All I can say is Awesomsauce! Ate here with my mom from out of town. They did a great job and were really friendly.

My friends are all into the colorful, oh so instagrammable sashimi and sushi platters and maybe it’s because I’m a novice seafood consumer, but for me, hitting up Japanese restaurants for lunch is all about the bento boxes! You get many small servings of many different dishes or in Mio’s case, quite large servings. I split this bento box with a friend and we barely finished. Ugh just look at those colors, tasty variety, and perfect presentation down to the beautifully sprinkled sesame seeds. It was truly quite a feast with salad, miso soup, gyoza, and your choice of three dishes. We went noodles, teriyaki chicken, and a California roll. Everything was delicious, especially the chicken. Special shout out to the house tea. It’s less than a dollar per cup and a rich, herby green tea that pairs perfectly with a heavier meal. Outside seating is lovely but I will say the outdoor patio chairs are a bit low and difficult to move around in. Ideal for lounging but less so for a meal. Just a thought that crossed my mind for a second before I became mentally and emotionally consumed again by the delicious bento box in front of me.

Went here at around 12pm. A few customers are there, and we were a group of 7 people. The place looks good, menu looks enticing, the servers are welcoming. But after 45 minutes of waiting for our orders, we decided to cancel it and eat somewhere else. The server told us after 35 minutes of waiting that there’s a bulk take-out and they need another 5 – 7 minutes to prepare our food. After 10 more minutes, when we’re about to cancel and walk out, they told us another 5 mins and our food will be ready or they can deliver the food for free. Personally, i don’t mind waiting as long as i know how long it will take for me to get my food. They could have given a heads-up. Might try this again though. Everyone deserves second chances

Excellent food. Nice atmosphere. Good service. Had some sushi, miso soup and spicy chicken. Spicy chicken has just the right amount of spicy-lots. My mouth is still burning!

Went here the other day and ordered a Miso Ramen. The first couple bites were okay, kinda bland. As I took a couple more bites I noticed that the broth was starting to turn gray. I then realized it was probably because the red cabbage was literally blue and was changing the color of the broth. I don’t know if this is normal, but it made me lose my appetite completely. Then of course when I told my coworker she said the last time she ate here she got bad food poisoning. I think I’ll pass on going here from now on.

I love this place! I don’t like seafood or traditional sushi, but my husband does. So Mio Sushi is an excellent place for us both to enjoy. They have a great selection of vegetarian rolls, which I have loved every one I have tried so far. My husband has had multiple classic rolls, along with several Nigiri selections. We both enjoy coming here for an affordable and tasty dinner or lunch!

Today I took my girlfriend here for lunch. The sushi is great, and it’s a nice atmosphere. Classical 23rd street home-turned-restaurant. The service is good, the sushi prices are extremely reasonable(especially if you order the traditional rolls and not the specially rolls). Around Portland good sushi is a dime a dozen, but this place is not fancy or expensive, and I think the quality is higher than average. Just my opinion. It was semi busy but we were seated immediately upon walking in, at 11:45am. Most importantly, they don’t have ridiculous hours like some sushi places.

Oh hey, pretty fun! I had never been to this location before and although it was next to impossible to find parking it wasn’t that way to find seating. It was worth the 20 minute parking quest to eat some delicious sushi and try new dishes. All the sushi we ordered was fresh and it helped that we were absolutely starving. We ordered the pork potstickers and chicken as appetizers and an eel covered roll and an Oregon roll. They were all fabulous. I never really had eel before and I definitely wasn’t sure about it but it was really pretty good. I also ordered a pino gris and my friend ordered a really delightful foreign beer that started with a K that I would absolutely order myself. Nothing too exciting for dessert but we were pretty much stuffing ourselves with all the tasty fare.

Lunch bento is a HUGE portion and worth $ 9.95. Chicken teriyaki & veggie yakisoba were both delicious choices. Also comes w/salad, miso soup, and gyoza. Great for take out!

I don’t know about other sushi places in Oregon but the prices at this particular spot are very affordable in comparison to what I pay in California. I ended up getting the Aloha Roll and Salmon Sake as well as some hot tea and miso and it was all under $ 15. The restaurant looks like someones house from the outside and inside is pretty small. However, the service was excellent and I enjoyed my food very much.

Mio was packed tonight! It must be sushi Wednesday for everyone. Standard order of miso soup was delightful– flavorful and soothing. Sometimes it’s bland. Not tonight. We ordered a huge platter of rolls, from simple(cucumber and yellowtail) to standard(California) and a new roll– Mango. The rolls were delicious. No complaints about the taste except for the Mango, which was just… odd. Neither of us thought it tasted like mango. It might have been the first time in my life I didn’t eat every bite on my plate(especially sushi, which I’m always a glutton for). The only complaint about the food was the rolls were sliced unevenly– some huge pieces and some so thin that they didn’t stay together. Service was excellent, and the best part– the room was warm and cozy instead of the blast freezer it normally is. Yay Sushi Wednesdays.

I went to Mio with a friend and got a bento box. I was concerned that my gluten allergy would prevent me from getting to eat anything but sushi but I was pleasantly surprised. I got a bento with beef and a veggie roll and it was pretty tasty. The rice and miso soup were good. They had gluten free soy sauce and all their homemade sauces were made with the gf soy sauce. My only complaint was the tofu was cut in rather big chunks, and the inside tasted and had the texture of uncooked tofu. Smaller cut tofu would have had better texture and taste.

Super cute and casual Japanese restaurant right off 23rd street. After a long day of shopping I was in need of a quick and inexpensive lunch, and Mio came to the rescue. Their menu is everything you’d expect from a casual Japanese place(big fancy rolls, hand rolls, maki, bento boxes, roll combos, teriyaki, etc) and prices are reasonable. The lunch bento gives you a lot of options to choose from and you can select two for $ 9.95 or three for I think $ 12 or $ 13. Standard pricing for a good amount of food. I chose the super veggie roll and miso salmon, which was served with rice, salad, soup, and veggie gyoza. Everything was tasty, although the the salmon could have been more flavorful. 5 stars for service, 4 stars for food.

Mio is my favorite local sushi place for take out! We get it about once a week and every time it’s great! The Mt. Hood roll has the right amount of kick if you’re looking for a Mio favorite! Their selection of sushi is extensive! They have a small outdoor seating area but it’s right off of 23rd which is nice! The staff is always friendly and the takeout is usually ready within 15 minutes! I

I love this place! In the past it was too packed when I made attempts to go, but not last Saturday evening! I do like the cozy atmosphere — when there is room to enjoy it. The menu is huge by the way, so you can take your odd non sushi eating friends. We got the sushi faster than I ever have in any sushi restaurant. We solely had sushi and it was delicious for reasonable prices. We had the following«Classic Rolls”(6−8 pieces per order) Aloha(salmon, yellowtail, krab, cucumber, green onion, masago), Philadelphia(Salmon, cucumber, cream cheese, green onion, sesame seeds, for my friend, I don’t care for cream cheese in my sushi), Spicy White Tuna(albacore, cucumber, seaweed, sesame seed, green onion, spicy sauce, garlic dressing), and Portland roll(salmon, real crab, cucumber, onion, sesame seed). We also had the following Nigiri(2 pieces per order): yellowtail, creamy scallops, and garlic salmon. The waitress didn’t ask how our food was, but the chef did(we sat at the bar) which is always appreciated. So many employees skip that very important step. I also appreciate not having to ask for extra ginger, so many places skimp on that. For all that we paid $ 38, so under 20 bucks each and I was beyond full when we were done. If this was Bamboo Sushi it would be a much higher bill. I like Bamboo but it’s expensive with less variety, at least variety of what I like and they don’t even have yellow tail which is a sushi staple for many. Next time I would like to try the«Premium Rolls» like the Milky Way, Salmon Creek, Shogun and the Oregon, as well«Classic Roll» Kanihama. I like that their classic sushi still has stuff in it, I hate getting a traditional roll and having it be 95% rice, that seems to be common in many sushi places, forcing you to buy more expensive specialty rolls, but not here ;) UPDATE: The only slight negative I could say is that a ton of the rolls come with crab salad, almost all! And most of them are fake crab which is apparently called KRAB with a K LOL. So one star reduction. I love the real crab, but find that being it’s so fatty(in «crab salad» ie mayo form) it’s super filling and so next time I may do a little more nigiri and a little less rolls so I can eat more fish than filling up. They don’t offer sashimi. OK I took the rice off the nigiri and I made sashimi hahah.

Loved our visit here to Mio Sushi. The waitresses are all top notch friendly and excellent servers. The Rainier Roll was my favorite and I also liked the cucumber roll. All enjoyed with a Sapporo. The great customer service will keep us coming back. We felt welcome AND got to eat good food. Thank you Mio Sushi waitresses for a nice dinner and superb service. We went in around 7:30 p.m. On a Monday night. Not too busy. Steady but no wait. See you soon.

My friend just got me addicted to their sushi pizza… When she first mentioned sushi pizza, I have to admit, I gave her the«mmm what?» look… I imagined a pizza with sashimi all over and although I love anything sushi/sashimi, this did not sound appealing but hey I decided to give it a try… The sushi pizza comes out and to my relief, it is layer of sushi rice with cooked fish on top! The layer of fish has a delicious and creamy flavor and the whole dish is quite enjoyable! My other favorite dish is the bowl of rice with all kinds of sashimi/lettuce and a spicy Korean sauce(sorry can’t never remember the name). That dish is a little pricey. I have different sushi rolls here and they were also pretty good. The restaurant itself is small but cozy. The staff there has always been nice and attentive. They also have a few tables outside for when the weather is nice.

So my girl and I are walking around the mean skreets of NW Portland looking like a more attractive Khloe K-French Montana situation while continuously walking back to the car to take swigs of Pendleton because real. She tried sushi for the first time the day before and didn’t actually despise it so, naturally, we had to have sushi on this fine Tuesday. I’ve been hip to the sushi game for a minute, but god knows we’re not going to sushi until she tries it outside of my presence, aka discovers it like Columbus discovered America. We lucked out and went during Happy Hour, which is basically the realest shit since Lebron went back to the Cavs. We ordered an appetizer called Heart Attack or some shit. I guess it was supposed to be hella spicy, but it was mostly just very good. Tuna in a green pepper, deep fried, cut open, with sriracha all up in the mix. As happens at happy hours, I ordered alcohol. Some sake shit, which I never really enjoy that much but always order for the intrigue. *walks back to car to take swig of Pendleton* We ordered 2 different rolls from the happy hour menu, and both of them were(fire emoji here). The only thing is they brought both of them out on one plate like we were going to be able to differentiate which was which strictly from the ingredient listing on the menu. Son, I’m not that guy from the Karate Kid. I have no idea. So we just ended up arguing over whose was whose, and both eating about half of each one. Shit was so good though. Hard body. I was kinda buzzed so I spilled soy sauce all over my alphet but gave absolutely zero fucks, kept it pushing. Man, I’m going back here today. So good.
