So, while this has long been my favorite pizza in town, and on the cheap to boot, I was surprised to see that the cart had undergone a transformation into a burrito and bowl cart(not to fear, the ‘za is rolling back up right next door this spring). Now the menu is populated with fusion burritos that you can also order sans tortilla in bowl form. All sounded fantastic: Puerto Rican, Thai, Korean and Falafel. Seems like a pretty wide swath of international flavors for a cart known for slinging pies and burgers, right? I opted for the Korean, but found it was sold out, so settled on the Thai. First, the size. For $ 6 it makes the gargantuan wraps at Chipotle look like a Taco Bell bean & cheese. It was monstrous. Secondly, it tasted fantastic. The chicken was perfectly cooked, layered in with a nicely chewy brown rice, spinach, cucumbers, chopped peanuts and a delightful smattering of fried chickpeas which brought a wonderful crunch. The burrito was perfectly layered(no small feat IMHO) and had a bright curry sauce that brought everything into harmony. It was messy as hell and not as spicy as I’d like(2 out of 5), but I didn’t mind it was so tasty. Kevin appears to have the Midas Touch with food, as there was no way to expect that come this spring you’ll be able to get the best pizza and frites in Portland right next door to a spot slinging such on point fusion fare. I’ll be frequenting Montgomery Park more often now as I don’t have to get a gut busting burger or cheesy pizza every time I wander over, I can blissfully alternate with the lighter, flavorful fare at The Kindle Bowl.

wow… make sure you get here early. this is(by far) my favorite pizza i’ve ever had… so stinking good, i really want to try the other stuff but this place is so popular if you dont get there early they wont have any hamburgers! the one negative thing is they are not where they say on Unilocal.it’s over by 23rd in nw portland… but once you find it go there. also you can call/text in your order, HOWCOOLISTHAT!!!

This is a little gem out on 27th& Wilson(careful, Unilocal will take you to the NE side up around Mississippi. The cart is NOT located there, but in NW off Vaugn street). Even without a pod of carts surrounding it, this guy is worth a visit. «Pizza» is in this cart’s title, and the pizza does not disappoint. However, perhaps more impressive — this place does some awesome Brisket Burgers. The Brisket makes for a very flavorful burger that is unique enough to stand out, but not so different as to not feel like a burger. In fact, the burger is, in my opinion, the stand out item on the menu. However, while the food is great, my actual experience with the cart stops it from being a 5 star experience due to ridiculous stock shortages and long waits that border on ridiculous if you don’t call your order in(especially since they do not warn you of the wait time). –BURGERS&FRIES– The bun is excellent and served at the perfect crispness, the beef was cooked medium(to perfection), and the burger was very flavorful and very juicy. To their credit, I did not leave feeling like I just ate a gut bomb. Kindle Kart doesn’t resort to a grease overload to make good food, this is a genuinely good burger. My friend got about the plainest burger on the menu — the classic with no cheese and no pickle. Sounds boring to me, but he loved the burger and left very impressed. That’s a testament to how well they make these burgers and how flavorful the beef brisket is. Frankly, the burgers are pretty much perfect. The fries(pommes frites) are also great and made Belgian style. Generous portions and a great mid-sized cut. The real stand out is their selection of sauces — a roasted garlic sauce, jalapeño garlic, a classic sauce, and the usual ketchup & mayo. This place is a mini«Potato Champion» and has some great fries and sauces that come recommended. –PIZZA– This cart makes some very good pizza. The dough is great(fermented dough) but the real standout is the ingredients. They use high quality ingredients for everything, and it certainly pays off in the flavor — you WILL notice a difference. For this reason the pepperoni is perhaps the most average on the menu, but others shine. In fact, I may like the pizza here more than Pyro Pizza on 12th& Hawthorne. Though it’s not going to top some of the cities best(Wy’East & Apizza Scholls), this is some of the better pizza from a cart in town and I will definitely be back for more. — THEBADSTUFF — I have no complaints about the food itself, but I’ve been pretty annoyed twice with my experience at this cart. The owners are AWESOME and very friendly, but after a year of operation you’d think they would be better about some of the basics. I have been twice and both times they have been out of stock on at least something vital. They are open 11 – 2; at noon(only an hour into operation) they were already sold out of Brisket Burgers. That’s literally half of their menu gone, and they’d barely just opened their doors. It’s one thing to be out at 1pm or 1:30, but lunch hour has barely begun. When you’ve been operating for a year and you only serve two things:(Pizza & Burgers) it’s a pretty big oversight to be missing half your menu after only an hour into the day. The next time I showed up extra early(11:20am — 20 minutes after opening) and they were already out of both salad and portabella(meaning no mushroom burger or mushroom pizza). Look, I understand things happen, but this cart has a very small menu and there are no other carts in this area(this is a stand alone cart, not part of a pod). So If you are coming out of your way to eat here, be prepared that they may not even have stock for what you are showing up for, even if you come when the cart opens. And on that note, if you don’t call or text in your order, be prepared for a long wait. This is sort of a catch 22 — it’s nice to be able to call in an order when you’re in a rush. But it’s also annoying and unlike most cart experiences to show up, order a burger, and have to wait 20 minutes as a line of people who came after you keep strolling up to pick up their food. Especially after being told your order would be ready in about 5 minutes. Oh, and remember: their map information is wrong. Don’t drive to Mississippi, or by the time you get their they will probably be out of what you actually want. — CONCLUSION — GREAT Food, great people, and some of my favorite burgers in town. Just be prepared to deal with ridiculous stock shortages, even shortly after opening, and being treated to a long wait if you don’t call or text your order in.

The summer is coming to an end and my food cart journey, unfortunately, is too. So I had to try this one immediately after reading about it in the oregonian today since it’s an 11 – 2 M-F only cart, and once summer’s over I can’t make those hours anymore. I was excited for the pizza and the burgers, so I had to try both. Neither disappointed. First — the excellent — I got the bacon and blue burger and it was phenomenal. I have tried all the great burgers in Portland and this one really stands out because it is made from brisket. The texture and flavor just really stand out. They pile on the grilled onions which is great, and they do not skimp in the blue cheese. Finally, I usually find bacon on burgers to sort of get lost in the shuffle, but they used some thick and string bacon, allowing the taste and texture to blend in well. And the bun is on the smaller side so it’s really about the burger taste. All in all an excellent burger. As for the pizza, it was good but not exceptional. If you like wood-fired pizza you’ll love it. I tried the pepperoni and the margherita and they were really good, but someone else ordered the sausage and it looked fantastic. I’ll probably order that next time, which might not be til winter break since the hours will keep me away.

Montgomery Park Location: Been wanting to try for a while, was dying for a burger. Co-worker had warned they’re greasy and undercooked. Ordered the basic burger with no changes and it was great! The burger is larger than the bun which made it greasy to handle, it was cooked perfectly. Bun was great, real cheddar is big in my book, and grilled onions come stock. Fries were good, just too much food for me to eat. RE: previous review about $ handling, I paid after food was made. Look forward to trying the Pizza some day.

I work inside the Montgomery Park building and this food truck is parked right outside. I hear rave reviews about the burger but I have yet to try it. The fries and roasted garlic sauce is amazing! Keep in mind he sells out quick! I did however get to try the sausage and caramelized onion pizza and found it wonderful! Definitely one of the best pizzas in town!

Visited the new location and enjoyed a brisket burger and pommes frites. The food was great! The home made sauces really make the pommes frites(french fries) even more amazing. The burger was cooked to my liking and the bun made the burger a tasty dish. If nothing else, stop in for the fries… amazing! My wife had the sausage pizza and wow! also amazing. Fired in a wood oven, the crust blackens just a bit making the flavors come alive… I think worth it if you happen to be close to I-405 and Hwy 30, just look for Montgomery Park! Cannot beat the price either…

Some of the best wood fire pizza I’ve had, and this is from a small kart! Owner was very nice… gave me some suggestions. we talked a bit about how he started it all as he was making our pizza. Ordered the sausage and caramelized onion and the pepperoni. Both were great! Whenever I am in Portland, I make sure to stop at Kindle. Looks like they moved from the last time I was there. Cheap and satisfying!

This is a review for the Kindle Kart at 26thNW Vaughn, the website mentions this as the new location. The owner of the Kindle food truck has a prime location for frequent and repeat business: all by himself, right across the street from the east entrance of Montgomery Park. On offer are burgers, fries, and pizza, dressed up on the menu Portland-style: pommes frites(Belgian twice-fried shoestring potatoes) served with your choice of sauces ranging from truffle ketchup to garlic mayo, a «brisket burger» served on a brioche bun, and pizza made from dough that’s hand-made and leavened over three days. The menu says all burgers cooked to medium unless ordered otherwise, and mine was closer to well done than medium or even medium well. The burger’s flavor, and even the flavor of the bleu cheese I requested, were overshadowed by the roasted garlic sauce I requested. The brioche bun was good, and I’ll be back to try some different combinations and may edit this review with details from future trips. I’ll be back to Kindle, with limited options for lunch in the neighborhood, and would recommend it to anyone working at Montgomery Park or surroundings, but wouldn’t recommend seeking it out otherwise, and wouldn’t come out of my way to eat here for the burgers.

The pizza was above par here, actually pretty good. However, i wasn’t able to get over the fact that the guy running the cart would take our money, not wash his hands, and then make the food. If it wasn’t for that, i pry would give this place 4 stars.

This review is for the new Kindle Kart location on Vaughn &26th Avenue. This place is in a great location for those of us who work in Montgomery Park. The pizza itself is okay. Not the best, but not the worst. They’ve only just recently opened and obviously have some kinks to work out. There was some confusion on the pricing of the pizzas and misquoted the time it would take to have our pizza made. Took 15 minutes when we were told it would only be 2 – 3 minutes. Cash only and its BYOD(rink). No bottled water or soft drinks served. Hopefully they will become more efficient once it’s been established a little longer.

I stumbled upon this cute little joint on accident and so glad I did! The pies were delicious! Absolutely perfect crust. The ingredients were fresh and meshed so well together with every bite. Sausage and caramelized onions… Yummy my tummy. The sausage was a WOW — such a pleasant kick. It was a cold Sunday afternoon so there was no line, which was good because I was able to chat it up with the owner a bit. He definitely puts a lot of love in those pies. Cheap eats with a excellent ingredients deserves nothing less than 5 stars!

Three words: Perfectly Pizazzed Pizza! New pies every week, local, fresh, high-quality ingredients(best example: home-made sausage!), home-made dough. and an awesome wood-fired, relatively thin crust(soft & chewy with a bit of crunch on the edge) make this place stand out! Oh yeah, and the owner, Kevin, is a cool dude. One pizza is just the right size for someone that really wants to stuff themselves for lunch. 2 pizzas should probably be enough for 3 people given the calories that an average american should eat for lunch :-) I’ll agree that the closest comparison to this style of pizza is Apizza Scholls, which is definitely good company to keep! With pies ranging from $ 7 – 9, it’s not a cheap 1-person lunch, but it’s not ridiculously overpriced given what you get! Check it out!

I am so not a pizza fan, but eating at Kindle Kart has restored my faith in good eats! Lately, I have been going twice a week to get pizza with friends there. It is something about the balance of flavor that makes it really good and truly addicting. Lately, my favorite has been the«Harvest» with spinach pesto, zucchini, and a crust to die for!!!
