The Tofu Bowl was excellent. Generous amount of nicely seasoned and prepared tofu with a modest but adequate amount of refried beans and rice, fresh salad and a generous amount of avacado topped with sour cream. My new favorite Mexican dish and Portland. And I am an omnivore.

Lengua taco was amazing. Changed my world-view on beef tongue. Offal has never been so… unawful! Only thing holding this back from 5 stars was that the size of the taco was different both times I visited. First time during the lunch rush the tacos were a very reasonable size, and for the price they could be considered large. However when I came back at a slow time on a weekend afternoon, the unfolded tacos were size of my palm. Muy doloroso! Still, I’m excited to keep coming back and trying new things at this authentic Mexican eatery. Prices, portions, and taste all combine to make this a top notch spot!

A friend invited me to lunch saturday afternoon here at Los Gorditos, I am always down to explore new to me restaurants, so of course I said yes. When we arrived, there were only a few other patrons, but shortly after we sat down, an influx of people quickly filled the place. I ordered the Chile rellenos plate and my friend got the Chile rellenos burrito. When our plates arrived, holy gracious, the portions were ginormous! My friend quickly devoured his burrito and I took my time. My plate also came with a choice of meat on the side and fresh made corn tortillas. After consuming the two delicious Chile rellenos, I was quite full. I decided to not force more food down my throat and take the rest home. Which was another meals worth! For ten dollars, it’s so worth it! Two meals for that price and I was full after both! Plus, this place has and salsa bar that has a few different selections. I see myself heading back to this lovely place.

Los Gorditos catered our wedding this summer. They were extremely nice and accommodating. They came out and visited the site beforehand, and met with us twice. The food was amazing — probably the best part of the whole wedding. They served multiple kinds of vegetarian and meat tacos, as well as chips/guac and appetizers — all at a much lower cost than any of the other vendors we talked to. They were organized and set up ahead of time, and had multiple people working. All of the guests raved about the food! I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Best burritos I’ve had in Portland so far. When I first moved here, I worried that living in California my whole life and getting some downright amazing Mexican food in the 408 and in the Mission district had spoiled me. No place had lived up to my love of walking down 16th and Valencia for pupusas. Haven’t found great pupusas anywhere yet, but these enchiladas and burritos are great and so is the sweet staff(consistently). The meat is always so tasty, and I’ve never had anything that tastes«old» like at some Mexican restaurants I’ve tried on the west side. The portions are hefty and you cannot beat the quality and consistency here. Tried the other location on the east side once and it just didn’t cut it. It wasn’t bad but the Pearl location is where it’s at. Love this place. They also have an extensive vegan and vegetarian menu. My usual: chicken burrito add shrimp/no sour cream. YUM.

As a former California native, this is the best Portland burrito I’ve found. Homemade soft tortillas, carnitas delicious, and classic Jarritos in the fridge make this the most authentic Mexican food located in the Pearl.

This is our go to driving between San Fransico and Seattle. Wife goes to the bookstore, I walk the dog and get burritos for the road. I get her the veggie and a grab a pork stacys. Maybe get some chips to soak up the green, roja, and chipotle salads. The torta is super good too(just not in the car;).

AMAZING, quick and affordable Mexican with handmade corn and flour tortillas! Huge burritos for $ 7. Add incredibly delicious seasoned soy curls for a couple bucks more. They aren’t stingy with the add ons! I’d love to give 5 stars, but they’ve messed up a few orders by mixing up substitutions or putting cheese on a vegan order. That part isn’t cool. If you’ve got a meat, veg and vegan menu, you should take care to differentiate before the food comes out. People have food allergies, man! Great spicy salsa bar too!

I continue to love the soycurl burrito of memory and the Platonic soycurl burrito of possibility, but the actual soycurl burritos I’ve had in the past few months have not satisfied. The quality of this restaurant has dropped in the year I’ve lived in Portland and prayed at the altar of Los Gorditos. The final straw, prompting a burrito sabbatical, was today’s lunch: the bottom half of my burrito was sopping wet with oil. Rancid oil, as the lingering-for-hours aftertaste(a taste that is a perfect metaphor for my menial office job, but I don’t believe that to be the intention) informs me. I don’t blame the staff harshly; every weekday I’ve eaten here I see the same cook, with a helper or two. This noble beleaguered spirit contends with truly formidable lunch rushes. Los Gorditos needs to staff appropriately to contend with these, and give the kitchen artists room and leisure to do their stuff. As it stands, the quality of the Pearl Los Gorditos has become spotty. My burrito today was probably a one; I know it can be a five. Therefore, I split the difference to signify the gamble this burrito life has become.

This place has great food and very reasonable prices! The portions are large so bring your appetite or expect to take some home with you. We ordered the carne asada fajitas and the carne asada torta. Both were excellent. The salsa bar has a variety of salsas to try and the salsa roja has a nice kick. The inside seating is rather limited, especially if it is busy. But, there is additional seating outside.

Thanks fellow Unilocalers for all the great reviews, this place was fantastic! Love that they have a separate vegan menu where I don’t have to try and decipher what I can and cannot eat. I had the Soyrizo burrito and chips and guacamole. Everything was delicious and some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. That is saying a lot considering Mexican is my favorite kind of food. The service was friendly and attentive. If I lived in Portland I’d be here every week! I might have to go back before I head home.

Love this Mexican food spot. Order at the register and they’ll bring the food to your table. They have 3 separate menus(vegan, vegetarian and meat) so it is great for all diets. I am vegan but I tend to love vegan junk food. I have had a few items on the menu but my favorite was the vegan«garbage burrito.» It has a bunch of alternative meats, refried beans, peppers and more. It is delicious especially if you’re hung over and craving that kind of meal. I am going to be a normal customer here for sure. There are multiple locations in Portland and I am sure all of them are equally as good. Check it out!

My hubby and I were in the mood for Mexican food on our trip to Portland and stumbled upon this little place one Thursday night. Don’t let looks deceive you — the food that is coming out of this tiny kitchen is on point! They have 3 menus when you walk in(vegetarian, vegan and meat). I had the carne asada plate with the tastiest steak and onions, served with delicious rice and the creamiest and most flavorful refried beans. It was all served with very warm homemade corn tortillas on the side. My husband had the chicken enchiladas which were also very tasty. The only downside is that it doesn’t have air conditioning, but the 100 degree weather lately is a rarity and shouldn’t prevent you from checking this place out.

It’s always time for Los Gorditos! I highly recommend this place ! I have been on the hunt for good Mexican food since I have been in Portland ! I have been disappointed over and over again. With the bland beans, dry tortillas, lack of vegetarian options. Till I stumbled upon this GEM! I HIGHLY recommend the Soy Curl Fujita burrito with avocado ! It’s huge and reasonably priced ! You can beat FRESH and HANDMADE tortillas on the spot ! Quite literally they are making the tortillas to order !!! You also can’t forget the Orange habanero salsa. DONTFORGETTHEORANGEHABANEROSALSA!

What are you trying to say to me Los Gorditos? That this niña de grasa should come in more often for super freshly made and delicious tacos? OK, you win. To order, find your place in the queue and wait your turn whist persuing the vast menu of ass-fattening delicious things. Actually, what you will find once you recieve your order is that the food is fresh, healthy and probably won’t make you fat unless you simply eat too much — which is easy to do. You will receive a number to display on your table and the kindly folks behind the counter will deliver your order to your table. There is a salsa bar with quite a nice variety of sauces. There are little cups and such so that you are guaranteed to find a salsa/hot sauce to please your palate. I was very pleased that I was able to order my tacos with no onion and yet there was a lot of tasty non-onion stuff to fill the taco. A lesson that some other taco shack that I shall not name should heed. Just two of the vegetarian tacos were the perfect size for a moderate appetite and for $ 2.00 each, a heck of a deal. Los Gorditos, que hacen de esta chica gorda feliz. 2015 — Review # 27

@LosGorditosPDX Brown bag in hand my lunch to go, only to find a burnt burrito. No bueno amigo #SadPanda #PDX Worst part is they were not even busy. It was well after the lunch rush with only a few other patrons. I have had positive eating delights in my past but lately it has been«just ok». This last one however… I just don’t understand. I would never present that to a customer and is a reflection of what the trend in service and quality has been.

I really really like this place! It is such comforting, scrumptious vegan mexican food. I appreciate an establishment that can make different genres of food for vegans that tastes really good. If you love Mexican food and you’re vegan, it’s a really great place to grab a bite to eat. Definitely hit the spot. I have no complaints about the place. It’s very laid back with diverse music every time we visit. The food never fails to satisfy and rock my tastebuds. They have even successfully accommodated my boyfriend’s garlic allergy! Considering that is typically a challenge for us when eating out, this place takes all the cakes for us. We highly recommend the vegan menu.

Upon walking in you will be greeted with 3 menu options; meat, vegetarian and vegan. This takes out all the guess work for both patrons and staff. You simply let them know while ordering you’re using the vegan or whatever menu. Pure genius. I wish more restaurants would get on board with having segmented menus. It would make life so much easier for those of us with special dietary needs. The burritos are huge. I brought home one bean, cheese and rice burrito with chips and guac. It was more than enough to feed myself and my husband. The food was fresh and made to order. I will definitely be back!

When I first walked in, I saw 3 menus to the side, 1 cashier, and 1 cook. It was quiet, and the place seemed a little dead for dinner(7:30 p.m.) on a Tuesday night. As my eyes shifted from the vegetarian, to the vegan, to the meat — I quickly realized that I was STARVING and ordered a garbage burrito — pretty much everything in a wrap. When it came out, the beast didn’t seem to appetizing(see photo), but the first bite of gushing liquids and a big fat wad of meat quickly quelled the sounds from below my neck. A few more bites realized that the monstrosity was composed of primarily liquids sunk at the bottom, dried wads of meat, and some vegetation here and there. To be honest, I was so disappointed with the food that I finished half of the burrito before I went to another establishment afterwards and destroyed my cravings. All in all, I wouldn’t come back sadly. Sorry Los Gorditos! –sad face–
