Excellent service. I ordered a macchiato and didn’t realize they do the real thing — unlike the other place — and it was too strong for me. The barista was so very generous and kind about remaking the drink and even insisted on starting over even tho I said just doctor this one. Thank you for being such a great place. And my latte was FABULOUS.

A darling spot in the Mapelwood neighborhood — SW Portland, a little way off Multnomah Blvd. It sits in a classic house at the three way intersection. I almost missed it as I drove by. Looks like it could’ve been a General Store at one time. The inside is roomy, charming. I went for a cup of tea — Vanilla Rose. It was delish, not sure of the brand, but the quality was right-on. Young folks and couples came and went — getting their hot cocoas and pastries during a break from the rain. The offer a separate kids area, too. I didn’t see it. They host events and rent out their space. Must be more to it than I thought. I appreciated how cute the building was and so neighborhoody. Local Beer and Wine offered, too.

Amazing coffee! It’s perfectly made and strong and hot! hits all the three things that matter to me when it comes to coffee. They have a good variety of tit-bits. The baci was yummy. This is house converted into a coffee shop.

Without Unilocal I would never have found this delightful café! I wanted oatmeal this morning so I searched for it and was directed here. There is no way I would have just happened on Maplewood. The people are friendly, coffee is good, and the oatmeal with candied ginger, coconut, and pecan topping is splendid!

This is one of those mythical things-a hidden, cute neighborhood coffee shop that you can take your toddler to! The coffee is great, and the back playroom is amazing. You can get coffee with friends or your spouse and actually sit and talk! And since you’re in a separate room you feel less like your child is going to bug people trying to work on their laptops like you do in a normal coffee place. It can get crowded in the back though.

Maplewood is an adorable little coffee shop tucked away in a quiet neighborhood street. It’s cozy and peaceful to be at, and the coffee drinks are very great. Baristas are very friendly, and there is even a separate space for kids to hang out in, which is awesome. I just wish they were open until 7 everyday.

What a cool place. I was telling my father about it when he mentioned that he used to hang out here all the time back when it was a store. there is good space to sit and read as well as some good table to meet up with a friend. There are some toys for kids. The food is limited but the few selections are tasty. Parking is thin in the area but I haven’t actually had any problems with it thus far.

All I have to say is holy YUM! I ordered a latte and a quiche and it was absolutely delicious. The establishment was clean, and while parking was somewhat of a challenge, I still say it’s worth the effort.

Tricky to find but well worth hunting for. This café has it all — friendly service, chill vibe, high quality drinks, delicious pastries, a separate area for kids and variety of items offered. Maplewood is by far the best coffee shop in the Multnomah Village/Hillsdale/Garden Home area. I am so glad I finally discovered this place as it will be my go-to coffee shop from now on. My only tiny gripe is that I wish they were open earlier. I start work at 7:00 a.m. on the weekdays so I’d never be able to go before work. And 8:00 a.m. on weekends seems really darn late, as I’m a morning person and like to have my coffee first thing.

What a lovely place. A fine Americano and a tasty ham and gruyère quiche. Nice farmhouse-y décor, quiet, calm atmosphere… less the annoying old woman on the conference call, but she finally shut up, so judgmental contempt has passed and rustic coffeehouse zen has returned. Just passing through Portland, but this adds to my desire to return and discover other like establishments. PS. Just finished the quiche. Delicately soft egg, nicely portioned cheese and bacon, impressively flaky crust. Way better than I expected from a coffeehouse. Actually way better than I get at most french bistros in NYC. Well done, Maplewood.

It took me decades but I finally found a fabulous space for coffee and company in Portland. A friend recommended Maplewood as it is in our neighborhood and I had the pleasure of going on St. Patrick’s day… a little impromptu Irish violin and flute with a lovely lass dancing which was charming and unexpected. Maplewood is very unassuming and they have regulars and followers. An interesting mix and blend of people and I report that it is sans hipsters or wannabes. I foresee a great place to bring work and people watch. Mostly locals, some self employed with laptops and tablets, table talkers, students, and just a good mix of folks. Very relaxed scene and laid back staff without bordering on blasé and indifferent — which seems to be the Portland style present day. Coffee good and I believe they are moving into Stumptown, always a good choice. Portland coffee scene can get overbearing and annoying but Maplewood is just solid and welcoming without all the pretense or bullshit. Service is lovely and I love they have an honor system for drip coffee. There’s a special section just for children and I am a devoted fan of that as most coffee places turn ugly when there are screaming kids and typical oblivious parents that allow their darling to scream and claw all over the place. They serve wine and have little small events. Outside patio. Rumor has it the structure used to be a post office and general store back in the day.

If you want a perfectly made latté, a cozy, warm atmosphere, and a play area for your kids, you will LOVE this place. I absolutely adore the fact that it’s in a neighborhood setting. It’s in an old house they converted. They have a completely separate area for kids to play. Perfect for toddlers and Mamas(and Daddies!) to come. They also have an amazing assortment of pastries and lunch items when you’re on-the-go. I also recently discovered they rent their space as well. Check this place out! You won’t be disappointed.

Just moved to the neighborhood and I work from home… first thing on the list find a coffee sop I can get some work done at. Walked in and it was automatically so cozy. The girls working and super sweet. Made sure to let me know that free refills with coffee if you are sitting, and a punch card! I’ve been here sitting about an hour and decided to have the quiche. HOLYMOLY! AMAZING! I could have ate like 5 pieces. Today was goat cheese and it literally just melted in your mouth. This is going to be my new go to place! Can’t wait to come back!

This in my humble opinion is the nicest coffee spot in the multnomah village area. It has a homelike vibe(probably because it’s in what looks to be an old house/general store type of building) but also plays good tunes(at a low volume) giving it just enough life. Great coffee and noshes available of course… oh and there’s wifi. Peace!

What a charming place! Maplewood Coffee and Tea is both rustic and cozy inside a little house, with delicious teas and coffee drinks and an assortment of wonderful-looking pastries. I hear the oatmeal is fantastic! I didn’t try the latter, but I look forward to in the future. Very friendly service, too! This is a wonderfully relaxing place to come read the paper, share time with friends, and savor time and good food and drink.

So, it’s even better than before, there’s a huge dedicated play area for kids called«the Nest». Its great, parents can sit, relax and sip coffee and wiggly babies can«free range» and play with the toys. The large picturesque windows frame a «living room» like experience that makes you feel right at home. Love it! They also added beer and wine but, it is not allowed in the Nest… oh well, can’t have everything, right?

What a neat place to enjoy some good coffee or tea. I wish every neighborhood had a something like this. It looks like just another house on the block in this cute little hood but hiding inside is a pretty good coffee/tea stop. They use Stumptown for the coffee and so it’s quite tasty and the sourced good quality tea as well. There is a good amount of space in the main room and a really large play space for kids tucked away in the back too which is very thoughtful for families and for customers who don’t want kids running around up front while they work or read. The staff is nice and overall it’t just a charming little spot and I think it will be my new goto for coffee around here, beats the hell out of Starbucks.

We are so happy to have this adorable little coffee shop in our neighborhood. Maplewood Coffee and Tea is in the front of a beautiful old home, that was once an old time neighborhood market. The front/side porch is well used as lovely outdoor seating. They have good coffee, I believe it’s Stumptown, Dragonfly Chai(yum), and a tasty assortment of savory and sweet items from Petunia’s Pies and Pastries, and The Bake Shop. I’m in love with the Spicy Chai, and Buckwheat Figgy Scones. There is lots of local art for sale, quite a few board games to play, and a bulletin board full of neighborhood activities and job/services postings. Maplewood Coffee and Tea is a great place for a quick stop in, or to spend some time chilling out with friends, as well as a good place to hang out and get some work done.
