The balance of everything was perfect. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the satiny yolk mixed with the creamy hollandaise, on top of the crunchy acidic FGTs and on top of a soft buttered English muffin made the perfect bite! The service was prompt and friendly.

I was a bit reluctant to go here after reading about how small it is and the long waits, but after schlepping to Marcy’s Diner and finding it closed for vacation, off we went to Hot Suppa! We were told a half hour wait on a Saturday in February, but it was definitely less than that. Cool atmosphere and friendly service. The local art in the walls is a nice touch and they don’t make you wait long for your food after waiting in the entry for a table. My maple latte and breakfast burrito were delicious and I kept stealing bites of the Winter Hash my husband got. It was really good! I wouldn’t hesitate to come back here again if I was in Portland.
