I like this McMenamins because they have PIZZA. We ordered the Electric Mayhem(smaller size) and it was a lot bigger than I originally thought. It was packed with toppings but wasn’t overwhelming. I love the pesto base and love the Mediterranean toppings. Sooooo good. I. Want. More.

Today my girlfriend and I went to McMenamin’s for the third time. This place has never let us down. The place asks you to seat yourself which is nice – to me at least, my girlfriend thinks it’s weird. I like that we don’t have to wait at all, just go in and sit down. The menu is one-sided. It seems short, but there is a good variety of dishes. I have never had a bad experience with any of the staff. They are never rude or overbearing. The decorations make for good conversation; I always find myself looking around while I wait for my food because there is so much to look at. The food and drinks are always great! Thanks McMenamin’s!

Counting the things wrong with our experience: 1. Forgot to bring the appetizer we ordered 2. Asked about desert but failed to clear our empty plates from the table 3. Never refilled our water glasses 4. Mash potatoes tasted as if out of a box 5. Brought the Wrong check and again failed to clear plates. 6. Wait times for food not fantastic for a slow night Good things — beer, salmon and salad and dessert.

Great neighborhood go-to for football games, out of town guests, and even my Wife’s birthday party in their banquet room this year. Claire and team always meet/greet immediately and make everyone feel at home. Service is great, rotating tap is amazing, and happy hour is excellent! Don’t miss this jewel in the McMenamins crown.

Waiting an hour and a half and no food. Understanding that they are having problems or short staffed is one thing, but there comes a time to be honest with your customers and tell them what is going on. We had to go to the bar to get drinks and basically had to self serve anything we need. Very disappointing. UPDATE: Pleased to report that the general manager contacted me straight away and apologize for the bad service and comped our entire meal. I am very impressed by the sincerity and quick follow through and willingness to make things right. Very impressed and will try again when I in town next. Excellent customer service. Thank you Rich !!

Worst McMenamin’s experience ever. Bad service. Sub-par food. If you have the Passport, just go here and get the stamp and then dine elsewhere.

This McMenamins has the best quality and service out of the 10 or so locations I’ve been to. Up until I’ve tried this one, I’ve come to accept slowwww service and I learned to not eat the food at a mcmenamins because there would always be at least one big flaw and it’s too overpriced… Well– this location is speedy, the staff is professional/attentive, and the happy hour fries have been insanely delicious the few times I’ve ordered them. I wish all of the locations were run like this one! Good job!

Stout was good. Also tried the black cherry cider. Way too sweet for me. Food was okay. I had a southwest salad. It had a spicy dressing. I can’t rave because the food felt very much like big chain restaurants, good but not great. I will definitely come back here for three reasons 1) interesting beer selection that I want to try based on the good stout, 2) the second floor ambiance was wonderful. Relaxing outside and fun inside and 3) wonderful service. I absolutely reward establishments with great service by becoming a repeat customer. Oh and happy hour goodies are priced very low so yep this frugal girl will be filling up there before 6pm!

True Irish pub with an incredible view of the street below, windows all around and trees and plants and on and on. Small beer list but the seasonal«Nitro» Irish stout is delicious and smooth. The aroma from the kitchen is incredible… too bad I just ate. Definitely coming back.

My 1st time here and enjoyed it. Drove by with a friend looking for it, to see if it was crowded, that’s when we realized it was on the 2nd floor. Wide enough space, tables and some booths alongside the window,(was cool to look out over Broadway). Long table just by the stairs, so could see a group comfortable here. Server was nice, attentive. Didn’t have a problem with the clam chowder. Buddy had the fish and chips; me, the Jamaican rice bowl. Avocado in it balanced out with the kick of the mango chutney in my dish. 2 beers, 2 cups a chowder, our meals all together cost 40something dollars. Think because it’s upstairs, doesn’t really get crowded, but this was my 1st time here. Would go back.

The McMenamins Broadway pub up in NoPo is certainly a stop worth taking. We came here on the birth anniversary of Hammerhead beer while accomplishing their Hammerhead scavenger hunt that day. Not only did we score a plethora of stamps for our Passports at this location, we had a great time. The staff here were all super friendly and having a great time. One of the brewers was here and we got to sample a barrel aged version of Hammerhead. Note to everyone: whenever they have a special beer release or it’s a birthday celebration, their beers are usually $ 3 instead of the normal $ 5.50 or $ 4 on happy hour. This location sits on the second floor of the building and overlooks Broadway St. It’s a neat location with a nice vibe. Definitely one of our«return-to» locations.

This is one of the only McMenamins I have been to that has consistently good service. When we’re in the mood for McM’s we will drive past closer ones to go here!

My experience at this McMenamins location was excellent! We happened upon this location by chance, while looking for a restaurant to eat at before heading to an event at the Moda Center. We were there fairly early for a Friday night dinner — 4:30pm. I loved the ambience of this location! Situated on the second floor, you have a nice view of the happenings on the street. Good assortment of booths and tables. Our service was excellent. Beyond excellent, really. Absolutely no complaints on that front. Since I had experienced such a great burger at another location, I decided to have a plain bacon cheeseburger with tots. Burger was so delicious! Juicy burger and nicely toasted bun. It was so good! My friend ordered a gyro and soup and she really enjoyed her meal as well.

My sister is new to Portland this year and had never been to a Mcmenamen’s. We went to the Broadway location and it was perfect. I love their black rabbit red wine, my sis had some sort of beer she enjoyed. We were there before HH ended and the waiter got us some yummy fries with Portland ketchup. I had slider and they were willing to accommodate with a gluten free bun. Perfecto! Cooked just right! Sissy had a hot dog which disappeared instantly. Yummy cheesecake for dessert– Silly simple meal in a nice pleasant atmosphere. We had a great time and really enjoyed ourselves!

If you are looking for a review about their beer, you should move on as I only had lunch. Day drinking= sleeping pill to me. McM’s seems to have somewhat of a bad rep(at least from Unilocalers) for poor service and rather average food. While I am not a particularlly sophisticated consumer, I have always enjoyed my meals at various McM’s. To each their own I say. This leads me to comment on the service. I came in at high noon. The place was maybe 1⁄3 full and there was only 1 other party in my section. My server was there quickly. While I am pretty low-maintenance about ordering, I thought he did a great job of handling the other party’s concerns about ingredients, etc. My own dining concerns are usually limited to things like too raw/burnt, did my sammy spend quality time on the floor, etc. The food was served quickly and I found my Breakdown Burger great(as always). My only suggestion would be to maybe put it in a coffee filter or holder. It’s kind of a sloppy burger but I mean that in the good way. It’s supposed to be. I also had a cup of brocolli soup that tasted nice and I was happy that it wasn’t salty like so many house soups. Although I may have come in at a slow time, I experienced nothing but good service. Sometimes, it’s harder to bring your A-game when things are slow. See you soon, McM’s.

This place has an above average appeal to us. Casual but with a great ambience. Great service and decent food. Was able to take advantage of some of the happy hour specials. Beer we had was big bad wolf wheat, a couple ciders and the sample beer tray. The terminator was my favorite and the lighter beers weren’t great to my taste but I think had a flavor others might appreciate. A little too herby and sweet for me. The Cajun tots and house salad(2 $ and 3 $ respectively on happy hour) were great and a large portion. Peppercorn ranch and honey mustard(with a little heat) was a delight. Paid ten bucks for an eight inch pizza though which wasn’t so great. Toppings were nice but crust and sauce left a little to be desired. Also had the the brownie ice cream for dessert. The ice cream was good but brownie tastes too much like microwave and not very rich. Service was very friendly and super fast until a big group showed up but my overall opinion was very pleasant.

McMenamins… same old, same old. Pretty much. The particular night I visited the service was really great. It had me second guessing if I was actually in a McMennamins. Standard happy hour fare and drinks, though two awesome things happened! They actually still had purple haze available, even though it’s technically out of season and off the menu by now. And they’ve also got this delicious marionberry cider, which you can only get at this location.

I’m a little exhausted from reading another review that spent about a million words describing one waitress… and I never heard anything about the food. Clearly not written by a person who understands what it’s like to deal with the public… well, with people like her… Anyway, this pub is kinda my neighborhood restaurant/bar as I live a few blocks away. I visit at least once or twice per month, usually more. The food is always awesome and so is the service. Also, they recently changed to a yummier potato bread for the hamburger bun. They use well sourced beef and have all the great McMennamin’s brews, etc. Also, it doesn’t tend to be as busy as some of the other nearby McMennamin’s.

Rolled into Portland for a long weekend with family and McMenamins was only a few blocks from our hotel. The atmosphere is clean and pub-like. It was nice that the restaurant is on the second floor. I’m not sure why I appreciate that aspect but I do. There were four in our party(six if you include the infants) and we all really enjoyed the food. Typical restaurant menu but they do a nice job. So good in fact we came back the next day for lunch again. I ordered the gyro the first time around and did the same the next day — delicious!
