a small festival that has what you expect… berries! and all things berry. I was hoping to find some more interesting berries than the usual blue, rasp, and straw. But the ones I tried were delicious.

Fresh berries, frozen berries, jelly/jam berries, berry juices … yes, I tried all the samples available here. The Oregon Berry Festival was held in the Pearl District area(NW9th Ave & Johnson) for two days last weekend. The focus is only on berries, so don’t expect something big like the farmers’ market we see around in Portland on summertime where various fruits and vegetables are aplenty. Tiny festival as it may seem, this event is abound with amazing berry products. I went on Friday, July 12th, and bought a load of sweet, big, fresh strawberries. I don’t usually buy jams or jellies, but ended up buying Olallieberry Jam and a fruit spread called Berry Pinot Noir. I’ll send it to relatives who live out of state and have them get a taste of Oregon berry preserves that are something different from the usual flavors they see in the stores.
