I’m from California traveling on business. First time coming here. All I have to say is. I ordered Joe’s Classic Cheese Burger and the meat is paper thin. The lettuce was thicker than the meat. I have had better burgers at Carls Jr. Not impressed at all. Fries were okay…

Pretty good burgers, alright price. It’s about as good as fast food, although the ingredients are noticeably fresher. The fries are horribly oversalted to the point of being inedible, but the environment is interesting and the burgers are, as aforementioned, not half bad. I might come here again if I was in the area.

You call that chili??? I was starving! Walked through the door and the restaurant was chaos. Chairs all askew dirty tables as far as the eye can see. Never mind the appearance I was hungry. Originally I came for a burger. Should have stuck with it but I’m a sucker for a chili cheese dog when I find one on the menu. I ordered one and a side of tater tots. Got my meal within a reasonable amount of time but when I had a look at my chili cheese dog I wondered why there were refried beans on it!!! Their chili looks like refried beans! It is pale compared to every chili I’ve ever seen in my 40+ years of existence. It didn’t taste like beans and it sure didn’t taste like chili. I scraped most of it off onto a napkin and tried to salvage what I could. Never mind I also have tots. Well sort of if you like tots that taste like they were cooked in old grease! This meal was gross and the restaurant was disorganized; as I said earlier chaotic. It wasn’t full. Maybe everybody made a beeline for the door two minutes before I got there. Either way I won’t eat here again and I recommend you don’t either.

First visit, not impressed. Second visit tried the chili cheese burger. It’s basically 7⁄11 chili on the same burger. No flavor other than the over powering taste of ketchup as they use too much. Won’t go back again. McDonald’s is better than this place.

I went during Happy Hour and this was my first time going. The prices were okay but the burger was very middle of the road, the same with the fries and the soda cups were small for 1.50. I honestly prob won’t go back and head around the corner to another burger joint. The Ranch was good though…

I wish I would have gone for happy hour. Better prices and you get fries. I had the small hamburger and it wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t great. Some of that could be because I’m not all that partial to their special sauce(1000 island) but it would have been better with fries and it just wasn’t terrific. The service was good and the place seemed clean. The line was fast and I got my food in a timely manner. I’ll probably try them once for happy hour just to see if it makes it better. and see if they have mayo and mustard.

Ok, two visits and I’m sold! This place is great. The service is quick, the restaurant is clean, the music is spot on and the staff are great. I e read through some previous low reviews and it seems management has read them and made appropriate changes, like utensils and salt/pepper available at the counter :) First visit I wasn’t feeling a burger so I ordered the BLT. It was just what I wanted. Simple and tasty. Was it the best BLT I’ve ever had, no, but I’d totally order it again. The second visit I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich. It was delicious! Chicken was crispy, moist and cooked thoroughly! The siracha ranch was spot on! Both times I got French fries, also delicious!

The burger is similar to In-and-Out or Five Guys style. Yummy! Fries are not, however. That is a good thing. I’ve never cared for the skin-on fresh style. I like salty shoestring, like McDonalds’. Joe’s has fries very similar. Also Yummy! I appreciate the quality beef as well. My only two complaints are, that I went during happy hour, I got a double classic with fries and drink, then got charged full price. The happy hour deal is free fries with any specialty burger purchase. It makes those of us that like the classic cheese burger feel left out. The other is, the guys working the register obviously don’t care about their job. One register was down, so I had to wait while the other cashier with the gauged ears, was chatting it up with a friend. When he finally finished his conversation, rang me up like I was interrupting something. Finally while I was eating, sitting at the bar, I could hear the two cashier’s conversation, which was less than family appropriate. I would recommend they become aware, so the could control their volume a bit. High star rating because the food is Yummy. One star off for service though.

Spare décor, decent burgers but not outstanding. They forgot to put tomatoes on my son’s burger. The fries were uninspired, and everything sat in my stomach like an anvil. I’m glad there are other burger places that are better, because if this were it, I would become a vegetarian.

My burger reminded me of Jack in the Box, and my boyfriend’s salad had expired leaves in it. Staff is nice enough, but spend a few extra bucks and go to Killer Burger.(But, probably a good alternative to McDonalds.)

I got the joes classic cheeseburger meal. Total was 9.50. I thought that was a little steep for a hamburger and fries and drink. The cheeseburger was very good and the fries where amazing, nice and crispy. Also a great place to «people watch».

I want to say this is the Oregon version of In-N-Out, since I’m from California and we have In-N-Outs all over. It’s not exactly like In-N-Out if you’ve had their food, but their burgers are still pretty tasty. I especially enjoyed my side of sweet potato fries. I also got an oreo shake and that was delicious as well. Overall good place to eat in Downtown Portland.

Joe’s Burgers proves people love In-N-Out so much that they’ll nonchalantly accept a wolf in sheep’s clothing. That burger chain has a lot of fanfare, so much so that they are suspect to become another McDonald’s unless they stop expanding across the United States. The eatery of Joe’s is huge and they have a nice big menu. It’s full of shakes, sides, salads and burgers, the large menu items being the one difference with In-N-Out. But don’t forget their happy hour. I ordered their burger combo for only $ 5 on a Friday night. It took about seven minutes to receive it. The burger was not exceptional, but it was polished and the ingredients worked smoothly. It’s included fries were crispy. Overall, it’s a nice meal for a good price. While this is «better» fast food, it’s still fast food. Portland has too many gourmet food trucks for this to make too much sense. It’s weird that with Killer Burger, we crave this downgrade. The owners were just very smart. In-N-Out has a zombie following. With Joe’s, you have what should be the minimum for a good place. Burgerville could take a huge hint.

This is a conflicted rating. I’ve been there three times, and every time the food has been good and the service. However, this last time I went and decided to use to the bathroom… WOW. So, let’s start with the food. There burgers are decent. They are decent sized, and taste pretty good. However, I’ve found the sides(rings, fries, salad) to be a bit weak. They all taste like they came out of a bag. So the food by itself is a low 4. But, dang, those athrooms. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, a dirty bathroom is a deal breaker. Man these bathrooms were bad. I mean, they appeared clean and all, but there was a horrific smell. HORRIFIC. It smelled worse than the worst rest stop restroom I have been in. You know how some big city streets have the urine smell? Like Makret Street in San Francisco? Yeah it was that smell, but strong. I was going to go to the bathroom but got a whiff of the smell and just felt dirty and had to leave. Heck, they don’t even have a urinal cake. Come on. Like another reviewer for this place stated: if the bathroom is that bad, it makes you wonder about the kitchen. I don’t think I’ll be going back, lest I hear the bathrooms have been extremely deep cleaned. A shame too, and I kinda liked the place.

Everything about this burger is pretty alright, but nothing special. I did really appreciate that they do use better-than-the-average cow type meat, but it didn’t translate into anything spectacular. The scene: Portland on a Sunday. We were out looking for lunch and, like, everything is closed. This was after trying to locate 3 – 4 other places and giving up. I wasn’t really craving a burger but, well, you can always eat a burger, right? Well, it was good, but not amazing — and I can say that for both the bun and the fries. The patty was above average, but not the best I’ve ever had. I just don’t have all that much to say about it. In summary, good in a pinch, better than fast food chains, and sounds like the onion rings(which we didn’t have), or going during happy hour would be the way to go. Cashier was friendly, had nice outdoor seating, and portions seemed appropriate for the price.

Absolutly perfect after a beer or two, super inexpensive and tasty comfort food. Love the $ 1 corn dog special and they have a really good burger!

Wow– every time I encounter a restaurant that offers a GF option… makes me squeeee like a little girl and do a little jiggy dance in front of the poor employee. Hehe… I ordered the mushroom swiss burger and was really impressed with the GF bun and burger. The GF bun wasn’t the typical hockey puck that falls apart. This was spongy and moist in a good way– like a fresh regular bun would be. Mmmm mmm! The fries were ok. They used course salt which was a nice change. Next time I’m gonna splurge and get a shake…

Got hungry while wandering the streets of Portland before meeting my friends to go to a brewery tour at Widmer Bros. Brewery. I barely had lunch that day, so I MUST have lunch before taking that educational tour ;) The weather was a bit could so Veggie chili $ 4.25 and all beef hot dog $ 3.50 sounded great, and yes it was quite tasty. Joe Burger is small burger chain, 4 locations. This particular location is located in a busy street, but unlike other places this is pretty neat and organized and the staff was friendly and helpful. Recommended if in the area.
