I eat brunch here at least once every weekend. It has about the best vegetarian breakfast menu in… well, anywhere. The gravy is default vegetarian as is the sausage.

TIP: When brunching here, try to arrive early. The line becomes a 45+ minute wait after 10:30AM. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – Really enjoyed brunch here the other week. Met up with some friends early-ish on a Sunday morning(9AM) and we waited just 5 minutes for a table for 4. Server was really sweet, and offered to take drink orders right away. We opted for coffee, which was surprisingly really yummy. I don’t know if it was Stumptown coffee or not, but it was pretty good. We put in our orders a few minutes later, and I ordered the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. Also, kudos to Jam for having a wide array of veggie options for my partner to choose from! Eating pancakes and/or waffles gets tiresome when there are no veggie options. Food was awesome! I loved my Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, definitely worth trying if it’s your first time. They’re very soft and moist, and the syrup sealed the deal. Overall, 5 stars. One of the best brunch spots in Portland, in my opinion.

I like this place! I had a gluten-free Belgian waffle«with the works» and a lavender mimosa. Everything was great and the staff was really nice and attentive. Will be back.

First let’s talk about the MIMOSABUCKET!!! So many tasty flavors to choose from, my girlfriend’s and I ordered peach and orange. So delish… I also had the Spicoli Scrambler which had the perfect amount of spice to it. Overall our brunch was great. The only thing I didn’t like was they don’t split checks. When eating out with a big group and not being able to split the bill can be challenging.

Visiting Portland our hosts brought us here for brunch. The wait was long but we did have a party of 6 so that helped! They have coffee and a full bar that we took full advantage of. We got the bar tender recommend bloody Mary with garlic infused vodka and it was definitely delicious. We got the Bertha size to share but ended up ordering 2 they were so good! The food was good too! Friendly service and attentive bus boys! Overall good experience!

Came to Jam on Hawthorne due to a friend’s recommendation who lives in Portland. I was pleasantly surprised by the space, it’s huge and the ambiance is excellent. Since I was going on a Tuesday morning the restaurant was busy but not overly busy. I was seated at the bar and the barman was friendly and quick to serve. I ordered their Ginger infused whiskey Hot Toddy type of drink off the specials board and Eggs Florentine with crispy hash browns. The drink was great but if you don’t like strong cinnamon or spice flavor it would probably be off putting. After walking around in the cold rain without properly preparing for the weather during my Portland trip, the Hot Toddy was a warm welcoming treat for me since I love tea, honey, and ginger. While I sat and read my book waiting for food I really took in the place and decided to also research things to do in Portland based on my friend’s recs. I wish I’d brought proper shoes and raincoat! Rookie mistake. When my eggs florentine arrived I was surprised to see a whitish looking hollandaise sauce and excellent looking crispy hash done to perfection. The eggs were NOT poached well when I cut into them they were both overdone. I was pretty disappointed about this and since both were over would recommend that you stick to ordering their scrambles and hashes since they were ordered frequently and seemed the most popular. This is sad though since the hollandaise was out of this world good. Silky and extremely buttery but flavorful. I could feel the cholesterol building up in my coronary arteries. It was a generous amount as well and made up for the poorly poached eggs. Overall: Average brunch experience but if I move to Portland I would come back again for drinks and other brunch menu items.

We came around 11am and the waitlist was 3 pages long! I put my name down, but stood by the bar. Luckily, we snagged some seats at the bar after about 40 minutes. Someone sits down shortly after us and the bartenders obviously knew the guy because they were chatty with him. We waited about 10 minutes before we can order AND we were sitting there with our menus closed and arms folded. 20 minutes later, our food comes out. Eggs are perfectly yolky and the hash browns are flawlessly brown. Their house made jam is delicious! I also love their variety of mimosa flavors and that they have an option for you to order the big mason jar type. That was enough to get you on a good buzz. LOVETHEIRMIMOSAANDFOOD! Their service is the reason I didn’t give it 5 stars. Their servers move painfully slow and their kitchen is slow. The place is a decent space and the turnaround of tables isn’t quick enough. Maybe they need more staff or something. I’ve been to busy restaurants and I’ve seen the people hustle. Regardless of their slow service, their staff are very friendly. IMO, this place isn’t worth a hour wait for another visit, but definitely a must try while you’re in Portland.

Jam is alright but nothing special. Food is good and semi, sorta… barely locally sourced and organic. A little overpriced for what it is. Hey, they do have a great vegan/vegetarian selection. Service always sucks no matter how busy they are. The staff is always friendlyish but oh so painfully slow! Soda is always flat and coffee is always burnt. And the jam, well, it’s just jam. It’s just a diner.

The food was not bad, fresh ingredients and good taste. I enjoyed my pesto. Not much taste in the oats, but that’s just oats. The place has a playground for kids so it’s not a quite breakfast

Our last meal in Portland! We came here because it’s my friend’s birthday and this is her favorite breakfast place in Portland. The food was great-get toast so you can eat the jam. I’ve never had such good jam. What really made this place great for us was our server, Jason. Jason was super funny in a really deadpan way. I was not caffeinated and could not make decisions and let Jason pick my breakfast for me. I don’t know what I had but it was spicy and had eggs. It was delicious. The hash browns were delicious. I always thought Sweet E’s in Honolulu had the best hash browns but they just lost their title to Jam. Thanks Jam for a great last breakfast while on our vacation!

Boyfriend and I always end up here for a late brunch. Stalk out a seat at the bar, today so we could watch the Seahawks game. Their corned beef hash is the best I’ve had in town. Huge, delicious chunks of corned beef. Portions here are good for the price. We always have leftovers. Seems around 2 they turn up the music for the last hour– usually rap & hip hop. Just an FYI if you were going to bring your grandmother here for a late brunch and she’s not into that.

Hawthorne is the kinda brunch place you see«Friends» go to. Hey, it’s not new york, however the Rachel’s that serve you bottomless coffee are so damn nice. Portions are ridiculously big, it makes me think, «damn, this is what makes America obese. Have we heard of vegetables… only if they are bacon wrapped.» I got the fluffy pancakes with chicken sausage on the side. I was able to finished half was more than satisfied. My friends got the french toast, and an omelet, which were might tasty as well. Great option if you are staying in the area, there are many great shops on the Hawthorne as well if you feel like strolling after the hefty portions.

Good hearty food, chill atmosphere and wonderful staff who are nice but not pushy. First time trying this place and I’m impressed. The vegetarian gravy here is beyond amazing! I’ve had many versions and this is by far my favorite. Thanks Jam, we’ll be seeing you soon!

I’ve been here a couple times for breakfast/brunch and it’s always so so good! The portions are big and I enjoy eating my leftovers from here. They had some fall specials and we tried the Pear Jam-pagne. It was delicious. Light and bubbly and sweet. The service here is always great. Jason served us and he was an absolute delight. I live out past Gresham but it’s always worth the drive to come out here when I’m craving breakfast!

5 stars for the BEST mimosa I’ve ever had! Whatever you do, you absolutely must order a lavender mimosa. No joke — it’s easily one of the best things to ever cross my lips. A girlfriend of mine took me here for my birthday brunch while I was visiting Portland and she couldn’t have picked a better place. Definitely worth the wait! The menu is very extensive and caters to every dietary preference imaginable. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free folks will be just as pleased as their carnivorous and gluten eating counterparts. I ordered the Bella’s Sunrise, which was tasty but incredibly sauce-heavy. Good to try but probably wouldn’t order it again. It seemed like a healthier version of eggs Benedict, which is what my friend ordered. She was very pleased with the Florentine Benedict and her lavender lemonade. We also shared a single Chai Oatmeal Pankcake, which was absolutely mind blowing. Very unique flavors that go really well with their signature Jam. Definitely a must! Next time I’m in town I’m going to get a full stack of Chai pancakes and a giant lavender mimosa. I can hardly wait! The atmosphere was funky and casual, and the service was excellent. I wish I could remember our servers name, but he was super sweet and comped our drinks for my birthday. Such a treat!

While visiting Portland, our hosts recommended Jam on Hawthorne as a good brunch option. So we went on a hungry Sunday around noon with an open mind… «Good brunch option» doesn’t even begin to cover it! Location/Atmosphere: 4⁄5. Nice location on Hawthorne. The vibe inside was not-quite casual, but definitely laid back and eclectic. Even though the restaurant was crowded, it didn’t seem particularly loud. My only critique is that it was a little confusing at first to figure out how to get a table, since there are several entrances. Service: 3⁄5. The wait was not terrible for a Sunday at noon – less than 30 minutes. However, once we were seated we waited over 10 minutes before anyone to even looked at our table. I understand that Sunday is prime brunch day, but it did seem to be an oversight. I don’t think our server knew she was assigned to our table… Once she did arrive to take our orders, the rest of the service was prompt and kind. Her recommendations were excellent, as well. Food: 5⁄5. I got a wrap called«The Other One»…It was the most perfect breakfast sandwich I’ve ever tasted. The hash browns were just the right amount of buttery and salty. The portion size was quite large, and about halfway through my meal I was stuffed… But I HAD to finish, it was just that good! If I had lived in the neighborhood, I’d probably make a habit of visiting at least once a week to have such an amazing breakfast. Overall: If I’m ever in Portland again, this is number one on the list of places I’ll head to!

I had a couple of friends in town and we love to brunch. We picked out Jam because of the large menu, mimosas, and the fact that they were kid friendly. We arrived around 11 on a Wednesday morning and there was a small wait, maybe 10 minutes. The place is super cute on the inside and pretty large. We were seated in a booth in the front and they immediately catered to my 2 year old. She had her own little plastic place setting and a cool, unique sippy cup. They have different flavors of mimosas which is always a plus in my book but we decided to go with the bottle of champagne and the carafe of regular orange juice, which was a steal since the 3 of us would be sharing. I’m not a huge fan of orange juice but OMG their OJ is amazing. This was easily the best regular mimosa I’ve ever tasted(and I’ve had my share). We ended up going through 2 carafes of OJ because it was just so good. We placed our orders and I took the little one to the toy area. The toy area is up on a little raised platform with traffic cones surrounding it. There’s a little bench next to it so you can sit while your little one plays. There are a ton of toys, ranging from baby toys to a little kitchen. It was a great way to pass the time, I only wish we were seated next to it so I could have enjoyed being at the table a little more. I had the Ed’s plate scramble, spinach, mushrooms, roasted garlic, and cheddar. You can’t really go wrong. The scramble was delicious and the hash browns were cooked perfectly. I also got an English Muffin, which I always appreciate in place of toast. One of my friend’s ordered the Southwest Waffle and OMG it was so good. I’m definitely getting that next time! The savory cornmeal waffle worked perfectly with the black beans and cheese. I was worried it would still be a tiny bit sweet, but it was not. What a perfect dish! I was also lucky enough to try the Maddie Cakes. The lemon really came through and they were smothered in a delicious blueberry compote. I will definitely be back to Jam on Hawthorne. The service was on point, the food is so delicious, and they actually cater to kids! I’m excited at the prospect of letting the little one play and having an actual conversation at the table! I’ll be getting a mimosa and the Southwest waffle next time and I think you should too.

We wanted to try this place because my wife wanted to try it. She heard a lot of good things about it. Good thing for us when we got there on a Monday morning there wasn’t a big line. We put our name down and sat for a few minutes. We saw there was still maybe five tables ahead of us. We waited and saw a good number of tables open but no one was seated. The wait was kinda silly considering this fact but it could be because they were short staffed. Onto the food. One buddy has the tommy’s joint. He thought it was really good. Tons of flavour. My wife had the famous corned beef hash which she was disappointed in. She’s had better. I had a taste of it too and was not wowed. I had tys big breakfast which was good. Unfortunately my eggs I requested over easy but got them over hard. I like my eggs runny so it mixes with the gravy. I told my server this and to my surprise she brought me an entire new plate of the same thing. I did not expect that and when I said I only expected new eggs. To her response she said the chefs felt bad. So I was very happy to see that customer service is high on their list. Only thing I would change about mine was maybe a little more salt but other than that it was delicious. Because of the wait and the not so great corned beef hash. I give this a 4⁄5

Okay so let me start off by saying the LAVENDERMIMOSASCHANGEDMYLIFE. This breakfast joint was crazy busy but well worth the wait. My friends took me here and we only had to wait 10 minutes but I’ve heard stories of 40 minutes or longer. Got the corned beef hash, friends got the blueberry chai pancakes and some omelette. Don’t remember the name, sorry. I was tipsy before we got our food because of how good my cocktail was. Just a heads up in case that had to do with how much I enjoyed everything. Highly doubt it, my corned beef hash was perfectly cooked. Tender with some crispness and not bland. The hash browns were moist and crispy. Our server was hilarious. He was the perfect amount of hipster and funny aha. Can’t wait to come back.

I might be in a minority here for leaving a 3* review considering most of the other reviews are either 4 or 5*. The reason for 3* is not just for the long wait time. The food which mainly consists of breakfast items like omelette, hash browns, pancakes and waffles are nothing out of the ordinary. I ordered the downtown omelette which was ok and the lemon ricotta pancakes were ordinary. The French toast was definitely good and so was the sassymary. The bloody Mary was not so good as other reviews suggest though with the homemade bloody Mary mix tasting similar to tomato juice. Try the bloody Mary at day Tasty N Alders and compare. Overall a good breakfast place but not worth the wait time especially since SE Portland has myriad of choices for brunch or breakfast.
