My husband brought my kids in for a well visit. On previous visits I had expressed my NO VACCINATIONS (other than required by law to attend school) with my doctor, including guardasil. At the end of the visit doctor Malcom told my husband that both my children were due for «STANDARD VACCINATIONS». My husband said «OK just the regular school vaccinations» & let the staff proceed with vaccinating my kids.
AFTER the appointment was OVER doctor malcom gave my husband the paperwork for the HPV & Meningitis vaccines that were just INJECTED into my children!
This is beyond reprehensible and to date we’ve received NO APOLOGY, NO GOOD EXPLANATION & EXCUSES FOR THE BEHAVIOR of the staff.
Educate yourself on vaccinations, your rights and the policies of the place you’re taking you children to. It’s Calcagno Pediatrics from here on out.

We’ve been patients at the NW office since 2002. We started with Dr. Wagner (who was awesome) and when she left we switched to Dr. Burton. What I like about Dr. Burton is that her focus is my child. She asks me questions, but more importantly asks my child questions and fosters communication with the kids so that they can be informed consumers of health care. When my daugther had a tonsillectomy, Dr. Burton visited her in the hospital and called me every day for 5 days to check in. She gave me her cell phone number. My favorite back-​up MD is Dr. Elia. He is great with the kids and parents.

We’ve been going to Metropolitan Pediatrics for three years now. Our youngest was born at Good Sam and we ended up liking Metro so much that we switched our older son over {from OHSU Gabriel Park}.
Dr. Meyer is our primary and she is amazing, but we’ve seen all the doctors int he practice except the newest one {a guy I think} and have had good and respectful visits with all of them. I’ve heard from others that they’ve felt judged based on not breastfeeding or working, etc. by some of the providers, but we both work full-​time and did not breastfeed long at all and have never felt judged.
I don’t think that the wait times are ever that bad {at Gabriel Park you would always wait at least 30 minutes and then maybe another 15 in the exam room}.
I would encourage folks to give them another try since over the course of the last year I’ve seen some significant changes in terms of front desk professionalism and respect, wait times are very short and they have added an online chart and request system where you can view appointments, contact your doctor, request immunization records, etc.
What I like most about it of course is that the people are so nice. All the nurses are very sweet and friendly. Dr. Meyer treats both my boys like they are a joy to see and as if she genuinely enjoys them.
My encouragement is to go in with your own questions and not expect them to offer you an overabundance of extra information unless you ask, but I think that this is typical of all services where they are trying to see a lot of people in one day.
Also, the nurse help line is amazing and so helpful for parents of young kiddos. A lifesaver for us.

We were fortunate to have a good experience with Metropolitan Pediatrics as opposed to some of the other reviewers and will miss them now that we’re moving out of state. We have been seeing Dr. Lickteig and her nurse Erica is fabulous. When our now six month old was admitted to the Legacy Emmanuel Children’s Hospital after getting RSV, it was amazing to see how many doctors there were familiar with Dr. Lickteig since she often helps out there and used to be on the board (which gave comfort).
Most of the other doctors in the practice have been great as well. Dr. Meyer whose practice is closed to new patients (I believe) is great and she was the doctor who checked out our son when he was still in the hospital. Dr. Elia was nice as well when we had to see him on a sick day. It’s so convenient that they have Saturday office hours.

I still remain with Metropolitan Pediatrics because I have found an AMAZING pediatrician – Dr. Stephanie – at the Gresham office. But my experience with them overall has not been so great. In their defense, I think many of the issues that I have with the dr’s themselves have to do with a clash of philosophies in how to care for my child (co-​sleeping, delaying immunizations due to reactions, etc). I, too, had a previous pediatrician who scorned my parenting decisions and made me feel inadequate. But my children are thriving and happy, so I must be doing something right!
Their business office and money collecting practices are what I take most issue with. For instance, I had been playing phone tag with their business office for two weeks, trying to actually talk to a person who would help me set up a payment plan (I have insurance that had paid their portion). However, before I was able to talk to an actual person, one of my children was sick and I had to take them in for a mid-​day appointment. BEFORE THEY WOULD EVEN CHECK ME IN, they publicly embarrassed me by talking to me loudly about the amount I owed and then making me go into someone’s office (with my small children) and call the business office right then and there to set up a payment plan.
This was at the Clackamas office and I have never had a bad experience at the Gresham office. I’ve not found the business office to be particularly pleasant to work with, though, and get anxious every time they call me thanks to their unfriendly and dismissive attitudes.

I couldn’t disagree more with the other reviews. We switched to Metropolitan Pediatrics many years ago, and I have always been treated with respect and courtesy! They have always been able to get us in for appointments when the kids are sick (not the case with the previous practice we went to), and the nurses are all warm and friendly. The on-​call advice nurses are always calm, helpful and not at all condescending, and we have always been called back within a reasonable amount of time. My kids love Dr. Meyer and so do I! Sometimes there is a bit of a wait — but I think that is to be expected (and again, compared to the last practice, the wait time is much less). I would give 4.5 stars if possible (the ½ star deduction being for the wait times).

I had a similar experience with Metropolitan Pediatrics and Dr Burton. We saw Dr Burton from when my son was born until we moved out of state when he was 18 months old. I gave the Dr and the office too many chances to do their job right.
Dr Burton was cold and unresponsive, smirked at my first-​time mom questions. Of course they are time consuming and worrisome questions, I was a first-​time mom! That’s part of a Pediatrician’s job, to make parents feel comfortable. Who else can we turn to for random medical questions about our infants/​children? And yes, just like another parent’s review on here– she was constantly on her laptop! I noticed the only day she was warm and seemed to care as much as I would hope my son’s Dr would care, was when I was asked to fill out an in-​office review of her and the office.
In addition, there is no sick child waiting area, so my son would get at least a cold most times we visited the office.
Another huge complaint — that again, another parent on Unilocal has a complaint about– they did not properly refrigerate one of my son’s vaccinations!!! Completely outrageous– especially since having him vaccinated one time around is stressful enough. Now we have to do it again, the only good thing is that they have agreed to have our new pediatrician compensated for this cost. Let’s see if that really happens.
And yes, the wait in the waiting room takes far too long.
