Macy’s

This is Furniture. Bought a high end leather couch 1.5 years ago ($ 2100) and product fell apart inside on the top of the backing, which fell down inside couch. I’m a neat freak so was not happy. Called and they sent someone out to examine… people said yes this is product defect should be covered. Then they call me back and say NO…“someone sat on top of the couch” which caused this. Only me. not a chance. Different from what the experts who came out to look at it. Long story short, I paid a guy $ 300 to take couch to his shop, take a part and fix. He said, terrible construction, didn’t staple top portion in correctly with not enough fill. PRODUCT DEFECT. So I’m out $ 300 + the warranty I bought which was worthless and I will never buy again. But I just getting started at reducing Macy’s business!

I was Christmas shopping at this store not long ago, when I went to check-​out in the men’s department I went to the register that was nearest to my exit. There were two women at the register and no one in line besides myself; both woman continued to talk to one another for at least 3 minutes possibly longer before either of them even acknowledge that I was there. Once one of the woman finally came over to check me out she was very rude and short with me, I tried to ask her about another item that I had been looking for to purchase from the store and she just blew off my question and handed me my bag. I believe her name was Diane.

I feel dirty walking through the place. No sort of cleanliness. Such a small selection of brands. They might as well hang a Sears sign above the door. Missing our LC Nordstrom especially on days like this :(((

With exception of the one gentleman working in men’s furnishings who rang us up (because no one was at any registers near anywhere else on that side of the store we were shopping — oh except for the sunglasses counter where they didn’t seem to be able to do anything besides stand around and chit chat with each other — and tell us to find another place to check out), Macy’s hasn’t changed in their horrendous reputation for terrible service. In apparel, they ignore you or just have no one on the floor to help, and up in the mattress section, it’s apparently full of former used car salesmen, starting out nice then upping the pressure and disrespecting our opinions on mattresses until we literally were walking out as fast as we could to avoid telling the guy to stick it where the sun don’t shine because of his aggressiveness. We don’t even bother to shoe shop because standing around for 10 minutes waiting for someone to help us get a size is a waste.
BOO.

I experienced some of the worst customer service in my life at the jewelry counter. Now this is pretty sad, given that I’m a big Macy’s shopper. I went to buy my husband a watch on my lunch break and quickly picked one. I went over to the jewelry counter by a lady who was helping another customer. After about 10 minutes, she still hadn’t even acknowledged my presence. It got even worse than that. After she finished ringing up the customers, she instantly helped another customer who had just come up to the counter. After about 5 more minutes, she finished ringing that person’s jewelry up… and then offered to ring up all of their clothing too. At that point, I still hadn’t been acknowledged even though I was obviously ready to go and standing right next to her. At the 20+ minute mark, I ended up walking over to another counter, and asking for help since apparently I’m not worth helping at the jewelry counter.

I had purchased ray bans here, for around $ 200. A little after the first year, the arm came off… did not break just came off. I took it back with a receipt and the guy just looked at me like I was asking for something impossible. He told me that if it had been within a year he could have done something. Nordstrom told me had I bought them there they would have fixed them with a receipt, no problem, no matter how long ago. Thanks to Amazon, Macy’s will probably be gone soon, anyway.

Moving here from California I already had my share of horrible experiences with Macy’s, but while moving I thought maybe this one would be a little different. I surely was wrong as the company I’ve grown up despising due to there horrible customer service and negligence to own up to there mistakes continued. I purchased a very large bedroom set that was very expensive for my budget, but was very nice. I was told it would be shipped Wednesday which was perfect because sleep train only ships out to my area on Wednesday. After going and purchasing a mattress I was very excited to finally get a bed set after a couple of weeks of sleeping on the couch. I was told it would be shipped between 8 – 10 so I was forced to take work off. I decided to do some lawn work outside and wait for the truck. I receive a call that tells me they’re at my gate, unfortunately I don’t have a gate and the truck was at the wrong house. Which I find to be very strange as to I’m basically the only house on the street. Someway they figure out to screw it up and tell me they can’t come deliver it and tell me to call there hotline for information. It was raining pretty hard and I feel this was merely an excuse. Angry as can be I call the customer service line to be given an attitude like I have no reason to be upset even though I have taken work off and spent thousands of dollars on a set that they can’t tell me when it will be delivered. The phone operator basically sits in silence and just waiting for me to hang up, I demand some type of store credit and all she offers is $ 100 off my purchase. She was extremely insulting and only angered me more as she acted as this was my fault that they can’t read a map. I then had to call sleep train and cancel my delivery which means the soonest I will have a bed is another week and that’s if Macy’s can figure out how to deliver items customers spend hard working money for. This will be my last purchase from Macy’s and I wish nothing but the worst for them as this is not the first time this has happened.

The only reason that I’m giving Macy’s three stars is because of the really sweet, attentive gentleman that works in the fragrance department. My partner and I have gone in here several times to purchase fragrances and each time he has been very welcoming, he even remembered us which made us both smile. Outside of him, this Macy’s is horrible. The customer service or lack there of is downright pathetic. Last week my partner and I were in the shoe department when I spotted a pair of beautiful, leopard print, Michael Kors heels on display. I grabbed the display shoe only to find out that it was my size so I tried it on and walked to the nearest mirror while my partner sat in a chair watching. As I was standing at the mirror, the sales associate walked right by the both of us like we were trash on the ground. She wasn’t assisting anyone else because we were the only ones in the shoe department at the time so to not acknowledge our presence and walk right by us was rather insulting. At that point I took the 155.00 pair of shoes off of my feet and we left and plan to never return. It is really annoying because I really had every intention on purchasing those beautiful shoes but with customer service that poor, I’ll take my money elsewhere and I suggest you do the exact same.

Called fragrance manager Dianne at the Lloyd Center Macy to ask for some fragrance samples. In mid sentence she cut me off to tell me that she couldn’t help me, because they had a fragrance event and would have over 200 women in attendance. I totally understand her not being able to accommodate my request, what I don’t understand is the rude lack of customer service and basic curtesy to listen. I have an event of around the same number of women expected to attend. They could have been potential customers. Now I will make sure to share my story with them. I facilitate customer service training and good customer service can be done even when being unable to meet a customers need.

Horrible customer service. The ladies that helped me made fun of me because they thought I lived with my mother even though I’m a 37 year old woman with her own house and a new car. If I could have gotten their names I would have gotten a manager.

My husband and I were in the market for his first suit that wasn’t a hand-​me-​down and it was very overwhelming UNTIL we found an amazing salesperson at Macy’s. All of their suits were in our price range and with their end of season sales we were able to afford two and though their alterations department was out almost 2 weeks — they provided a recommendation for a trusted local company with a quicker turnaround that we use for other items now as well.

Let me first say that the salespeople in the pillow department were very helpful and deserve 4 stars. The associate in housewares seemed to possibly dislike his job and for good reason. Macy’s clearly hates their staff and the housewares department in particular because there was no tissue paper to be found anywhere — so how the heck were we to get our plates and bowls safely home? Macy’s this is a plea: SHAPE UP PLEASE! hire more people and take pride in your store.

Bought a suit from the MENS department recently. Ask for Tom Cook-​Deas before you go in otherwise you may get the stressed out associate who appeared a bit manic on my last visit. So much so I walked out and went looking elsewhere. I decided to return and Mr. Cook-​Deas was more than helpful.

Don’t get too excited about a sale, there’s about six of them a year. Oscar, a very helpful Sales Associate, was covering both men’s suits and shoes when I was there on a Friday morning, phone’s were ringing off the hook.

As a rule, I find macys to be sort of annoying. My annoyance was just upped today in the furniture department. I ordered a sofa online & called to see if I could get a swatch & the associate said if course.
So I go in to pick up a swatch and the associate (male, the one on the phone was female) said I couldn’t have a snip of a swatch because they ‘like to keep their swatches looking nice for customers’. WTF? Wouldn’t the goal be to satisfy a customer rather than keep a swatch perfect?
I’m so annoyed I wasted my time driving to the store for this sole purpose.
Giving 2 stars because I like my furniture. But the service sucks.

Items in lingerie were placed on wrong rack. I asked sakes lady for help. She advised wrong place and literally went to put on another rack that was priced the same wrong pricing. Really? I asked for a manager who came and did honor the sale price for the two items. I thought this location had better options than the downtown macys and did meet people asking to help.

Very poor customer service. There was nobody at the watch counter, I walked around looking for someone to assist me and there weren’t any workers on half of the floor. I was appalled. I then spotted a lady crouching down behind the watch counter, and spoke up to ask her for assistance. She didn’t even budge. So I asked louder and she turned and saw another customer behind me. She helped her first, then me. I’ve never gotten this kind of treatment before from any Macy’s I’ve been to. Truly shocked and disappointed.

I had just gotten off work and out shoe hunting and in the process, visited the men’s shoe department last evening (Feb. 20) at about 8p to find tennis shoes. At first, the shoe salesman was very friendly, then after we did not find anything, and just as we were leaving, he had the audacity to say, «You know you, there are 2 stores in the mall, Ross or Marshall’s and since, y’know they ARE in the mall, you might want to check them out.» This was an insult directed at our appearance (that is) to a very shallow and superficial person. I was just off from a job that does NOT involve groveling at people’s feet in hopes of a sale, and pays far better than a department store shoe salesman will every see in his lifetime.
That said, I must tell a little anecdote about dealing with the public and sales, as this man has forever lost my interest at ever shopping at this particular Macy’s and I went on to buy three pairs of shoes that evening totaling over $ 300 at a smaller non-​department store in the mall, where service is generally friendlier:
Storytime: I once worked at a coffee/​specialty food shop where an older gentleman would often come in shortly after gardening. Thus, he was filthy and wearing old clothes and dirty boots, but always spent plenty. One day, a new employee decided he was a bum and decided to treated him very rudely. He lost his job over it… as this prized customer was the conductor of that city’s symphony orchestra and lived right around the corner in a 3-​story mansion.
I hope this story finds its way to the men’s shoe department at Macy’s for a certain salesman. It really behooves a person working A. With the public. B. In Sales to treat all customers with equal decency.

I didn’t find this Macy’s to be anything different from any other Macy’s, the fact that it is in Lloyd’s center doesn’t make it any better and/​or worse.
The reason for the 3 stars is that I found the service to be lacking for Macy’s. I am use to helpful and cheerful employees, not ones that seem to be in la-​la land but then again I am in Portland, oui!

The ladies at the Origins counter at the LLoyd Center are incredibly helpful. I don’t wear make-​up, and I’m to the point in my life where I need to. I told Katie that I wanted to just look like a better version of me. SHe took such good care of me. She listened as I asked for just a little foundation and introduced me to tinted moisturizer. And them she showed me how to put on eye liner. She recommended the navy because that would make my eyes pop, and now they do. I do look like a slightly better version of me, instead of (as I feared) a kewpie doll. It only cost me $ 150 for all of the make-​up, moisturizer and cleanser I needed! I expected to pay at least $ 300.
