I love this library! It is a short walk from my home, super duper cute and has the all important A/​C in the hot summer months. Plenty of space to sit and enjoy a book if you are so inclined.
I generally just swing in to pick up books I have reserved, and I’m in and out in about a minute every time– they have plenty of checkout stations, I have never had to wait for one!
I love you, Multnomah County Library!

This is a very cute and quaint library. Came here just for a little bit to print off some things. You’ll need a library card to use the computers and access the internet. I’ve never printed anything from a vending machine printer before, but the instructions were pretty simple and the staff were friendly. I didn’t need any assistance, but I saw lovely smiles from the employees that I knew I’d get the help I needed if I asked for it.

The North Portland Library is a place where age is present. The books there are geared for a wider audience. I believe this is the first library I have been to that has a very extended selection of African/​Middle Eastern music. I was looking for a good biography of Duke Ellington. I found a lot of biographies about other musicians. I was quite amazed that there are three Louis Armstrong books at this branch. It is rather obvious from the street and I dropped by here just for a look. I do like a library with age in it and bike stands.

I ove the library especially for my daughter. We attend the Saturday baby book readings At 1030. I like this site because they add cultural books geared towards african Americans and other cultures. They also offer a Spanish book time.

Stopped in one very hot day and was pleasantly surprised to walk in to a cool and comfortable air conditioned lovely little library. Conveniently located across the street from a Pub and steps away from PCC Cascade.
Nothing especially unique about ths location except the cool structure that houses the collection. It’s an older building rather than many of the other libraries in the system which are housed in more modern buildings. The staff is helpful and kind. Plenty of computers to use if the need arises.

Hell yes. This is the best public library system anywhere I’ve ever lived. There are many branches, they include some late hours, and when you put a book on hold, it arrives at your preferred branch lightening-​fast.
This location happens to be near one of my fave bars, The Florida Room. Books and booze? I know it’s a hard sell, but you’ve twisted my arm.
This branch often has an impressive variety of CDs. Recently, I borrowed Motorhead, Blonde Redhead, The Horrors, Guided by Voices, The Raveonettes, and Crooked Fingers. I think this shows a bit about the variety as well as what is going on in my brain.
I have not utilized any of the classes and events here, as they seem to be geared a little more toward younger folks i.e. homework workshops and the like, but it makes me happy that these options exist.

The Multnomah County Library (or MultCoLib as no one calls it) is amazing. If you live here and don’t use it, cool, because more for me.
They have more than books. They are like a really comprehensive and slow Netflix (and that includes an awesome music selection).
And, AND, this building is haunted!!!
Allegedly.
But for reals, supposedly haunted.

One of the smaller older libraries in the Multnomah County Library system. It’s conveniently located near PCC cascade and the Mississippi area. The staff are super helpful and the selection is pretty good. It seams like a lot of people come here to just use the computers but getting people into the library for whatever reason is a good thing in my opinion.

I spent years here, volunteering and helping to check-​in holds and help send items back to central. The kind folks here always knew about my erratic work schedule down the street at ECH, and were so accommodating in letting me come in whenever!
Holy smokes, Mult Co’s library system is so seamlessly run, it could oil itself and easily be self-​sustaining. The fact that the system itself is so incredibly busy and popular makes me happy, personally. Folks are using their tax $ wisely!
One of a handful of Carnegie libraries remaining, i will always relish the laughs, crazy convos, and all my memories and hours spent here, helping the cause. I absolutely love that I was able to live so close to this library, and be active in my erstwhile community.

This is more of a review of the Multnomah County Library system rather than this library specifically but out of the two libraries that I have been to in the area (this one and the Albina branch), I much prefer the North Portland location. It’s not far from the freeway which makes it easy to get to, it’s in a beautiful, old brick building and the employees are very helpful!
As far as selection, I always just log onto the website where you can search for any book, DVD or CD and then put a hold on it for whichever library you want to pick it up at. They’ll email you when it’s ready and you just pick it up off the hold shelf or from behind the counter. It doesn’t get much easier. It allowed me to cancel my NetFlix subscription and now I can just check out the entire season of a TV show for free, for three weeks, and don’t have to worry about watching 1 DVD at a time a la NetFlix.
I’m hooked!

This library is reputed to be haunted.

Yay! I love the library! An amazing selection of books and CDs and you can order things to pick up at your nearest location, which for me happens to be this one. It’s a cool building with computers and internet to use downstairs and the library people are helpful and friendly. One of them informed me that this is like one of the newer hipper libraries, so lots of good stuff gets filtered through. I have no base of comparison to verify or deny that statement, but I often find interesting CDs when I browse. Libraries are great! Give them money everyone!

I think this is the most beautiful library branch in Portland. Not to sound like a ridiculous hippie (this is Portland, after all), but id does have a great energy to it. The main room has a great lofted ceiling, and there are lots of windows to let in natural light. There is also lots of space, so even when it is crowded, you don’t feel super cramped.
There is also a great space on the second floor that is usually a computer lab, where folks can sign up for more than one hour on the computer (which is perfect if you are applying for jobs but don’t have you’re own computer), or can also be used for community outreach programs.
It also has a great kids selection if you happen to have little ones in toe.
I don’t use this branch as much as I use the Albina branch, but far and away my favorite!

This is one of the most beautiful libraries in Portland. It has a great selection for the size and it is so wonderful to see how many people use it. Definitely worth a visit!
