I work near this place, and it disgusts me how many times I’ve seen a beat up old van drop off pastries in the morning. The other day, I saw a van with the windows taped off delivering meat at 4 in the afternoon. It was 80 degrees outside and that van was not refrigerated. I’ve eaten the tamales, and for almost 3 dollars, you can buy an old dried out tamale that’s been sitting in a slow cooker for god knows how long. I defiantly would not recommend this place to my worst enemy

Hubby and I ate here a few months ago and loved it. The restaurant part of the market is small — just a few booths. The food is very authentic and reasonably priced. I had pollo asado and hubby had carne asada. Beans, rice and homemade tortillas were all spot on as well as the different salsas we tried. We were so satisfied that we decided to order some carne asada and pollo asado for the poker party we hosted last night. We opted to purchase the meat already grilled so no one had to cook during the party. We were quoted a very fair price and placed an order. It was perfection! The meat was marinated and cooked perfectly. It was packed in foil pans and wrapped in plastic wrap to keep it warm and juicy. Everyone loved it and we have lots of leftovers as I ordered more than needed. My friend and I made tamales last December and she purchased the masa from here. I am most definitely a fan and will eat in, order to go, purchase specialty items from their market… you name it! Both of the guys I have dealt with have been super nice as well. I highly recommend!

The same owners but a bigger store than the S.E. 32nd Ave. location. Much friendlier and cleaner with full size restaurant booths and tables. They have pictures of all their dishes on the wall with the prices. Tacos are $ 1.98 instead of $ 1.25, but they’re bigger and much more filling. Love the homemade tortillas. But, I do find street tacos with just meat, onions and cilantro rather boring. Other items are priced a bit too high, I think. A little hard to find, but if you know where the old Hollywood Video store is, or where Hong Kong ’97 is at, you can’t miss it. There’s also a butcher shop if you’ve got the huevos to try it. Also, much better English skills. No A.C. in use so it gets really stuffy inside if the temperature is over 70 outside. I wonder how cold it will get inside this winter when they wont turn the heat on? They don’t have the good Pico De Gallo like they have at the 32nd Ave. location. They use some sort of cactus blend. I don’t like it, but at least you don’t have to deal with that slug that works the counter at that location.

This is a typical Mexican Market, packed from floor to ceiling with Mexican grocery items, they also have a little restaurant in back with a fairly large area for seating and a TV mounted on the wall always playing soccer, and because of this they get a large Hispanic lunch crowd. The food is very authentic Mexican, however much more expensive than I would have expected for this type of place, the portions were averaged sized. They do have a cool salsa bar area with a large selection of goodies to add to your tacos. They are always a little slow, as their is only one cook, however the gal running the register is very friendly.
