Lamps Plus

Went to Lamps Plus on Hall st., looking for a outdoor fountain, after receiving product info & suggestion, I went home and order online. Unfortunately the fountain was delivered damaged. I called the store and spoke with Claire, although the product was purchased through the website, she addressed our concerns with professionalism. Claire facilitated the return to her store to allow for a «quality» check prior to us picking up the replacement. The replacement fountain looks GREAT in our backyard!
Because of Claire’s professional and friendly personality, I look forward to future business with Lamps Plus.

My husband and I visited Lamps Plus on Saturday and could not have had a better experience. We were fortunate to work with Claire. She was professional, knowledgeable, and an extremely nice person. She knew the answer to every question we asked and went out of her way to help us find exactly what we wanted. We ended up buying 2 lamps from her and will be back to purchase several ceiling fans for our new home.
It was so nice to have a shopping experience with someone who understands customer service!

This place is really big and has a myriad of styles, finishes and applications to look at and choose from. We walked in and instantly got excited! We’ve been to numerous lighting shops, and not to put them down for lacking a huge showroom, but it sure makes it easier to form a concept when you can look and touch different products.
We walked in today continuing our 4 month search for 5 lights. Stacy greeted us immediately and helped us throughout our ever-​changing ideas of what we might or might not want. She was extremely helpful and easy to communicate with. We walked out w 1 double-​tiered chandelier and 3 kitchen pendants. We saved $ 300 on the one and just under $ 25 ea on the pendants. Stacy is going to do some research and try to find us the perfect entry light that we are so darned particular about.
We’re happy campers!!!

These guys have every kind of lamp, bulb, and all the accessories that come with it. Great place to get ideas if you aren’t sure and a great place to mix and match whatever you need. Love this store!

I needed a lot of fixtures fast, to upgrade a a 1905 home. I had a budget, and a certain idea of what types of fixtures would work.
The «in-​store» experience can be uneven, but isn’t that always true? If you were a salesperson helping a customer with a $ 5500 order would you interrupt that to help someone needing a light bulb? The challenge in retail is always to stretch yourself very thin… the lightbulb person is YOUR NEXT $ 5500 customer.
The merchandise mix and expertise at Lamps Plus is fantastic. They could benefit from employing a couple of employees who are «floaters» and can identify customers who arrive and flounder, waiting for assistance. If you hit a lull, you get fantastic, attentive service. If it’s busy, guess what — hurry up and wait. No different from any other business. Lamps Plus is worth waiting for. They get it, their employees get it. This is a painless shopping experience compared to big box stores, in my humble opinion.

Love your lights, hate your Styrofoam packaging. Not only is it a pain for me to deal with, it is an environmental disaster! They make biodegradable Styrofoam now, please consider switching to that. Here is a picture of Styrofoam pieces stuck to my husbands hands before I vacuumed them off!

The selection is good. But the service was really bad. I called in an order to pick up so as to save time. The person on the phone was really pleasant and hogue. She said the lamp would be behind the counter. So I went in and stood at the counter. I waited for about 15 minutes. No one behind the counter. Sales people walking around helping others. Since I was waiting and it didn’t seem like I was going to get help soon I looked at some other lamps. Found one I’d like to buy. A line formed behind me. The lady behind me said she didn’t have a lot of time. I said it’s going to be a long wait and that I’ve been standing at the counter for about 15 mins. A sales person heard me and then started to help me. I said u have something am waiting for me behind the counter and another lamp I want to buy. As I was walking to show her the one I wanted to buy, I kid you not, she actually said, «we need to make this fast because I have a customer waiting for me». I was speechless. I purchased my two lamps and left quickly so I would not take up a sales persons valuable time anymore. On the bright side, ordering over the phone to have lamps delivered turned out to work well. So if you’re planing on buying at the store, please wear tennis shoes and be prepared to sprint. The staff have things to do and other customers you might be keeping them from.

Went in today to purchase lighting for our retail space. Couldn’t get help to save my life. The selection was good, no complaints there, plenty to choose from.
Not sure if it was the time if day, 4pm, but my wife and I stood at their front counter for over 5 minutes without getting help. This is while a manager is around the corner sitting in his office, and another employee stood 5 ft from us setting up some floor display. There was nobody else in the store shopping when we came in. Finally the manager came around the corner, asked if we’d been helped. When we said no, he hesitantly walked us back to where WE were guiding him to ask question. On the way, a sales girl comes up from the back and he passed us off like he couldn’t wait to get rid of us. I understand delegating tasks, but it was a clear rush off.
No questions asked about what we’re looking for, our needs, interests, nothing. From a business owner and sales person, this is poor service. Only this locations selection saves them from one star.
I’m not a negative person, but this type of customer service is what loses you business. We have a 10,000 $ lighting budget for our retail boutique and it’s going elsewhere unfortunately.

Lamps Plus has a tremendous amount of inventory (some nice furniture, in addition to lamps), and most (but not all) of the time I have no problem finding someone to help me. The biggest issues:
1) You can find the same products at other stores for much cheaper. We bought a flower pendant at LP, and then saw it later at Ikea for much, much less. And people are always asking us, «Did you get that at Ikea?» so it’s not like there’s a noticeable difference in quality.
2) The staff seems more focused on selling to you, than helping you. Every time I talk, I feel that the salesperson is only thinking, «Did I make a sale?» instead of, «Okay, what I hear her saying she wants is _​_​_​_​_​_​. What do I have that can meet her needs?» It gives the whole experience too much of a buying-​a-​car feeling.

Customer service from their associate Claire was impeccable. She was courteous, knowledgeable and patient in every respect. I would also add that I had occasion to call the store before their hours of operation and the phone was answered and their staff took the time to answer all my questions without reservation. I could not recommend Lamps Plus more highly.

I just visited Lamps Plus, with my interior designer, because I am in remodeling my office. I had a wonderful experience. They have a spectacular selection of lamps and chandeliers. The staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgable. I would definitely go back and recommend Lamps Plus to my friends and colleagues.
The only thing that I could «complain» about is that I bought a track lighting and a day after I installed it a light bulb went out. This is somewhat an issue because it is a bulb I cannot just go pick up at any store. I have to go specifically to Lamps Plus.

My ratings are not for the collection they have or the sales. It’s for the staff there. We were in the store for quite a long time and had questions about some chandeliers we wanted to buy. None of the staff members approached any of us (quite a lot of customers like us were waiting for staff to answer questions). We finally got frustrated, waited in their check-​out line and then got the cashier to help us! Once we got her attention, she was quite helpful in answering our questions and the purchase was quick. (All the while she was helping us, the other customers were in line just waiting for her to get back to her register!)
All this while, staff members were passing others in line left and right, not acknowledging their presence and just zooming past! No one even bothered to greet customers or even ask around to see if anyone had any questions!
It’s quite sad to have had this experience! I’ve been to other Lamps plus
Locations– a few in California and 1 in WA & we loved our experiences there
This said, I am not giving up on the store yet! There is another location in Portland and we will go there next time we need lamps :)

I love me some Lamps Plus and I have to say I have purchased 75% of my home lighting both inside and out from them. I am a lighting snob and very picky.
The have everything you could could imagine either in their store or online. They also have lots of decorative items which I have availed myself of as well. They have some gorgeous mirrors, knick knacks, prints, and rugs.
I have had no trouble getting help, I just hang around until someone frees up and can help me. I can wander around for quite some time. There is a huge difference between these folks and Lowe’s or Home Depot, no comparison!
Overall love this place! I just ordered a gorgeous new Lamp Shade from their online store, cannot wait to get it!

I just installed an absolutely beautiful chandelier that I purchased at Lamps Plus a couple of months ago, and so I was inspired to write a review.
Don’t get me wrong — I love love LOVE the chandelier and front porch light that I purchased from this store. The quality and selection of fixtures that they have far surpasses Home Depot and Lowes. The quality of the merchandise is the only reason I am not giving them one star.
The service was abysmal both times I came in. The first time I went in looking at porch lights. They have a huge display wall showing off the options, and I was perusing their selection for at least 15 minutes while waiting for one of the many salespeople to help me. No one approached me asking if I needed assistance (and you pretty much NEED assistance as their entire floor only has display units, and their stock is in back). They had a ton of people on the floor, but I don’t know if it is because I look young, or what, but they kept talking to people who came in after me, and no one acknowledged me. I ended up having to stand around at the front desk area for an extended period of time before someone would help me simply check out.
The second time I came in, I didn’t even mess around with asking for help on the floor — I came in, took a picture of the tag of the fixture I already knew I wanted, and went to the front to try and buy it. I literally waited at least 15 minutes for someone to even look at me, and I just wanted to give them my money (hundreds of dollars!) and get my chandelier!
Both experiences were annoying, and I get really angry when places make it hard to buy something.

Needed a new fixture for my nursery. They didn’t have what I would consider a lot of «bedroom» fixtures. There was a lot for living and dining areas however not a lot of softer fixtures for bedrooms. I was a bit disappointed because I figured they would have goods that would run the whole gamete.

I wandered into this store after someone recommended it as a good place to get ceiling fans. They do have a lot of ceiling fans, all up on the ceiling where they’re not entirely easy to examine but where they do give you a darn good sense of what they look like spinning around on the ceiling.
Within seconds of walking into the store, a nice employee came over and asked if i needed help. I told her what i wanted, she helped me find it. She printed out copies of the information so i could take it home to think on it.
Ultimately, i ended up buying through the website instead of going back to the store. The prices were the same as in-​store, and no worse than on any other website i checked.

So I like this place. But why are lamps so darn expensive. This has got to be the only very expensive thing that comes from china. I mean one thousand dollars for a lamp. Wow!
Overall this store has a good selection and even some mor moderately priced lamps. I think that every lamp I have bought was from here.

I needed a barrel lamp for a small sitting room. The selection at Lamps Plus was very good, and I did find something that fit my needs on sale. The only problem was that the lamp extended too far from the ceiling for the designated room. With the staff’s assistance, I was able to get an alteration and am very happy with their service.
Note: Shopping at Lamps Plus on a weekend requires a certain amount of patience. While they are staffed well, transactions tend to take time and you must wait for someone to assist you on the floor. I recommend going during the middle of the week instead.
