Tried the corned beef pasty. Fantastic crust! So light and flaky! Loved the crust! The innards were a bit too much potato and not enough corned beef in my opinion though. The lady in charge was very sweet and friendly.

A tasty fresh baked pasty… Yum! I had the Traditional Pasty stuffed with meat & potatoes and it was really good. Total comfort food. Reasonably priced and friendly service. I can’t wait to go back!

My boyfriend and I have been eating here since Jane first opened the cart. After all this time, I still have to say that the sausage rolls are my absolute favorite. Especially when dipped in a bit of HP sauce! We are also big fans of the dessert pasties that Jane makes, which vary with the seasons. Can’t wait for summer and some fresh berries… yum!

Krista summed it up nicely already, why belabor the point? These pasty’s are just lovely and the price is right whether you get the garlic or the sausage wraps or the steak and kidneys and more— they are all flaky delights — but terribly uncomplicated, and completely bland. Srirachi is needed to detect any signs of life in this one. Will I be thought ill of, for refusing to engage in any further commentary which may end in our lovely lady o’ the cart suffering distempter? Heaven forbid I even approach that heady terrain! Get a banger wrap — and get plenty of hot sauce outright-and enjoy properly!

Really wanted to like this place! My boyfriend brought it home for me and it was to dry and bland for my liking.

I’m def a fan, I enjoyed taking my order from Jane and her very authentic England accent. She has a great personality, and the food is very tasty! I had the cheese & onion pasty with some extra pickles on the side for $ 0.75 and it was worth it! Very filling… my hubby got food at the Thai Cart and then came and got another cheese & onion pasty to go, because he liked it so much. It is a tad spendy for the amount of food you get, $ 6. But, that seems to be the going rate these days, and the quality was definitely premium! If you are ever around Cartlandia definitely check out this Food Cart!! — -ANd, it’s right by a beer garden at Cartlandia, so that is nice!

i gave an extra star for the very friendly service as im not a fan of the food. it’s not bad and it seems very fresh but it was kind of bland for me. if you like mild flavored food this is a must try spot. if it is rainning or cold outside this is a good food pod to go to as they have indoor heated seating!

Can’t say enough good things about Jane her husband and mom truly just great people and great food too, I have now tried the menu and it so reminds me of my grandmothers cooking. The All Day Breakfast Pasty: Otto’s sausage, onions, mushrooms, eggs, baked beans and Tillamook cheese in golden shortcrust pastry is to good you just have to try it & the Traditional Pasty: round steak and seasoning, potato, carrots, onion and sweetcorn baked in a golden shortcrust pastry is my favorite, so bike, drive or walk on down and see Jane and keep Portland weird eat at the Carts.

service was great, lady was friendly, and the food may have been authentic, but just a reminder that no great food has ever come of of england.

Been zooming past it for a while and decided to stop — glad I did. They seemed to be one of the first in that pod and they have stuck around — a good testament. As another resident Limey, I miss a good shepherds pie and a pasty once in a while. It fit the bill for sure. Brought my sister(another set of Brit taste buds) and she ate every crumb. I’ll hit them again for sure.

The ladies working the cart were extremely friendly and had the U.K. accent, so I knew I was getting something pretty authentic. For my first pasty experience, I had to go with their«Good Olde Meat and Potato» Traditional Pasty($ 5.50), «a blend of round steak and seasonings, potato, carrots, onion, and sweet corn baked in a golden, shortcrust pastry.» I thought the pasty was pretty good. It was traditional and simple, as it should be. The meat and potatoes were the star here in terms of flavor. The filling was seasoned well, to the point where the HP Sauce wasn’t even needed. I enjoyed the carrots, corn, and onions, as they added color and more flavor to the filling. The crust was also damn good. It was soft and delicate when biting into the pasty, but firm enough to hold the fillings inside. The fact that they make everything from scratch… I’m very impressed! I also noticed a bottle of HP Sauce on the counter. Upon doing further research, HP Sauce is a brown steak sauce popular in the U.K. and Canada. HP Sauce has a malt vinegar base, «blended with tomato, dates, tamarind extract, sweetener and spices.» I thought the tang of the HP Sauce went well with the meat and potato pasty filling. But again, I didn’t even need the sauce to enjoy this pasty. Don’t want the Traditional Pasty… or perhaps you want to try something else? Try their All-Day Breakfast Pasty($ 5.50; filled with Otto’s sausage, onions, mushrooms, eggs, baked beans, and Tillamook cheese), their Cheese & Onion Pasty($ 5.50; freshly grated Tillamook cheddar cheese, golden potatoes, and onions), or their Sausage Roll($ 2.75). Also, be on the lookout for any specials they may have! Definitely a fan of this place!
